  1. Sells the cable used on the Garmin to make the blue tooth phone work through my headsets?
  2. sunday lost phone service, called at&t,phone off the hook, checked all my lines, nothing wrong, call at&t,they will send a tech out wed,wed came and went, called at&t again, was told had a group re pair, going on,didn't tell me about this mon, just that ihad a phone off the hook, wouldn't tell me when the repair was expected to be complete, guess when you live off of the betten path, and don't use them for anything except a line,if it wasn't for this laptop,i wouldn't need a land line to big to fail lowell
  3. Well I finally got enough junk cleared out of the way that I could actually get to the bike and get her outside for a spring oil change and wash today. Then I hooked up the BuddyRich cable with the Zumo550 and synched it with my cell phone. It worked like a charm. I can now use the cell phone and hear it through the helmet speakers and use the mic to talk on the phone. It's not that I anticipate using the cell phone much while on the bike but it's handy when you do need it, and with both my parents and the in-laws getting older and ill, it's nice that if something happens, they can reach me if I'm out for a day trip on the bike:dancefool::thumbsup2:. My hats off to BuddyRich for a great job!
  4. Yes, I said ‘distraction’. First of all let me say that I use my scoot for more then just unwinding on pleasurable scenic rides along quiet country back roads... it’s also transportation. As a result I often find myself rolling across the big slab to get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ and like you have seen my share of “S##T” (careless driving). I don’t have to tell you folks about the attentiveness required for riding motorcycle but the fact of the matter is that the same attentiveness is required no matter what you’re driving! The difference is that if something goes wrong we are the one’s who will get hurt regardless of fault. Riding motorcycle commands your attention. On the other hand a car will conveniently allow the opportunity to read a map, fix your hair, talk or text on the phone, eat your breakfast, tend to the kids... all while boot’n down the highway at breakneck speeds, need I go on! The two don’t mix and that’s why it’s nice to have a Weapon for ‘Mass Distraction’ It’s nice to know that we have some options for those times when defensive driving just isn’t enough... gosh I love my air horn! I have the ‘Bad Boys’ mounted under the fairing and my only regret is that I didn’t install them sooner. My thanks to the people who make this product, it has helped me more then once! Having said that... I must apologize to the gentleman who undoubtedly soiled his pants after he wandered into my lane while chatting on the phone. Judging by his reaction he must have thought a freight train was coming, he pulled back so quickly that he overshot his lane on the other side before finding center of his own. Yes I’m sorry alright, sorry that he bothered to go out for a drive and leave his senses parked at home! Did I mention that I love my air horn! ... Now if we could only come up with something for the tailgaters!!!
  5. Karen's daughter's car was stolen early this am. It was reported to the police within 1/2 hour. In it was purse with house keys and everything else, including cell phone. Question #1 - since phone was on, can it be tracked from tower to tower?? Question #2 - we are making a list of things in there that need to be followed up on. What are we missing?? The list so far... phone credit/gas/debit cards social security card day care swipe card for child drop off and pick up health insurance cards change locks on apartment Driver License Inform anyone one of her Contacts on cell phone to protect against scam calls. Thanks in advance for any and all help in this matter, Scooter Bob and Karen
  6. Just got off the phone with Gary. He survived the surgery and except for the fact that the hospital is trying to starve him, he is doing well. He expects to be released tomorrow or possibly Friday. If anyone would like to give him a call, he has a phone in his room. Forgot to get his room number, but the number for the hospital switchboard is 1.218 732.3311. Ops, his last name is Kloehn.... Sorry bout that.
