Well, I'm waiting on another valve cover gasket for the '89, so it won't be here til later in the week. Yesterday was such a pretty day, 70s and sunny. Didn't want to waste it sitting inside, so...

Well, we made it home from Oklahoma with the RSV. Trip was 680 miles. I rode the first 20 miles to where the trailer was, and as soon as we got there, it started raining, and a pretty good fog set in. Good thing I had reserved the trailer just in case. As soon as we got into clear weather, I had to pull in and get that road grime off the bike real quick. It was looking pretty nasty. Will spend a few hours tomorrow cleaning it back up. Glad to have it home.

Well, as it seems to happen, 16 year old's get bored in the winter, and we need things to do. My project this weekend is mounting an old snowblower motor on a bicicle. The snowblower has a seperate disingage, so where the front brakes would normally be, I'm going to mount the engage to it. It will only go with the "clutch" pulled in. It has a pretty high idle, which is no big deal, and the throttle will really open it up. If i have to, i can do some cutting and welding and get the belt drive into more of a chain sproket. It will be cool to see how fast it will go with the 15 gears, so we'll see.

They're not cheap, but they are killer quality. The flames on my 97 RS are painted in Prizmacoat, and change from Green-Blue-Purple. The paints are pretty forgiving too, 'cause I'm no artist, and it came out purdy! Check 'em out! http://www.alsacorp.com/paints.htm

Since I am getting my new scoot next week, I am tossing around the idea of letting the 1st Gen go. A friend made me a REALLY good deal when I bought the 1st Gen, and I would like to pay it forward to someone who doesn't have much money to buy one, or has lost their scoot because of hard times. The scoot doesn't look quite as good as it does in my profile pic, but those here who have seen it can attest to the fact that it is still a pretty good looking scoot. I can supply recent pics upon request. Here are the details: '83 standard am/fm/cd player with upgraded speakers Luggage rack Trailer hitch Passenger floorboards Dunlop Elite 3s with 6k on them(LOTS of tread left) Replaced all of the brakes last spring when I got the tires. Battery is about 3 weeks old, with one year replacement warranty. Overall good condition, and I can get on it and ride it anywhere...if it would just warm up, lol. The bad: needs 2nd gear fix. Never bothered me much. I just usually skip 2nd. Fork seals leak. Could use fork rebuild and progressive springs. The scoot runs really well, and although not great, is in pretty good shape. I ride it to work(80 miles round trip) whenever the weather lets me. Last time was 2 weeks ago. I am willing to let it go for $1000. Does that sound like a fair price? I don't need it anymore, and I thought maybe I could help someone else out, rather than let it sit. If interested, let me know.

Haven't riden in quite a while, but the Nolan on the shelf was looking pretty ugly with bug juice remains and dust all over it. So not having anything fun to do for the time being I got out the can of Pledge and gave it the once over. Cleaned up well. Then I looked at the liner. Whew!!!!! Not a pretty sight. Lots of DNA laying everywhere. I'd never done it before but Nolan says the liner is removable for washing... so I did eventually get it out of the shell. Tossed it in the washer on gentle with a couple of towels. Came back a couple of hours later and dug the liner out. I wasn't going to toss it in the dryer... I ain't that dumb.... so shaped it close to what it originally looked like and set it aside to air dry. Some of the thin foam parts were chewed up on the edges, but not bad, so next time it's going to be a hand wash job. The labels were no longer black and unreadable, and it cleaned up pretty well. The hardest part was getting the liner back into the shell, but eventually I got it figured out. Next time I'll take a pic... Put the helmet back on the shelf, and lookin' good!!

