  1. Just got back from Bongobobbys meet and eat at the Hearth restaurant...My son and his girlfriend met us there and met my friends for the first time....We had a great meal and tons of laughs....when leaving my son came up to me and thanked me for the invitation and stated "YOU KNOW NONE OF YOU ARE RIGHT IN THE HEAD".......Ahhhhhh....its so nice that he thinks so highly of my friends...kind of reminds me of what I thought of his friends when he was a teenager... :rotf: :rotf:
  2. A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car."The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut." The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair, and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair." "Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"
  3. :whistling:It was announced today Kymco Has purchased Buell motorcyles, from Harley David's son. http://www.buell.com/en_US/home.html
  4. Well, my influence (for good or bad) has rubbed off on my eldest son, Curtiss. He is on spring break from college this week and leaving today to go riding/camping. Curt is taking my 2008 KLR650 which is a reliable machine loaded down with everything he needs. This bike is really a great packmule. He will head out about noon today and is aiming towards Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park. He wants to camp, hike, and just sit around and read (going to school to be a literature professor). I envy him and want to go too. His route today will take him thru central Illinois (Rockford to Normal) and then over into Indiana. Once he gets into Indiana, I expect he will get off the interstate slab. Will likely stay tonight in the Hoosier Nat'l Forest near French Lick. Tomorrow will see him down to Mammoth Cave. I will post a picture of the loaded bike and son once he is ready to go. If he runs into trouble, I may need to rely on the graciousness and support of this family until I can get down to him. While he is 22, he is still my little boy (sure - 6'4" little boy) and I want to protect him the best I can (without him knowing it). I will keep you all up to date. I love my son and am very excited for him to make this trip alone. It will be a great experience for him. Wish him luck. RR
  5. Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong. Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian" He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His 16 year old son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?" "Well, you came home after 3 a.m., drunk and out of your mind You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door." Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me??" His son replies, "Oh THAT... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed.... "Leave me alone, I'm married!!" Broken Coffee Table $239.99 Hot Breakfast $4.20 Two Aspirins $.38 Saying the right thing, at the right time PRICELESS
  6. Just said goodbye to my son. He is leaving the Island and heading to some village east of the rockies. I believe it is called Toronto. Going to meet up with his girlfriend and find some work. There just isn't any work out here for him. Has his bike in the van and is looking to ride back there next summer.
  7. A son asked his mother the following question: 'Mom, why are wedding dresses white?' The mother looks at her son and replies: 'Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your bride is pure.' The son thanks his Mom and goes off to double-check this with his father. 'Dad why are wedding dresses white?' The father looks at his son in surprise and says: 'Son, all household appliances come in white.'

    The Robot

John was a salesman's delight when it came to any kind of unusual gimmicks. His wife, Marsha, had long ago given up trying to get him to change. One day John came home with another one of his unusual purchases. It was a robot that John claimed was actually a lie detector. It was about 5:30 that afternoon when Tommy, their 11 year old son, returned home from school. Tommy was over 2 hours late. "Where have you been? Why are you over 2 hours late getting home?" asked John. "Several of us went to the library to work on an extra credit project," said Tommy. The robot walked around the table and slapped Tommy, knocking him completely out of his chair. "Son," said John, "this robot is a lie detector, now tell us where you really were after school." "We went to Bobby's house and watched a movie." said Tommy. "What did you watch?" asked Marsha. "The Ten Commandments." answered Tommy. The robot went around to Tommy and once again slapped him, knocking him off his chair. With his lip quivering, Tommy got up, sat down and said, "I am sorry I lied. We really watched a tape called Sex Queen." "I am ashamed of you son," said John. "When I was your age, I never lied to my parents." The robot walked around to John and delivered a whack that nearly knocked him out of his chair. Marsha doubled over in laughter, almost in tears and said, "Boy, did you ever ask for that one! You can't be too mad with Tommy. After all, he is your son!" The robot walked around to Marsha and knocked her out of her chair.
  9. OK, who's goin' other than me and two of my boys? We will be there about noon. I am tall and, ...ahem... big bones, one son is just as tall and thin, the other son is about 6 foot and thin. May be an elderly gentleman (my Dad) with us also. If you see us, stop and say hello. Is it spring yet? RR
  10. Does anyone know anything about a 1987 Suzuki VS 700 Intruder? Saw one on Craig's List near here and looks like a decent deal. Photos make it look like it is in good shape. It has a corbin seat, slip on pipes and drag bars mounted. Seems that this could be a next bike for my 16 year old son. They are asking $2500, but we would offer less than that, somewhere around $1800 to $2000. Thanks, Dave
  11. Our son found this photo online, and I wondered if he is a member here. Notice the passengers. Yama Mama http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1634360&id=1436053047
  12. My son and daughter live with there mom and over last summer i tried to take her to court and get them. The judge decided that it was better for them to stay there and it ok that her and her boy friend fight all the time around the kids and the police have been called and they smoke like freight trains around them. My sone text me tonight and wanted to know if there is a god why does he hate him so much and make him stay there. How do you answer that?? i cant argue with it and I dont lie to him.
  13. Our youngest son, Jason, showed up for Thanksgiving on his new ride... He just got home from Afghanistan and couldn't wait another day to get a new ride. I tried to get him to buy a new RSTD, but as you can see, it didn't work. He still wants a sporty model with SPEED. If only I was younger...
  14. Just wanted to give you all an update on our son, Jason. He flew into Columbus, MS this morning. He's been in Afghanistan for the last 7 months and is home for good...or until the Air Force wants him back over there I guess. Not sure what his next assignment will be yet...but we are very thankful he is home for now. Thank you all for your support during this time. We appreciate it and hope all our military personnel make it home safe. Don and Patti

