  1. Finally after 45 years I bought my first home now I won't be able to go on long bike rides but if anyone is near I have a room and tools .
  2. just got an email back from cycle gadgets. they are donating a gift certificate for the drawing, and i'm working on having them send a rep. over on tuesday and wed. to help people with info on electrical stuff. we will have rides over to thier awesome store. it is a real not to miss experience. you will not believe it when you get there. an awesome ride out in the middle of the woods and the nicest folks you will ever meet. bill
  3. It was a beautiful last week on the parkway.I saw a White Venture and a white RSTD in Va.near Fancy Gap. What really shocked we were the amount of BMWs on the parkway last week.I usually see an inordinate amount of Goldwings and Ultra classic but it seemed every other bike was a BMW last week. Was there a rally or is everyone trading in their rides on a BMW?
  4. OK everyone the International Rally 2009 is getting even closer now. And some maybe wondering what to expect as for Rides & Route's. Some of the Route's have been posted in the "Rides & Rallies" section for the International Rally. After you see some of these Route's you will see why motorcycle Rider's keep coming back year after year. And one of the reasons why AR. was picked for the International Rally this time around. ColesGrandpa will have more info. & maps for every one to see and check out at the Rally. And for the Knowledge of this area I would have to say Colesgrandpa is one of the best around. Everyone ride safe and we the Committee of the International Rally 2009 look forward to seeing each & everyone of you. God Bless
  5. My wife heard such a clatter she threw open the window to what was the matter and then ran to get her camera to photograph what she saw http://elisabethviola.blogspot.com/2009/07/santa-rides-crotch-rocket.html
  6. I bought my '02 Midnight Venture over the winter and have been fortunate enough to put almost 2500 miles on it this season. The only problem is that the bike came with a set of aftermarket (not sure what yet until I pull them off) mufflers that are way too loud for wife and me on longer rides. I am looking for a set of OEM take offs that someone would like to part with at a reasonable price. I plan to do steps 1 and 2 of the stock modification to get a little better sound out of them. I tried posting to the "wanted " forum but it didn't work out. Please PM me if you can help.
  7. maybe some one help me . i have a nolan helmet which is no. n40 i losted the screw on the side which holds face sheild on. i check nolan' web sites and don;t have parts for that old. i guess. good helmet yet though my grand daughter uses it when she rides with me. i will pay for the part and shipping . if some one has it . thank you. nickle
  8. Lady Godiva still rides! Only in today's modern world she rides an Iron Steed piloted by her knight in shining armor. Guess who.......
  9. Not to insult anyone here, I know there are some harley owners that are hog members that are members here too. Has anyone had trouble with Hog members, I have a few friends that are Hog members, but most seem to treat anybody that rides anything other than a harley like dirt. Or is it just me. Gregg
  10. Can somone tell me if there is a place for local riders in your area to post upcoming events, rides etc? We are heading to Naples, FL for Memorial Day weekend, and wanted to post somthing maybe we could meet up with some local riders in the area over the weekend Is there a place to post upcoming rides etc on here ?
  11. well i mapped out the rides for the st. charles meet in may and they are going to be awesome. i road the friday ride to hannibal last saturday, it is 238 mile and covers some beautiful country in illinois and missouri. the friday ride to herman mo. will pass many historic sights and more beautiful country and lots of twisties. it will be 147 miles. i garantee these will be really nice rides. i want to really do it up right this year cuz it will probably be my last meet here. so i hope to see lots of people. this will be a meet to remember. sure wish i could get lewis, eck, and some of the georgia people up here to repay them for their great hospitality.
  12. I have been looking around for a Pillow top seat for my 2005 RSV. I have the corbin seat that was on my bike when I got it but since my hip replacement it just isn't comfortable for long rides anymore. If anyone one has one and would like to sell it please drop me a line. Thanks Steve
  13. This weekend was two years since my son, wife and I took the motorcycle safety coarse and getting hooked on riding. We all started right away after buying a virago 250 to gain practice. Then I moved up to a vstar 1100 custom and my son an R6. The wife stayed with the 250 till this last xmas when I found a good deal on my 05 RSV. She now rides the 1100 or rides two up. I met up with her today at her job and we rode home, beautiful day here in Texas. I have enjoyed joining this group after I got the Venture and have learned a great deal from everyone. Looking forward to many more years of VENTURERIDERS events. Just wanted to say that learning to ride and buying my Venture and has been the best. See you down the rode. THANKS
  14. Sometime in June I am planning 7 or 8 days in Eastern Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. Can anyone give me some advice on "must see's" and your idea's of the best rides. I plan to ride some of the Blue Ride Parkway, but I don't really care to stay on it too much. Is there a section that is a favorite ride. Thank's for your input. Jeff
  15. I have a 2004 RSV Midnight and am replacing the rear tire soon. What is the best tire I can buy for this bike? My wife of 42 years rides with me and I want the best tire available.

