  1. I have an extra seat for the 83 Venture that I bought first of the year. I'm wanting to recover it in black velour cloth and at the same time install gel pads. I was going to have the local shop do it but after seeing their work I better off doing it myself which stinks as well. Do we have professional seat re-builders in the family? If so I would like to see if any of you could help me out. I'll pay for all shipping cost and items needed for the seat If money is needed up front for materials this is no problem either. Would like to have it done before June or July so this will also give someone plenty of time to rebuilt it. Give me a PM Thanks Buddy
  2. Need a black seat for my 83. I sent mine to be repaired, and the guy left town (i heard to get awaw from child support or something). My seat is not at his house either. None on ebay. I have the following parts available..... Rear Master Cyl. Coil packs and wires CDI / TCI exciter box clutch cover Soon will have a 1200 engine (with bad second gear) but runs good. junioratvsales@gmail.com thanks.
  3. Well I think I have completed everything that I planned for the winter projects and it is just the beginning of December. Installed the Dyna 3000, Barons sub sonic tach on the brake reservoir, K&N air filters, new Avon on the front, auxiliary power plug behind the drivers seat, re-routed the wifes communication cable so that she can access it easier, and tightened all the bolts that I can get too. I don't think that there is too much more I can do exept get out and ride.
  4. For anyone interested, I have a Yamaha/Corbin complete set (dual touring seat and both passenger and driver backrests) for the RSV '99-up... listed in the classifieds. Thought I'd list here before putting them on eBay. Thanks, Larry "I have for sale a complete set of Yamaha/Corbin seat & backrests for '99-up Venture. This includes the dual touring seat and both passenger and driver backrests. They're used but in very nice condition. They'll sit you a little lower and back from the stock seating position. The seat is narrower in the front so it may help guys with shorter legs reach the ground at stops (I'm 6'1" so I can't say for sure how much it would help a shorter rider). I want to offer them here first before I put them on eBay. I'll take $525 + actual shipping costs (cont. USA only). I'll take pay-pal or a money order. Thanks, Larry" http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/docs/docDownload.aspx?guid=627950A4-5007-4254-BE23-A151EA11F99A&webtag=vrider http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/docs/docDownload.aspx?guid=25B69D5E-0B7D-444B-ACD7-14DFF939F97E&webtag=vrider
  5. There is a solitary bolt centered on the rear fender just behind the passenger seat. Does anyone know what it is for? I was just wondering.
  6. I see that somebody just posted in the classifieds that they bought a '99 that somebody has put the pillow top seat on. He doesn't like it and is looking for a regular seat. Might be a good chance for one of you who are wanting the pillow top to make a deal. I agree with him though, the pillow top is WAY soft for me. I know that some of you really like them though.
  7. i would like to get a set of black seats for the yamaha royal star venture preferably 2001 and up, stock seats are fine, front seat, passenger seat, and passenger backrest. i have a venture 2000 mm and i don't want the beige seats anymore, they are in excellent condition. i perfebably have stock seats. i'll buy the seats or trade for them. keith walston kwdrifter@hotmail.com
  8. We have a member here by the username enforcers who is looking for a stock seat for him 2000 RSV. He needs both seats and the passenger backrest. He want's to switch from the brown seat of the MM to black seats. If anybody has a set that they want to get rid of or trade for brown, please shoot him an email at kwdrifter@hotmail.com He is having some problems posting and we are working through that. Thanks
  9. Does anyone know of a back rest that will work with the stock seat, or could give me some websites for a complete seat with backrest? ( Good quality, cheap price ) Thanks, johnnyp
  10. Hello all, Hey i'm looking for a little help here. I placed a bid on what is suppose to be a seat for a 2nd gen RS. And now the seller has posted a note stating that he's not sure is it in fact fits a RoyalStar. Please, if you have an early model 2nd Gen-RS 97-2001'ish, could you please take a look at the ebay link and post any opinions [pertaining to the seat, not other various short comings that my ail you ] FYI...not that i want to replace my Corbin saddle - i love it. i would just like to have the oem set on had too. Thanks in advance. Ron
  11. As you all know, Old Hippy(Chuck), my other half was hit on our 88 in August. We had just purchased a seat skin from coveralls.biz. We hadn't even had a chance to use it and it got mangled with the bike. We needed it to keep our cloth seat dry and clean. We had contacted them when we had to have paperwork for the insurance company, so they knew about the crash. At the time David Rutledge(coveralls) stated that if we got a new bike he would replace the cover free of charge. With everything going on I just let it slip from my mind. Yesterday I received an email from him asking if we had found a bike, that his offer still stood to replace the damaged cover. I now have a brand new one on the way free of charge. Kudos to Coverall.biz. They are a great company and caring. I know Roadkill has spoken to them also. Keep up the great work.

