1. Not only is Dave fixing an '84 and painting it for Quickstep, he has now generously offered to lend us a CB for our trip. Condor is letting us use a GPS, and is mailing it to Dave's house. Muffinman is lending us a trailer, and it is working it's way across to Portland Amazing...bloody amazing!!!!!!
2. I remember seeing a member that built his own dog hauler trailer and he had pictures on his post. I can't seem to find the post anywhere. I do remember the guy had a yellow lab that he pulls in it. Any help in finding the post or who the member is would be appreciated. Thanks Ben
3. Has anyone in Michigan bought a Harbor Freight Tag along trailer #66771 from the store and not online? Today I got a 25% off coupon for today only. If I order it online i have to pay an extra $89 shipping. I called the store near me and they told me that the only way to get it is to order it on line because they don't have it in the store. ps HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
4. I bought some letting for the new trailer, I'm building
5. Looks like they went to Sturgis in style this year. My friend Chuck has been talkin' about and slowly working on this trailer for a few years. He finally got it done for the their Sturgis trip this year. I love it. Later, Scooter Bob
6. Here's my trailer in work and some pics of my newly installed hitch. Hopefully I can keep this thread updated as I modify my trailer...
7. For those of you that have trailer wiring harnes, where did you route all the wires? Did you drill a whole on the rear fender to run then inside the fender or run them some how along the outside of the to the hitch? I bought a plug and play set up that connects under the seat. Thanks

OK I would love to have a trailer and camp as I go but really how much time will I really have verse the cost to have it sit around 11 months a year??? I found one that I thought was nice for the price of $1900.00 CDN Thats just about $1900.00 for all you US bikers:thumbsup2: Anyway what do you think of this trailer??
9. In case some members haven't seen the recent poll question set up, please check out the question regarding next years trailer to be raffled off at the International Rally. As the Trailer Raffle - winner to be drawn at the International Rally, is open to all supporting members & not just those at the rally, we (the committee) have 2 possible options available. Trailer shipped, or Winner makes own arrangements to retrieve it. Will trailer shipping to winner, affect my decision to buy Trailer Raffle tickets. ** Yes ** No We, on the committee, need to have as much feedback as possible over the few days, please. Thanks, all, for your assistance and consideration. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54849
10. Well, dad drove almost 800 miles (one way) to spend Thanksgiving with my family. It was an awesome time but I had an ulterior motive for him coming up. He's been a long time Venture rider, so I wanted his help installing my new trailer hitch and wiring, changing the oil, and just generally showing me around my new (to me) Venture. We had some good weather and my plan was successful. We got the trailer hitch installed, fabricated a bracket to hold the plug (see pics), installed the wiring harness for the trailer, changed the oil, blew out the air filters, added some seafoam to the gas, and he showed me some other areas of interest to pay attention to. Was a great visit and working in the shop with dad is ALWAYS a good time!
11. OK gents, I need to tow my 1st gen VR in a trailer. My sport bike handlebar harness won't reach across the buck-horn bars. What is the recommended method for tie-down?
12. This is my first "big" bike so I figured I need a trailer just to be official! I picked up this Harbor Freight trailer from a guy on CL for $100...Hopefully over the next several months I'll fix it up and customize it...If all goes well, I'll have a good trailer ready for the summer. My plans are to do something "different" and make it a truly custom trailer, not just throw car topper on it and call it good...we will see how much time I have...I'll keep everyone posted along the way if I can. Suggestions and recommendations are always welcome. I have some ideas of the "look" I want, but if you have any neat ideas, throw them out, it might give me more ideas.
13. Well, I wasn't planning on going this afternoon to pick up the bike because I was scheduled to close on the refinance on my home at 4pm. But, after calling Wells Fargo to verify where I was supposed to be, the lady informed me it had been changed to tomorrow and she realized she had failed to notify me. So, given that tomorrow is 60% chance of rain and Wednesday is going to be horrible traffic getting around Asheville, NC, I went home at lunch and picked up the trailer and am going to try to get it done today. For some reason, I am a little apprehensive about this. Mostly, just getting the bike loaded on the trailer, especially since it is not running. I am also going to have to find someplace to put the extra engine and maybe a whole bunch more parts if he will let them go cheap. I guess my little Maxima is going to be loaded down. So now I am sitting here trying to function for a couple more hours until I can get out of here. I must say, it is a beautiful 70º day and maybe that is a good sign. Wish me luck, RandyA
14. I want to replace my trailer (pulled by cycle) lights with led-type of lights. i was hoping to be able to simply take the light cover off, remove the old light, and wire in the new led lights. could it possibly be this simple, or am i dreaming? if it is possible, does anyone know where to purchase the led lights?
15. Thinking about getting a trailer to haul the '07 RSV on longer trips...in the next couple of years I plan to have it triked it out (the bike...not the trailer) with the Hannigan kit. I, therefore want to get a trailer for now...and after it makes the change to trike. I would appreciate knowing the overall length and width of the Hannigan that some of you have done. Thanks in advance for any info.
16. saw a 1st and 2nd gen. on trailer going up I49 in louisiana, they should've had them covered thats for them HD. don't say anything Squidle:mytruck1:y
17. I asked first, Freebird okayed it...... I'm not a flag person, but i love stickers I asked Freebird If I can Order stickers for my bike and trailer, He said go for it. I figured for the bike maybe 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch lettering and 1 Inch for the trailer. They come in any color, I'm going Gold over the Black I think it will stand out great I'm checking on the price per sticker now. Figure, about Two bucks each. But this is my question to you. If I did this, could we bump it up to three, and give a buck to the St. Judes Childrens fund? spoke to the Company tonight, wierd, they didn't have Harrington, But I forwarded, some pictures I did on my computer. Spring, (The Lady) told me to post the color chart information, so you can see what they have to offer. BuildASign.com
18. One of these things could very well extend riding time for a few more years... POP OUT TRAILER #280570875607 Not a toy hauler, but very nice KOA special....