    Florida

Howdy - a buddy and I got fed up with the cold and decided to head off to Florida on Feb 22, and just got back this morning. By the way, we WILL take the credit for bringing the warmer weather up north with us! It was a great couple of weeks of riding, friendship, more riding, some drinking, some eating, and lots and lots of pictures. We were joined by our lovely wives for 3 days and they brought with them some great weather last Friday and Saturday. We sent them home on a plane on Sunday and then headed to Daytona Bike Week on the Monday. Got the HOG pin, went to the Iron Horse Salloon and to Destination Daytona. At the HD exhibit at Daytona, I tried the Reach seat on the 09 frame, and it has just jumped to the top of my wish list - sure helps short sh$ts like me to flat foot the bike! Managed to hook up with some other guys down there called "The Geezers" for lunch rides on both of the Tuesdays that we were down there. The rides start out at Lakeland HD and the young ladies bring out freshly baked cookies for the riders to enjoy before the rides - now THAT is service!!! The entire "roll of film" can be found at http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b320/BluesLover55/2009%20Trips/Florida%20with%20Vaughn/ For those that aren't familiar with Vicki, her nickname is "Shutterbug", so there are quite a few pictures from where she and by buddy's wife Terri joined us. The new bike handled very well - it now has over 6,400 kms on it since last Oct 31 and all but 100 or so kms of it have been done in Florida, so I'm thinking it's starting to talk to me in "american". It was great to have Vicki try the bike before the riding season officially opens. She had not been on the back of a bike since we had the accident on the Venture in early October, so I was a bit tentative as to what her reaction was going to be. From some of the pictures of her smiling on the back of the Ultra, you can see that she enjoyed getting back on. We managed to stop at several HD shops, and some are absolutely huge! We met members from HOG and other riding groups from lots of places far and near - riders from Germany and Denmark, France and England. We experienced all kinds of weather down there - a couple of beautiful days in teh low 80s while the ladies were with us, and nights that just barely stayed above the freezing mark. Last Sunday we started with heavy rain, high winds, and dropping temps. We waited til the rains passed and then followed the storm all the way from St Pete's (Treasure Island) to Orlando to drop the girls off at the airport. Cheers,
  17. Planning a trip to the Dragon any recomendations on towns with decent nightlife/hotels/restaurants. Plus any scenic rides in the area. Any help appreciated.
  18. this is not an update on the rally, but i just wanted to relate to alot of the new members what it's all about. it is the main event every year for the venture riders. this year it will be at the hub motorcycle resort in ar., 9 miles south of harrison ar. all members are invited and it is your chance to really get involved and meet lots of fine people and make many new friends. it will be a chance to let your hair down and relax and get away from all your problems for a couple of days. we are going to have rides , vendors, activities for the kids, lots of food, games, sight seeing in some of the best touring areas in the usa, bar none. and more things we haven't thought of yet. if any one has any questions ,you can pm me, and check out all the info under rides and rallies. bill
  19. i ride every saturday and sunday morning during riding season with a couple of local members. i would like to get a big group of members together for the riding season who would like to get together and do early morning rides on the weekends in my area. kind of like a local chapter of venturerrider.org. this inludes all you lurkers that are still on the fence. the rides will start very early in the morning like a meeting time of 6am on sat. and sun. and would be from 100 to 200 miles. depending on what every one agrees on. i live in the st. charles area next to st. louis. if anyone is interested pm me with all your stats like where you are and i will put you on my list. i am dead serious about this cuz i almost live on my bike. so come out of your closet and join us. bill :clap2: ps. speaking of lurkers on the fence, dive in and join the fun. you won't regret it.
  20. It has been a while since I have asked this Question. Has anybody come up with an Idea or do they make any kind of extension for the passenger for 99+RSV yet ? That is her only complaint on longer rides. I saw these today but don't think they will work http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/18/scID/122/IMID/1009 Just wondering. Thanks, Jeff
  21. Hey all just installed my Genesis LED Brakelight/taillight, WOW what a difference!! It sure is ashame yamaha can't make this part of their standard equipment package. Anyway talk about being noticed! This thing is BRIGHT!! Recommend to anyone who rides. Got it at Custom Dynamics and they were super to work with ! Have a GREAT DAY!! Be Safe!! Brian D.
  22. Anyone make your own flag pole holder for the trunk rack? This would be for the small flags like around 6" x 10". Share your ideas. I am looking at them, but I am a cheapskate and don't like to spend the $$ for the ones out on the market. Also there is at least one that I know of (maybe Kuryakyn) that a friend of mine has. Everytime he rides it doesn't stay in place
  23. I live in one of the best spots in the country for rides - Pacific NW - Have 3 scoots and my only dilemma is which one comes out of its stall today. During the week when traffics down and the roads are dry the 86' Eliminator ZL900 comes out alot and it's to the mountain roads for some sssspppppeeedd handling rides. Day trip to Seattle - 2 hour drive - or to the ocean beaches 1 hour ride with no rider many times it's the 82' Maxim XJ110J - more room to carry stuff and lots of POWER to keep up / set the pace with buds on crotch rockets. When it's Momma and mwah out rolls the 83' VR for comfort, speed and handling for two up, especially on longer hauls - like those improv trips to BEST rib joint in the NW in Spokane, WA - 10 hour round trip. Come on out for a ride and a BBQ anytime. Bull
  24. Check this Video out!! Ian [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJPTSaARlvs]YouTube - Hubless Chopper, (The Hubless Monster) A Wicked Bike Without Rims that Rides!![/ame]