  17. OK, I have to fess up that I did it in my 2005 Chrysler 300c "Cage". Nicknamed the USS Saratoga. It corners a bit better than that ship though! My son and I were in N. Carolina most of the week starting with last Saturday, to set up hotels and venues for a car convention we put on each year. We were looking at the Chapel Hill/Raleigh-Durham areas, and also Charlotte. (The NASCAR Hall of Fame is WONDERFUL and a must see if you get to that area!). On the way back to Illinois we decided (well I decided, and my son, a non rider) went along with it! I drove the first time through all of rt 129, and he drove back to the dragons den hotel/restaurant etc. We ate lunch there watching bikes come and go, and then drove the skyway on the way back to IL. We had a blast, and only one Harley caught up to me, and another bike caught up to my son. We let both by as soon as possible, but were proud that our cage was able to keep up with all other traffic, in fact other than those two bikes we never saw anyone else going our direction, only bikes (and not a lot) going the other way. There were two accidents, one had an ambulance and one did not, both were on the skyway. I am glad I got to do it in my car, I will be much better prepared when I take my bike out that way, hopefully later this month or next.
  18. I don't know how I managed to do it but the large sleeve my canopy goes into disappeared. I did not realize this until I was packing everything up. I even checked the two large trashbags and did not see it. So, if anyone has any idea where the sleeve went, please let me know as I borrowed it from my son. Thanks, RandyA

    Moving son

We got to ride this week, but it wasn't for the fun of it. We helped my son move all his belongings back home from Fort Drum. The ride was on I-90 and 86. Talk about boring! The fence along the thruway is like a impenetrable wall, grown over with vegetation so seeing anything but pavement is not going to happen. He is leaving for the other sandbox, rock pit later this month for a year. He finally gets to a base after 14 yrs that we thought that we would be able to visit him at regularly and now this. Can't complain to much, he has grown into a very level headed man. Just wish he'd hurry up and marry so there would be more grand kids to spoil! Oh yeah, the 86 purred like a kitten 45 mpg at 72 mph, God I love this bike!
  20. Lets all be careful out there even at stop lights. Watch those mirrors while you wait. ROSENBERG, Texas -- A Marine survived two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan only to lose his life in a crash at home. You always hope you wake up and it's a dream, but the reality is he's not gonna be back," father Dwanye Stidman said. Cpl. David Stidman, 23, returned home to Rosenberg about four months ago. Instead of spending quality time together, fishing and working at the family's manufacturing business, Dwayne Stidman is making arrangements for his only son's funeral. "It was very heart-wrenching when I got his belongings back," Stidman said. Police said the Marine was at the intersection of F.M. 762 and Brazos Center Boulevard at about 12:45 a.m. Monday when his motorcycle was rammed from behind by a pickup truck. Authorities said the driver, Sean McGuire, 33, was arrested shortly after the wreck and accused of driving under the influence. "Of course, you're angry and you have all of the emotions from guilt of why did I live and he had to die?" Dwayne Stidman said. This father's guilt comes after his son returned to help him recuperate after he, too, was hit by an alleged drunken driver and badly injured while riding his motorcycle. "He was willing to stop his life … to come back and help me out," Dwayne Stidman said. The father wants to repay the favor by pushing for tighter penalties for those who chose to drive drunk and drive. "Its just something ... we need to make sure it does not happen to someone else," he said. He said it's especially important because for the rest of his life he'll have to go on without his son, his best friend and proudest joy. "I lost my son and I will miss him beyond words," he said. "I hope to see him when I get there, too."
  21. I sold the Honda 600 Shadow VLX today. I really like that bike but the insurance was unaffordable with 3 bikes ($2400 just for it). My daughter, son and wife all learnt to ride on that bike. It was hard to watch someone drive off with it. It just didn’t make sense to have it just sit in the garage for the next 3 to 4 years. The gentleman was very pleased and happy with the shape and looks of it. Funny thing, my son didn’t want me to sell it to anyone that he felt wouldn’t keep care of it. He wouldn’t sell it to two younger boys that tied to purchase it. It was his first bike and was hard for him to see it drive off into the distance.
  22. Anyone close to Kingman, KS that can take a look at this bike: http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Motorcycles-/6024/i.html?_trkparms=65%253A12%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A2492&_nkw=goldwing&_dmpt=US_motorcycles&_sticky=1&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_sop=2&_sc=1 The ad indicates that it had some damage and brakes unevenly. My son is interested in this but wants to check it (or have it checked out) where it has a salvage title. Dave
  23. Whoo-Hoo! I just got my early Father's Day gift. My son got me a new Hide A Hitch from Diamond R Accessories. As expected it is a great design and looks very sturdy, and I can hardly wait to get this installed! Thank you Son!
