  1. I am now officially an old timer. I will be getting two, count 'em, two hearing aides from the VA on 6/28. I guess the years in the artillery finally caught up to me. Maybe now I will be able to hear what my son is talking about regarding the brakes squeeking on Doreen's van. To al those going to Don's MD, have fun and watch out for yourselves, nobody else on the road will!! Dave
  2. After the funeral Friday my Daughter went up to spend the Holiday with her nephew in the thumb of Michigan. I road the bike up to bring her back and for the 2 hour ride back she didn't shut up once. Did not hook up the intercom and she just rattled on and on and on. If I didn't answer her she just answered herself. When we hit rain I figured she would close her visor and couldn't talk, but no, left it open and just kept talking away. Man did I get a ear full of her future hopes and dreams. Even when we stopped to get gas she talked while I was pumping, followed me in to pay for it and never missed a beat. At times I just couldn't keep from laughing. I better have a good cell phone plan when I let her have her own phone.
  3. I've pretty much been sold out of VentureRider Guardian bells for a while now. I actually had a handful put back just in case but they are gone now. So...I'm certainly in no hurry to order more of them if you all have what you want but if there is any demand, I will order more at any time. Just let me know. Here is a link to them if any of you don't know what I'm talking about. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17406
  4. They say anyways:rotfl:, even send me a check in the mail, just missed part of my last name:doh:. Obviously they already have my name and address and that is all they are asking for other then talking to their claims agent which I haven't done. There's got to be a catch:bang head:, I'm not that lucky, am I??? Forex financial Services (Canada)
  5. [Annie typing] G'DAY FOLKS Out earning a dollar in the truck, but just spoke to Annie and she said she was "talking" to you guys and I wanted to add my greeting to you all
  6. Ok been a while since I updated you all on Muffinman. They got word they may be moving again by next week. They'll be going to a base near Iran about 6 miles from it. Evidently it's an old soviet era base. So I'll let ya'll know when I know. They've been talking about this for a while, but nobody could make up their minds what was going to happen. Kinda scary the folks they put in charge now. Oh as far as my weather looks like we passed to the rain line, Yipee. Margaret
  7. I let a friend talk me, last minute, into going to the International MC Show in DC this weekend when I earlier said I wouldn't. Overall it was ok. Packed like sardines though and very few real deals to be had. I did see a guy talking with a salesman over a 2010 Royal Star Venture. I stuck my nose in and said I had one and loved it big time. We wound up talking for a long time. He was looking at a RSV and the Gold Wing. He liked the fact that the RSV was different looking whereas the GW looks kind of too sterile. He certainly seemed swayed by what I had to say. I should have gone back to ask the Yamaha guy what my cut was. Something I didn't realize until the show was that Black was the only color option for the 2010 models.

Guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Couple thousand miles closer I would look at it.
  9. new 09 RSV-S with about 1000 miles on it. I will write up my first impressions in a later post but first I have this question. My gas cap and gas tank get to the point of being so hot it would almost burn my hand. is this the way they are?? does not seem right! I am not talking about it setting in the sun, I am talking about when driving it either back roads (not stop and go but hills and twisties) or in town stop and go. air temp above 90 degrees F. Thanks Jerry
  10. I was at a local Dealer this past Saturday for a 'show and shine'. My 07 wasn't entered, I just went to look and for the free Hot dogs. Anyway, while in the parking lot at my bike, a couple guys with older Suzuki 750s commented on my shirt that had the 'Tail of the Dragon' logo on the back & asked if I had run the dragon. I said that I had last summer and that it is alot of fun. I also said that some people on here and others I have talked to have told me of other roads in that area that have even more twisties. We went on talking about the roads down there and I told them that after a few hours, I had to find an Interstate for some straight roads, so I could cover some distances. And that being from Nebraska, I'm not used to curves all day long. Then he said it.....'Well that big bike of yours isn't made to handle curves like that'. Well that did it!! I got all defensive and told him about while doing the dragon there was a crotch rocket we were following that wouldn't get out of my way, we had to pull over to give him time to get waaay ahead of us so we could play. (Of course, the crotch rocket HAD to be a novice rider, but I didn't tell them that). And how I could smell my front brakes, I was riding my bike so hard! In my younger days, I would've challenged them to a road race Of course this ended the conversation. They casually went back to talking amongst themselves. Probably thinking I was full of 'IT'. My wife just stood there grinning at me like 'you old fool'. As I look back, It was like they were calling one of my kids ugly. I guess I have finally become attached to this machine. craigr

    RSV in Vancouver WA

On Page 90 of the October issue of 'Motorcycle Cruiser' there is a picture and short write-up on Troy Prices's '06 Midnight RSV. I checked the member's sction and can't find him listed (although this was the first time I have used this feature and may not have done it correctly). Looks like we need to get in touch with a potential new member. Hey Larry AKA - silverdeer, this is the guy I was talking about at the Leavenworth M&E. oldsalt
  12. I know a man that has 07 RSV with a Hannigan trike kit for sale. The bike has less than 300 miles(thats actual miles) on it. If anyone in the Louisville Ky area is interested contact me.I was talking to him tonight and he still has it. It is blue and black:322:

Sat. while waiting on Boomer and Jude for the M/E in Huntsville I was talking with EBAT, I explain love the bike but miss my clock that I had on the v-star, he said you have clock and then he walk over there and show me, I know I read this somewhere and it didn't click with me, I guess just figuring the audio system was enough for me... So I get to Ala. enjoying the new clock on the way down:happy65: Then while was talking in the parking lot one of the other members didn't knwo about the clock.. I will not call his name here......coughWanderercough. Like me he over looked it too.. Anyway Had a great meal and ride down and back.. Hope we can do it again.. Scary:dancefool:

    ECK finally did it...

