1. I am headed to Wisconsin to pick up the Tour Deluxe I bought early tomorrow! 6 hours one way! Long trip but worth it!
2. Yeah now this is what the WNY gang should try..............
3. I have been searching for a detachable tour pak for my 07 RSMTD for 6 months - i've seen several attempts here on VR - but none that i really liked. A friend & I spent about 8 hrs. in the shop today laying out the template for a detachable tour pak. we finished the template (poster board) and our next step is to fab it out out light sheet metal to confirm fit and finish. next we will take the template to our local laser cutter to have the real detachable mount cut (.0125 steel). We have a friend in Fla. making & shipping the 'U' 1" round tube which mounts to the bottom of the tour pak and to the top of our detachable mount. We went to the local Harley dealer and purchased some docking hardware and ordered keyed locking mechanisms. This is going to be a real sweet setup when done. Once this project is complete i intend to post pics of the procedure to install hardware and pics of the finished product. If there are any interested RSTD'er who might have an interest in the product, let me know ( i know this is a little premature considering i have no pics to post yet ). i am hoping to have this project done over the course of several weeks - this will be a first class mounting kit with or without the actual tour pak - i'll keep everyone posted. I expect that some might ask if this detachable system will work on RSV and honestly i don't know anything about that bike, perhaps others who have much more knowledge of the similarities and differences between the bike could shed so light.
4. Our weekend started being fun after Missy and Dana showed up from NC, they were riding with us to St. Jude. That night we threw some steaks on the grill and had a great relaxing meal. We sat up and talked VR and bikes till about 11:30, even though we had to be up at 3:00 am to leave for Memphis. We didnt take the bikes but still had a great time. When we arrived at the Flying J, there were already 4 bikes waiting for us at 10:30 am, and among them was this huge trike, it used to be a VW powered trike, but he wanted a bigger engine so he stretched the frame and body and installed a Chevy 302 ci engine in it. Shortly thereafter they started arriving, p/u trucks, suv's, bikes, cars, and a couple of 2 seat convertibles. The NARR group had 25 1/2 people and we had 24 1/2 people, Jason Murphy is a member of both so we split him. You know VR members aren't the only ones with some crazies, they have their share for such a small group. We had a great time with them. Hope they make it again next year. We had a great lunch at Denny's then rode over to St. Jude with 21 bikes and all those cages. It was a pretty impressive sight all those bikes and cages with their flashers going, nobody got lost getting there. The folks a St. Jude were ready for us with 4 tour guides and a big check which they filled in with the info for the pics. I presented them with some t shirts from Vogel and they like them so much, they might use some of the design on some of their shirts. The tour was great, and we even got to meet a young patient and have our pic taken with him. After the tour a bunch of us went down to Tunica a made some donations to Mississippi's economy via a couple of casino's. The weather was absolutely beautiful and nothing could spoil our mood even loosing at the casino's didnt bother us. This was the most special trip to St. Jude, it ranks right up there with the ride in 2007, when Mean Dog rode with us. Folks, if you have never been to a VR event, this is one you really, really need to attend, you will come away with a tear in your eye and a lump in your throat. This place is special and so are the people that work there and volunteer there. Next year we will likely tour the Ronald McDonald house....... Thanks to everyone, who participated!!!!! ;
5. Wife and I wanted to add a trunk / tour pack for longer trips, to our Tour Deluxe. I bought a trunk bracket from a wrecked late model Venture. First thing I found was that the posts for the latch for the detachable passenger back rest are in the location where two mounting bolts need to be for the Venture bracket. So, I drilled them out from the back, then tapped holes for bolts. The weld from the pins left me with enough metal to get about 4 threads in each hole. I mounted the bracket...then.... I had purchased an aftermarket Harley tour pack as it had the largest capacity of any of the trunks I saw on the internet. It arrived, very nice with passenger back rest. Now my problem. The bottom of the tour pack is formed to fit a different bracket. It isn't just flat. Of course, these inverse ribs don't align with the Venture bracket. Has anyone dealt with this issue?