    New Seat

I just got back from a 1000 mile ride and have decided that I need a new seat for my 07 RSTD. I am 6'4" and the lip on the back of the stock seat pushes into my rear end. Its also too hard. What is the softest seat out there and works for a tall rider? I even go the custom route if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like everything else for a bike.

  14. I just wanted to put in a favorable plug for the Mustang Seat Co. I ordered one last Thursday - got a confirmation e-mail within an hour. Just a few minutes ago, for the heck of it, I e-mailed them just to see the status of the order. They e-mailed me back within 5 minutes stating that the order was shipped last Thursday (same day I ordered) and that I should get my seat very soon. (They had suggested 4-5 business days and it sure looks like it will happen!) Firstly, that's pretty darn good shipping time from them to me (in Canada) and secondly, I have NEVER received a reply e-mail that quickly. I e-mailed them back again to say thanks and sure enough, 5 minutes later, they acknowledged my 2nd e-mail and said they appreciated my business. So - a huge thanks and many words of praise to a fine company!!!!!! Eugene :clap2::clap2::clap2:
  15. Greetings: I ride a 2006 RSTD and the past few rides my shoulders and back get quite sore/tired resulting in my having to stop every 30-40 minutes. I have ridden about 18,000 km this past year and this is getting worse -( it was not bad at the start) I have been thinking about the Mustang seat and backrest. Those of you who have switched to a Mustang or even a Corbin - did you find this helped the stiffness and soreness? How about highway pegs - will that also help? Thanks in advance Eugene
  16. About two years ago, I upgraded my seat to a Mustang. Unfortunetly, I didn't order the one with the backrest. Now here I am wanting the backrest, but don't want to buy a whole new seat. Does anyone know how to add a backrest to a Mustang, or know of anyone who can? Mustang cannot add it on. I have to spend $700.00 for a new seat. Or better yet...knowing the ingenious members we have here, does anyone have any other possible homemade solutions? My back thanks you!
  17. Will an aftermarket (looks like saddleman) 89 seat fit an 84? Looking at one one ebay right now, would like to replace my stock seat, just wondering. Dan http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270174470444&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
  18. Does anyone know if there is any difference in seats between a 1999 RSV and a 2006. I am looking for a seat and just found out that I can buy a new 1999 seat, shipped to my door, for about $10.00 more than what some are being sold for used. Wasn't sure if there was a difference or not. Even from Yamaha they are different prices.
  19. My dog was nice enough to tear up BOTH of my seats. If you have one sitting in the garage, let me know how much you want for it. Color doesn't matter. I have an 84 standard, but any seat 83-93 should fit. Thanks
  20. I am looking for a stock seat that will fit a 2006 Royal Star Venture preferrably in good condition. No pillow top or studs, just a regular seat. I'm hoping someone has one lying around collecting dust that they are willing to part with at a fair price.

    Trunk or no trunk....