...but it took him all the way from Colorado to Georgia to get it done, even then it took a little help from 86er. Those of us at the International meet in '07 know what I'm talking about.
  15. I stopped at a dealer today and was talking about how my Venture sounds like a sewing machine and that I miss the 'Potato, Potato' sound of my V-Twin. He took me to his Venture and turned it on - It sounded great! He said they were slip-on mufflers, something like BUB...???? He couldn't remember the name of them. Do any of you have any idea what ones he is talking about? craigr
  16. Alan (hubby) and a friend finally had time to fit the Wedgetail Outrider (Voyager) on the weekend. It's not ready for me to ride yet, need to change handlebars and floorboards, and make holders for my elbow crutches yet--but we are getting there For those wondering what that is on my front wheel it's a leading link suspension. It was on for the sidecar, and an engineer told me to leave it on for the conversion. He has the (Voyager) kit on his Goldwing, so I guess he knows what he is talking about It moves the centre of the axle forward, rake angle changed too. Makes it like power steering when you turn
  17. Of course Im talking about the new iPhone. The new iPhone 3Gs. What...did you think I was talking about a new Venture? We can only hope. http://www.apple.com/ http://images.apple.com/iphone/home/images/hero-1-20090608.jpg
  18. OK, I gotta ask! I have seen all sorts of odd things on the back of bikes. No, I'm not talking about the passengers, I'm talking about the stuffed monkeys, pigs, dogs, even a skull in a basket! Fill me in on these riding buddies. Que paso?
  19. I have an '09 RSV and I can hear what sounds like ignition interference in the headsets. Also, the CB goes ito the receive mode when I blow the horn and sometimes without the horn blowing and no one talking to me. This creates a loud static noise in the headsets. Does anyone else have this problem?
  20. I was talking with my boss today about ST.Jude and told him i wa tring to figure out a way to make a good impact this year since its my first year to be involved. It turns out he know's all about St. Jude he had a friend who's child spent some time there. So he offered to allow me to have some cook out's at work like 1 a month during the spring and summer months. now along with this he has also offered to donate the hamburgers and hot dogs for me to do thisalong with our big grill. I work for an intermodal facility for the railroad those of you who never heard of that it is the import and export side of the rail road so we have truck drivers in and out of the place all day and they like us have eating disorders so im thinking this is going to work pretty well. I also found out today i can get a corprate donation based on the amount of hours i put into this with a max of $400 that will buy a few teddy bears.. just thought iwould share this good news with everyone. Ron
  21. Okay guys (and gals), I need to get my head around this issue about the 'whine' I keep hearing about. I'm about to make the closing deal on my 09 RSV and I'm getting really concerned so I'd like to ask a bunch of questions in regards to this and get some positive answers. 1) Just how serious an issue are we talking about here? I've heard that 'Hey, crank up the tunes and you won't notice it!' as an answer but that doesn't cut it. What if I just wanted to hear the wind whistling by instead and get lost in my thoughts rather then cruise to 'Born to be Wild' all day? 2) Just how common is this problem? I mean, percentage wise, are we talking 10%? 25%? 75%? 0.1% maybe? 3) I've read over and over again how Yamaha denies there's any problem but does anyone know what industry insiders say? Are they looking or have they found a solution? 4) To me it's obvious that the whine originates from the shaft drive but have V-Star and VMax riders reported a similar problem? What about other bike manufacturers such as Honda or Suzuki? Any other shaft drive riders reporting problems? 5) And finally, (this question goes out to those that actually have experienced the problem) most of you (just as I have) researched the bike prior to committing yourselves to buy it.........so if this problem is such a pain in the butt, how come y'all still went out and purchased one in the first place? I hope some of these questions get answered cause I have yet to see anything in regards to them and hopefully they'll help other future potential Venture buyers to come to a better, more informative decision. My deposit cheque has been cashed but I still may have an out. I truly appreciate the idea of owning a Venture but I need my fears put to rest before I close this deal. And as usual, I thank you all in advance for your wonderful input....... Bluez

  23. Hi, New here, Getting a nice first gen Venture tomorrow, 1983. I will be riding with my wife. We will be using full face helmets. What is a economical (not necessary cheap) intercom for us to use? Main use is just talking back and forth so wired to each other is fine with us. Now if possible a way to plug in a mp3 player so we could both listen would be nice but mainly just her and I talking back and forth. Any suggestions, please? Thanks Brian
  24. Trying to stretch the mileage per gallon of gas, I went out and bought another bike. I pick up a Yamaha XT225 Dual-sport ( now they have fancy names we used to call them enduro's). What a great little bike, it can get up 80+ mpg, there seems to be a big following on XT225/250 web site too. Now I can take advantage of another part of our sport. Not motor-cross my body could not put up with that anymore. I am talking about leisure exploring the woods. Now where are there some woods on Long Island? That makes bike # 4, my wife is a very understanding women! http://i35.tinypic.com/4j0z86.jpg
