  1. Who has installed a Sat radio on their bike? What type did you get? What mounting system? Did you get the type that transmits to the radio, use the accessory plug or hard wire it? Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks.-Jack
  2. I need a radio control for my 1999 Venture. Does anyone know where a used one can be bought? Or someone with a wrecked Venture that is parting it out? Thanks
  3. http://www.corbin.com/yamaha/ylnrtrunk.shtml The NEW Venture maybe??? Found this out on Corbin's web site. Add a radio and cruise and I'd be trading!
  4. OK I going to install a 86 OEM Yamaha CB system in my 83 Standard. I installed the AM/FM system last year so that part is done. I bought a CB & Radio package deal at a garage sale last weekend. Came with CB - Antenna splitter - cables - noise filter -AM/FM Cassette radio unit - Amp unit - driver head set JM -driver&passenger CB remotes - radio remote - two speakers . Items missing so far that I know of is CB holding tray CB antenna I did some reading on the forum so that should help me some on hot wiring the CB. I have a few Q?s #1 driver intercom lead cable has a pigtail (3 wire) about midway down the cable what does it plug into? #2 Driver & Passenger CB remotes do they plug into the wiring harness?if so does anybody have a way for me to hook these up for a standard system?Might be better off for me to buy a wiring harness from a 83 royal? #3 5 pin cable from CB to amp system will I be able to hear the CB in my headset or speakers or both? #4 Will I be able to talk on the CB with my head set if so what do I key to make CB work?do not know if I have the complete system or not? Sorry for the Q's and being a pain, but I'm wanting to hook up the CB system for next years Eureka Springs meet. I like to know what I'm getting into before I start tearing the bike apart and know some on how this CB unit works. Thanks for all replys buddy Buddy
  5. Stardbogs post about "how many of us it takes to change a light bulb" made me laugh but it also brought up another thought.. Do any of you remember the days gone by of CB Clubs and were any of you involved in one?? If memories serves me correct the vintage would have been 70ish.. I was involved in a club in the day.. I had a 23 channel radio in my car with a powermike, had a "Starduster" antenna for the house and I would bring the car radio inside at night and run it off a car battery.. My handle was "Seadog" and my call numbers were KJP9511 - good Lord that was 30 years ago and I still remember those numbers.. Yep,, "this is old Seadog at the corner of walk and dont walk in the big town of banana land,, KJP9511 takin a pause for the cause"... I used to sit up all night yacking away on that babie.. I will NEVER forget the night the wires going from the battery to the radio crossed and grounded out - the house was INSTANTLY filled with burned wire insulation smoke.. My mom woke up and started coughing asking me what was going on... Just crazyyyy.. Later I ran boots and was able to talk skip with people from all over the world.. \ Sound familiar???? It is totally amazing how even though technology has taken us so far it has acutally taken us in a circle hahahahah 'Puc
  6. There is a huge archive of the stebel air horn but i did not see anyone having a problem i have encountered with feedback through my radio> when the radio is on (or the cb) and the button is pressed there is a loud feed back through the speakers. So much so im afraid of blowing the speakers not to mention my ears if i have HS slected. I installed it according to the instructions that came with larrys bracket. The only difference is i put in a seperate acc relay first which will also control my future heated grips and driving lights so everything goes off with the key. This first relay is fired by the acc pigtail located under the seat. Perhaps I should have fired it from a tail light wire or something? I have heard no one else with this problem? You guys always have suggestions. thanks Jack in los osos ca:confused24:
  7. My radio has been intermitantly broadcasting FM when it is supposed to be AM. I was listening to AM the other day on 1230AM and all of the sudden it was broadcasting 103.5 FM. I tuned to the normal FM and when I switched back to AM it was working right again. This has happened a couple of times now. Anybody have this happen before?
  8. Looking at getting a 1st gen venture. any advise ? wife wants something comfortable and would like floor boards and a radio..
  9. My Radio quit working this morning. Can anyone tell me what things I should check before taking it to the dealer? Thanks, Mark
  10. Has anyone successlfully put in an aftermarket stereo and figure out how to keep the standard CB radio working?
  11. There must be a few electronics wizards out there. I have a IMC Motorcom 100 intercom on my Venture. This unit works fine in intercom mode but can also handle Ipods, cel phones, VFR and CB radios. I have added a Cobra mobile radio. The unit is mounted into the space where the tape deck normally goes. There is a remote handlebar PTT button. The problem is that the intercom unit has a three contact 3.5 mm stereo plug that serves as both the mike and speaker connectors. The CB radio has an external speaker mike and a standard four pin microphone jack consisting of TX,RX, Audio and Shield. I can get speaker sound to the intercom using one contact to the TX pin. No combination of pin-outs seems to make the transmit work through the helmet mike. I trust there is a simple answer. Can you please indicate how this unit should be wired? Thank you
  12. Hello all, I am trying to locate the schematics and wiring diagrams for the radio and the CB on my 99 RSV but I am ending nowhere. The sticker on the radio says: ------------------------------ YAMAHA Model ER-1129V 4XY-88132-00 Clarion P\N 286-9182-00 ------------------------------- CB: I didn't remove the trunk to see if there a label on the CB unit but I am sure there is one , is there someone who has the info?????? ( Yamaha model, Clarion model, P\N's etc.. ) Your help in locating the wiring diagrams will be greatly appreciated, I am having a CB transmit problem and I don't seems to be able to fix it with the recommended procedures. (cable connections=ok, mic direction=ok, antenna=ok ) Note that the intercom portion works great so I know both mics and both switches are working fine. The problem with the CB is that the audio portion of the transmit signal is very weak (modulation), other people can hardly hear me but I can hear them clearly. Help! Thanks, Hermann