Greetings all, So I've seen several ventures without the trunk and I kinda like the look. Before I attempt the eight bolt modification I was wondering if anyone in here has already removed the trunk and if so can you share some pics with me and explain the process?? I plan on putting on an aftermarket seat but leave the antennas in place so I still get good reception...any thoughts would be great! ....and yes my wife might not enjoy the ride as much but if it's a long trip I'll need the trunk anyway and back on it would go. - Dave
  22. :no-no-no: No., No , No .... not them there nutts , but the scoot's seat nuts .:rotf: Having heard people talking about being able to take the scoots seat off for multiple reasons , wing nuts vibrating off and loosing them , or not being able to access a wrench easily . So I did the same thing like I did for my saddle bag bolts . Using the original nuts off the stock seat , I drilled a hole completely through the bottom of the 2 seat nuts using an 1/8" bit . I took an 1" stainless steel split ring (like used on key rings) and threaded one through each holes of the each nut . Then I took a stainless steel 10" fishing leader (one end has swivel and other end a snap hook) and thread the swivel end into one of the split rings on one of the nuts . Then I re-attached the nuts back onto the seat , then thread the fishing leader over to the other nut and connected the snap into the other split ring/nut .The leader prevents the nuts from backing off . Cost was only a few dollars and took about 15 minutes to make . Here's a photo . BEER30
  23. Which seat do most RSV owner find to be the most comfortable. The Midnight seat w/studs or the stock pillow top. A local dealer has a Midnight with the Pillow Top.
  24. I was at my stealer getting a new tire and they were uncrating and new Victory Vision and "getting it hot" for the showroom. We watched as they bolted this thing together and my first thought was "this looks odd". It has some nice features, but it really looks different - enough to buy, I'm not so sure. the 106CI motor looks good, but I just can't get past the fact that it's a motorcycle built by a watercraft company - and from what I hear, not a reliable one at that! The huge-looking saddlebags are actually pretty small as most of their bulk is appearance and not space and the gauges are a mile from the rider, making the bike feel huge from the driver's seat. There are dials and a nice LCD panel on the dash to control the built in radio and MP3 hookup in a bin on the tank. The model I saw did not have the extra chrome or a trunk and, I think, retails starting at around $19.5k - a lot of money to risk on something that may get laughs everywhere you go! If it had the Yamaha/Honda/HD or some other comparatively respected manufacturer's name on the side, it may be worth a chance, but Victory, not for me, I don't think.
  25. Well guys, I had been talking to Dan Stevenson about modifying his pillow top seat. At the time I told him that even though I had modified several RSV seats, I had never been into a pillow top version yet. But after what I saw from what Pat Hannon (jakenator6) had done to his, it was certainly not what expected. So I told Dan that I just happened to have a pillow top off my 2001 RSV up in my attic, so why didn't I just uncover it and see what I could do to make it better. It was just like Pat had shown where there were about 8 button hooks holding down the pillow top. And there was that layer of 1 1/4" foam covering the entire seat. And just like Pat explained I had to carefully tear it loose from the seat foam. But when I got if off, what I saw was a pretty sound foundation of base foam. And unlike the other RSV seats, this seat had a pronounced outer support built into the shape. On the other seats I usually have to cut the center down flatter just a bit before I start on the tailbone relief to provide this outer support. This seat already had this done in my opinion. So all I did to this seat was 1. cut the tail bone relief and 2. cut a curvature into the back of the seat. The back of the seat seemed to be more flat, putting pressure on the backside just above the crack . All the time I was cutting, I would put it back on the bike to see how it felt and this curve felt better. However, before I decided to put the cover back on I could clearly see that a layer of foam would be necessary to maintain the pillow top effect. So I used the old foam as a pattern to cut a new layer of memory foam (isolastic foam). The standard foam even though it appears to compress the same as even memory foam, it is more linear and pushes back across the entire area being compressed. Isolastic foam seems to compress more where there is more pressure and fills in where there is less pressure. In other words, it seems to fill in all the gaps. It also compresses to almost nothing under pressure but then springs back to it's original shape when the pressure is released. In finishing up, I glued the layer of memory foam to the seat foundation and then installed the cover using all of the button hooks to give it that pillow top effect. And after stapling the cover back on it looked pretty natural, but felt much better. How much better I don't know, which is why I'm going to give this seat to Dan Stevenson for a trip he is taking with his uncle to Montana later this month. Hopefully he will report back favorly or give me feedback to make any changes to my modification to the design of this seat. Attached is a picture of both the before and after of the pillow top seat. I just happened to have a 2005 RSV with a pillow top in my garage so this is a picture of both seats. The modified seat is on the bike where you should see the change to the tail bone area as well as the curved back. Stay tuned for more, Rick