19. After reading about hanging a trailer from the ceiling, I thought what a good idea, well just about, I mean, I almost had to call Squidley and apologize to him,,, here's how it went. I checked out my shop, and sure enough I had a space where that could actually take place, it was going to be close and not save me a lot of room,,, but just the idea intrigued me, so I did some planning, I know, give it up, but I stayed at it and actually came up with a plan. My trailer, I figure to weight about 200 lbs so it should be easy. I get me some rope,, (oh I got that, former owner left me a whole bunch), well then I need some pulleys,, lets see,, about 5 will do, nah let's get enough, we make it 7, and then some eye hooks to fasten the pulleys to the ceiling,, maybe be done in 1 hour or so. Got all the required hardware, measured out the rope, decided on the location for the pulleys and put it all together. That was easy, about 2 hours, but then coffee was there as well. OK hook up the trailer and then up it goes and I have floor space. Got it all hooked, one point at the tongue and two points at the rear, all one run of rope, meaning that the rope was one length only and as I pulled on one rope all three points were supposed to come up equally. Oh my, the trailer's back end was the only part to come up and then only one side of it. No matter, kick the thing and it will balance,, right? yep! but you can only do so much of that before you get tired, and the front end was still on the floor,,, and darn that 200 lbs was getting heavy. At this point the slope on the trailer was about 45 degrees, and the front was still on the floor. Enough of that,,, back to the drawing board. Only cost me a few bucks so far, but hey I'm into it and it now needs doing!!!!! Time to plan this thing somewhat different,,,, OK, I'll get winch, that'll make it more controllable and easier to lift, after all I am getting older and I need to think of the future. I'll get a winch and cable instead of rope but use the same setup, what a genius I is. Well after the first 50 bucks, here goes another 50. Next night I go at it again with cable and a winch. I get Marca to turn the winch while I guide the trailer to the ceiling. Everything is peachy keen........... until the lid of the trailer touches the ceiling..... the front needs to lift just a bit more Hon,,,, give it a bit more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,CRASH!!!!!!!!,,,,, yep, it's back where it started,,, on the floor,, along with broken pulleys, and lots of stretched out eye bolts,,,, everybody is OK,, Marca is not even shaking,,, course it missed her by 2 feet, so it seems she was quite safe after all. Now I got think again,,,,, this brain works is starting to get to me. It's a new idea, but somehow this trailer has to go up evenly and easily, so the winch is in,,, what else would be handy,,,, maybe some heavier pulleys and of course heavier eye bolts, ouch,,, so far it's 100 bucks, now another 80,,, this is not getting any cheaper, nor is it taking as short as first imagined. But,,,, now it works. Nine pulleys, about 80 feet of cable, one winch, a bunch of cable clamps, 3\8 inch eye bolts and the trailer goes up lick-a-dee-slip. And oh,,,, it suffered no damage on the way down the first time,,,and I saved about 6 square feet of floor space. Anybody else got a bright idea I can try?
20. I like the looks of this bike and it has everything I would need. I tow a trailer and don't need the trunk and I think they are ugly anyway. The only thing I don't really like about it is the bags. What do you all think? http://newproductlaunch.kawasaki.com/Products/PhotosLarge.aspx?ProductId=495&PhotoId=140903&featured
21. My Unigo trailer was black which matched my '04 Midnight when I bought it. Now that I have the blue '07 it bothered me that the trailer didn't match. So, a friend of mine helped me paint the upper 2/3rds of the trailer this weekend. That PPG paint stuff is expensive. It turned out pretty good. The color match is good but the finish isn't as glossy as I had expected. I've been told that I can polish it to a higher gloss once the paint cures for a few weeks. Attached is a poor photo of it. I still need to add a tape pin stripe at the color break similar to the bike. The paint store couldn't find a paint code so they used a device to scan the bike's paint and then mixed the paint to match. I'll post a better photo once I'm finished with it. DT
22. Alright folks. I have a need. I want to store my trailer up near the ceiling of my garage to free up floor space. I have actually already used a cumalong to get it up there and safety chained it to the joists. It was cumbersome and I had to be careful to raise each side evenly to keep it from tipping. But, I want to make a system to hang it up and get it back down a lot more easily all by myself. That way I will probably use my trailer more often instead of using my truck to go get smaller items. Any suggestions? The bottom of my ceiling joist is 10' 4" above the floor. I thought about building a plywood ramp (reinforced with 2x4s standing on their sides and screwed along the length of the outer edges of the plywood). I would hinge the plywood at the rear to the bottom of 2x4 vertical studs extending down about 30" from the joists. This would allow clearance for the raised trailer to hang below the bottom of the joists. I would lower the front of the ramp and push the fairly light trailer up the ramp and secure the tongue to a stop at the front of the plywood. Then, I would only have to lift the tongue up and secure it with a safety chain. The plywood would also act as a storage shelf for light things associated with the trailer (folding chairs, small tent, etc. Did all that make any sense? Rusty

Finally got some pics up of my new trailer. Its called a Tag-Along. Made by LilThoroughbred Trailers in Arkansas. They come with white wheels but I fixed that! The last pic shows the wheels painted black as they are now. I will be changing the rear lighting, going with all red lenses. http://www.lilthoroughbredtrailers.com/id2.html