  13. Any suggestions on how and where to install a sirius radio on my 2007 Venture.Thanks.
  14. are there any ham radio operators in here (gotta be...). I am wondering what sort of 2m radios people have installed on a venture and if you cna make them work with the Yamaha headset? VE6HBY
  15. Getting horrible noise through the radio in AM only. FM works fine. When engine isn't running I can't tune in anything clearly, even local station in town is fuzzy but soon as motor's running it's pure noise. Wondering as I start tearing into this problem if anyone has suggestions to check for first? can the noise filter be the problem or plugs? Major issue for me as I listen to AM radio always.
  16. I have a '99 RSV and have had no problems with it for the 3 months that I have owned it. However, recently when I am out riding and am running the bike under load (climbing a hill or accelerating from a dead stop) the speakers cut out. It only does this under load. I thought it might be the MP3 jack because that is what I am usually listening to but it does it whether I am listening to the radio or a CD as well. I am leaving this Sunday on a trip and would like it fixed before then. As far as I know there have not been any aftermarket mods done to the stereo. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
  17. ...a whole different setup that hooks into the helmets headsets on a 1st Gen? Something like J & M's bar mounted CB, XM Radio & GPS and connect an iPod that pipes through the helmets headsets and still utilizes the external speakers? And, are able to talk on their Cell Phone? What have you done? What do you recommend? How has it worked out? Do you have any pics? Wife was considering getting me XM, I want a CB and I want a set of headsets for a pair of Full Face helmets. GPS is optional at this point in time as I can't really get away and use i until the kids get a little older.

    Radios and XM

I've had my 84 VR for a week now. The day of the purchase required a 400 or so mile ride to get it back to Sheridan from Cheyenne (and wouldn't you know, the day after I get it home, another VR comes up for sale in Billings, less than 2 hours away). So far, the CLASS is working fine, the Venture Cruise works, with a 5 MPH drift at times, and this one already has 2nd popping out so I know tranny work is in store for the winter. And the radio works, when it wants to. At the dealership, the salesman was very open about what he knew of the bike, and showed me that the cassette was a dead horse by plugging a tape into it. But as he did, the radio went dead too. The amplifier was still live as we could hear the speakers softly pop whenever we tried to turn the radio on. But no display and no sound. So I rode it home anyway. Near Buffalo, I fiddled with the power/volume switch a couple of times and the radio came back on. And since then, it has dropped off by itself during a ride, but fiddling with the switch got it back. The cassette is a lost cause, I'm convinced. I'm going to add XM and I saw the link to the site for mounting kits (although they seem aimed more at Sirius), but I'd like to hear from anyone who has already added XM.
  20. HELP,!!! I just got my radio back from my Dads house {he was repairing the mount plate cracked where the lower bar goes accross} and plugged it into the dash and it lights up goes to correct stations but very little sound comes out of the speakers! have to have it up full blast to hear anything out of the speakers. Leaving for SD,BLack hills ride this friday at 1pm. any Ideas on tunes?
  21. Hey, I am trying to switch out the existing stock radio with a new radio and was wondering if someone could tell me what the 8 wires on the harness that hooks upto the amp is for. I have indentified the 4 for the speakers but the 4 I am not clear on are the red, red with black stripe, orange, and yellow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. Coming home from work yesterday my radio cutoff and then came back on, it did this 4 or 5 times till it cutoff completely. When I parked the lights where very dim and the radio was still off. I cut it off and tried to crank it, the battery was dead. I had the battery checked out and it was ok. Last week I road in a lot of rain, could there be something shorting out?
  23. I was hoping to get a confirmation here before I go buy something I don't need. When I bought my used '89 VR the radio station was stuck on 101.8. None of the controls (on top , rider thumb, or passenger) would control the station. I got a radio and plastic parts off ebay, then replaced all the parts and found the radio still stuck on the same station?????? SO.... after some looking around I have come to suspect that the Radio tuner and CB tuner are actually in the Amp and the panels on the faring are just input controllers like a keyboard. Anyone out there have any ideas on this? The COM system and CB work fine and the tape player (mostly) works, it takes a few times to get the tape to start and then to auto flip to the other side but it works. I am hoping that a replacement AMP will fix things up.
  24. Has anyone found a good bike to bike radio system to use while riding with other bikes. Just did a 5 day trip all over the smokies and N.Ga mts and realized a good radio system would have been nice to communicate while riding at times. Would appreciate any input on this. 25. Having an imported RSV 1300 in the UK is there any way to alter the frequency count on the radio controller to even and odd frequencies? My local radio station along with many others uses an even number. ie 107.2 and 102.2. Any ideas? Old Miner. (Having a 'senior moment'). Sorry for putting it in the wrong place, first time I have used the forum. DOH!!!!