6. E Bay had a set of Venture tour pack brackets / support frames so I just purchased these. I have purchased an aftermarket, Harley style tour pack to do on it. Has anyone done this combination and what about height for the back cushion? My wife is about 5'5" and I would like to get the trunk painted to match and get it all installed by Christmas as a surprise. Any insight from experienced folks would be appreciated. Thanks.
7. I would like to get a head count on how many people we have coming to St. Jude on Oct. 1. So if you are coming and bringing guest, which I know some are, please post how many you plan or might have. Jason, if you could get me a count on how many NARR riders will be there, that would be great, because we may have to have more than one guide for the tour.
8. The question is to anyone that has installed the HD licence plate light bar on their bike. What has anyone done to finish off the 90 degree bend at the top of the bracket with the two holes in it. I believe the two holes were used to bolt it to a tour pack or frame work that the tour pack is attached to. With the RSTD the bend is very visible since we do not have a rear trunk, it's not that it is terribly distasteful, it just looks like something is missing.
9. I am planning to do the LSCT this summer and I think it should be easy to do in 8 days, counting the day to the Circle Route from North Central Illinois and the day spent going home from the Circle Route. IOW, I think we will spend 6 days on the Circle Tour. I am interested in your experiences on this Tour (on a motorcycle, of course). We (Deb and I) don't plan on making any "Iron Butt" runs while on this trip. I am currently planning for the longest day to be 265 miles from Marathon, Ontario to Grand Marais, Minnesota. Any suggestions for places to stay and for places to eat and for places to "don't miss"? Although I am thinking to take this ride in August, do any of y'all think otherwise? We haven't decided if it will be a camping trip or motels or both. If, camping I will be pulling a trailer. Is the camping a good idea for old folks like us?
10. Well Don : We have disagreed with many issues on this site and I enjoyed sturring the pot If I didnt do it The site would be boring Anyways I would Like to Thank you and your website for fulfilling my Highschool Dream to tour along country sides of USA. My dream was to tour alone but not to ride along side with a group of respectable, generous and Kind hearted Members( Oh yah some odd ball individuals) I will never forget, The gift this site had given me and the hard work and donations From Brad and Lonna and other members that help. As you know it didnt felt right for me to keep it. I now have Health Issues (we wont talk about that ) My riding days are over with the recommendation of my doctors and myself I met alot of new friends and a few that didnt appreciate my comments from the open mined CANUCK It was great I had the opportunity to own several scoots with a low budget , I have had 13 scoots and the 3 scoots I have enjoyed the most was the 1st Gen , The FJR 1300 and The 1985 Honda Super Magna A Special Note To Brad and Lonna: All I can say is that The world would be in a better place today if there were more people like You two I will do my best to be on the site more It depends how I feel Thanks again E-Fishin-C
11. Did not see any other posts for wiring a Royal Star Tour Deluxe here. Never ever done this on a motorcycle before. 1. Do I just pick up a standard 4 wire connector for a pick up truck ? 2. Does the Royal Star Tour Deluxe (2007) have wiring harness somewhere stashed under seat/something ? 3. Does the standard 4 wire trailer wiring work for most trailers and such ? I hope there is a good write up with lots of pictures somewhere on this for me. This is going to be mostly for an extra light accessory for now. We are going to fab (with help from a good friend and brother in the Lord) up a flag holder for the bike to fit my hitch, for PGR trips. Then later I want a trailer. Thanks for any help. Fuzzy
12. This bike is almost perfect. Victory is at least listening. http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/victory-motorcycles/touring/cross-country-tour/pages/overview.aspx?WT.si_n=VIC-AD-US-PRMO-2012_CROSS_CTRY_TOUR&WT.si_x=1&WT.ac=VIC-AD-US-PRMO-2012_CROSS_CTRY_TOUR
13. Hello Everyone: Following in the foots steps of a few other RSTD owners. I recently finished installing a Harley Tour Pack on my 2005 RSTD. I had it painted to match the raven black color of our bike. I wired up the tail, running and brake lights last night. I was pleased with my first DMY trunk however we really wanted something a little bigger. I bolted the Harley Trunk directly to my Wompus rack and my wife was satisfied with the height. I have pictures but have not had good luck up loading them to the website the past few weeks. I have tried resizing them, but no luck yet. We are looking forward to the Cody Rally!!!