Webbikeworld just did a review on the Garmin 660. Though I like the widescreen, I would not consider this an upgrade from my Zumo 550 simply because it does not have the XM radio capability. I'll just stick with what I have thank you very much. For those who don't care about the XM though, it seems to be a pretty good unit. http://www.webbikeworld.com/garmin-gps/garmin-zumo-660-review/

I went and did it. Jeff took me to the Ford dealer and I got a 2010 Ranger Sport 4 WD. It's a pretty blue. I know you guys don't care about the pretty color the ladies will though. So now I'm in debt. Not too bad though I got a 36 month 0% interest loan. I'll post pics tomorrow in the daylight. Jeff tried to take pics tonight but it's too dark out. Jeff said I'm like Black Owl now I have a venture ranger. Margaret

An amazing ride report from a 19yo kid who crossed the country on a 76 CB550 Cafe. It takes a while, but it pretty much sums up what the root of riding a motorcycle is all about. [ame=http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296]http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296[/ame]

We were blessed to have our daughter and new granddaughter, Hayden, home for Thanksgiving. We got to take Hayden for her first ride Saturday! As we rode around the neighborhood and she was a little apprehensive at first but warmed up pretty quickly and enjoyed the ride. It looks like we have another biker in training...

As most of you know, I have been Laid Off from Lockheed/Martin for the last 11 plus months and I have been working on bikes to keep my head above water. Well, I took my first big gulp of H2O this afternoon when I watched my 86'VR go home with it's new owner and my pride and joy, my 86' V65 Magna being trailered off. What with regular bills, Taxes, and now heating oil, i sorta' got backed into a corner. I am pretty much blowing out prices on items I have from my shop that I kept in stock to service the many members that have come to "My little shop by the creek" I have First and Second Gen. R1 Caliper Swap kits in the classifieds as well as First Gen. Stock calipers for sale. All have been rebuilt and can be shipped with or without pads. It looks like it is going to be a long winter here in Pa. and if any of my ads interest you, please let me know. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2445/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2446/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2443/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2330/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2333/cat/500 To all of the VR.ORG members that have given me the privilege to work on your bikes I am grateful, as is my family. Without knowing it, you have fed my family and kept the lights on! I have attached a pic of each of the two bikes that are now gone. My Stable is looking pretty "thin" these days. Thanks for all that you have done, Earl

I got to meet J.E.S. today. Sure is pretty. Anybody know???

Yesterday while running errands I made a right 90-degree turn onto another road about 15 mph or so. My right foot board scraped pretty loud which I've never done before on the RSV. I've scraped pegs on other bikes but never on this one. I knew I was leaning pretty good but man. What scared me so much was my big foot, size 14 X wide was hanging off a little and the boot starting scraping with the board.

I just got an e-mail from Motorcycle.com with this report... No mention of the Venture or RS line at all but the new Stratoliner Deluxe looks pretty cool... Looks like they ripped off the Corbin fairing but the bags don't look as good as Corbin's...

I am looking to install a LED integraded license plate frame and a brake light flasher. Both are from Signal Dynamics. The installation looks pretty straight forward. Any "watch outs" before I do?

Just put a wanted out there. Purchased passing lamp visor's from one of our members here. Looking to buy the headlight visor if anyone would like to get rid of one! I know they are pretty cheap on the internet, but would rather buy from a member here. Thanks Deb

Some of you probably have seen this, but it was new to me. Check out the V-Max trike, seems like an odd combination but still looks pretty cool:cool10: http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/11/20/tilting-v-max-trike-by-tilting-motor-works/

I really thought that our part of Washington state was pretty good about motorcycles and their drivers. But here is a story where someone riding a bicycle decided to throw his bike into the path of a guy (semi-famous actor) riding a motorcycle. I guess the gene pool is sometimes pretty shallow. http://www.kirotv.com/news/20089924/detail.html

Guy at work just bought a new 2009 Harley Davidson Softail Custom. Was checking it out and it is an ok bike, seems kinda small and plain, but he really likes it so that is cool. Asked him if the dealer was hard to deal with on price and he told be that he got $1500 off of sticker, and I thought that was pretty good...until he told me he paid $19k OTD for it. I was in shock. $19k and it is bone stock, no shield, no bags nothing. Ouch. To each their own.