14. I have been looking and can not find this anywhere on the forum or online. so I will ask. Is there any difference in the cables and hoses on the venture vs the tour deluxe? Other than the deluxe are longer to accomadate the taller and more pullback the bars have compared to the venture. Just curious.
15. We took Bradt, NaughT and their daughter Brooke on a Louisiana swamp tour at Honey Island Swamp while they were here and to New Orleans the next day. Here are some pics of the swamp tour, didn't take my camera to NO. http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m232/kebranton/Swamp%20tour%204th%20july2011/
16. Some guy just came and bought my 06 Tour Deluxe! I wasn't really trying too hard to sell it but now it is gone. Not sure what I am going to do. I have my eye on a 53 Mercury!! Mark
17. Got my new-to-me Corbin dual touring seat today!! Wooohoooo.... haven't taken a ride with it yet but that will happen very shortly! Found it via Facebook group (Yamaha Royal Star Venture and Tour Deluxe Fans, and Owners). Don't it look purrdy? I'll let ya'll know how it feels later.

19. on which uni trunk on E-Bay would be the stronger one of the two between the DMY or the VIP trunk. I just don't have the the extra cash to get RSV or the Harley tour trunk. So if anyone out there has exp. with either one I would like your input. Thanks Joe,
20. Has anyone put a fender bib on your Tour Deluxe? If so, do you like it?
21. I'm a new member. I am going to buy the clutch up grade from Skydoc_17 for my 99 Venture. I will need someone to help me change it. I live in Hamshire, TX about 6miles from Winnie. I'm retired military and retired from my job. I sure could use the help. I bought the Venture in 03 when my tour was over in Afghanistan. All I've done is put K&N filters, tires changed the oil, and tune up by a mechanic. Dana csmbrak@aol.com
22. Here is a little walk through history you might enjoy. http://www.microcarmuseum.com/info.html just make sure to take the virtual tour....It'll keep you busy for a while.
23. Has anyone taken the fairing from a Venture and mounted it on a Tour Deluxe? If so, can one simply take off the stock speedo on the RSTD and mount the Venture fairing without adding any special mountings? If mounting hardware is needed, does it replace the windshield hardware on the Tour Deluxe? I like the Venture look but need to stick with my Tour Deluxe, which already has the Venture trunk and passenger seat. Pics on my homepage. Hoppe wants big bucks for their radio equipped fairing and I really don't need or want the audio . . . and they don't sell a fairing without the radio/CD. Any guidance would be appreciated. If it's workable, I'll be looking for an undamaged upper fairing off of a salvage Venture. Thanks.
24. I have a little project in mind for my 06 tour deluxe so I am looking for a used even beat up seat of any brand (corbin, oem or mustang). I don't even care if it has any leather on it or foam. I just do not want to experiment with one that is usable right now. I saw a bike that had been reworked with a "different" design in the leather and I am wanting to try my hand at it since I have a little extra leather hanging around the shop. The other thing is I want to see of I can fashion a bracket for the passenger portion that we can use for handles and cup holders etc. The seat I saw mimics a car seat with button and tuck design. I am just not sure if I want the small buttons on it. Have any of you seen anything like this and what are your thoughts. PM me if you have anything that may work.
25. BEAR AND I HAD GOOD RIDE YESTERDAY TO GET THE FINAL FEW POINTS FOR THE "SEE THE USA WITH THE AVA TOUR" http://www.photoshow.com/watch/jP2Xg4MU pHILL