  7. Has anyone else heard of this? THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen . Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I have something important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809 We didn't respond. Then this week, we received the following e-mail: Do Not DIAL AREA CODE 809, 284, AND 876 THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809 This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call. Be sure you read this and pass it on. They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc. In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away.. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls. If you call from the U.S. , you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute. Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. WHY IT WORKS: The 809 area=2 0code is located in the Dominican Republic . The charges afterward can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong. Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam. 8. Hey is there anything out there that i can answer calls, I hadn't seen anything but worth asking. Thanks
  9. you can always rely on the wonderful assistance of Forum members! I was recently in FL for an extended stay and needed some help. All three people that I contacted immediately took care of, and took charge of, the situation at hand. AtlantaDragonSlayer: I called Bob in need of a part and right away he went to the time, trouble, and expense to overnight it to me in Tallahassee FL so I could get the bike back on the road and get to my intended destination, which was critical, given the difficult circumstances I was headed for. He also did everything possible to pick up the slack for the January North GA M&E since I wasn't going to be able to make it back in time. Muffinman: Jeff is always ready to provide his expert mechanical assistance, whether by phone or in person. This time it was by phone, and he walked me through a problem, the solution to which also contributed greatly to getting me back on the road. SteveW: Steve really stepped-up and took on the task of cleaning out his shop and getting everything ready (food included!) so we could hold a Maintenance Day at his place. When I called Steve from FL and told him I wouldn't get home in time he was both understanding and supportive and told me not to think twice about it. My sincere Thanks! to each of you for helping out so graciously at a difficult time... Terry
  10. Be carefull if you are an alltel customer. they just sold out to verizon and soon a lot of their phones will be obsolete. So if you are looking for a new phone ask first. David
  11. This morning on the Highway , I looked over to my left and there was a Woman In a brand new Cadillac Doing 90 km-per hour With her Face up next t o her Rear view mirror Putting on her eyeliner. I looked away For a couple seconds, and when I looked back she was Halfway over in my lane, Still working on that makeup. As a man, I don't scare easily. But she scared me so much; I dropped My electric shaver , Which knocked The donut Out of my other hand. In all The confusion of trying To straighten out the car Using my knees against The steering wheel, It knocked My cell phone Away from my ear Which fell Into the coffee Between my legs, Splashed, And burned Big Jim and the Twins, Ruined the darn phone, Soaked my trousers, And disconnected an Important call. Stupid women drivers
  12. Well I don’t know if you are suppose to get excited about these things but here goes. My Cell phone died on me so I had to replace it. I looked around and decided that I could use a smartphone because it would replace my Palm Pilot that I’ve used for many years and I’d only be carrying one device instead of two. This is where is gets exciting. I started looking at the iPhone but my carrier isn’t offering that one and I’m windows based. I still have a contract for another year and a bit. HTC has a new phone called the Touch Diamond. AWESOME. It has Windows Mobile 6.1 and Mobile Office. Now I can use Word, Excel and Powerpoint on my Phone. It also has WiFi which means I can check in here from any hotspot without using air time. Facebook and Youtube are very easy as well as e-mail. I can get a data plan so that I could use these anywhere but that gets expensive. Another cool part is what they call an accelerometer which allows the unit to know what position it is in. It will rotate the screen from portrait mode to landscape mode in any screen that I want to do that just by turning the unit. It is so sensitive that there is a game called Teeter which is like the old Labyrinth game (wooden box with two knobs and a maze with a steel ball). Gotta try it to believe it. Man I love technology! Now comes the main reason I’m excited. This thing as a GPS built in. Telus sells their navigation system as so many $ a month which is pretty good and the unit comes with Google Maps which uses data. BUT I got Garmin XT Mobile software which actually turns MY PHONE into a Garmin GPS. I can use MapSource to draw out a route on my PC and then upload it to the phone. I also tried TomTom which works very well but doesn't have the ability to work on the PC and upload to the phone. I liked some the TomTom day to day features but overall the Garmin works better for what I want to do with it. This gets even better. I’ve been using Ms Streets & Trips for years and am very comfortable with it. I just took a route that I used this past summer and transferred it using Babble to the MapSource software (amazingly easy) and then uploaded to my phone. It worked flawlessly. Bottom line. I now have a smartphone, contact manager (Outlook), Internet access, games, mp3 player, mini computer, AND a Garmin GPS in my pocket. WOW!!! Oh and I can even use it as a level. Wayne
  13. A woman has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile > phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her > cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc...was stolen. > > Twenty minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling > him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our > Pin number and I replied a little while ago.' > When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the > money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell > phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin > number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank > account. > Moral of the lesson: do not disclose the relationship between you and > the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, > Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.... and very importantly, when > sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back. > Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them > somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message cam e from > them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to > meet 'family and friends' who text you. > > PLEASE PASS THIS ON. I never thought about THAT! As of right now, I no > longer have 'home' named on my cell phone.
  14. Thank you, to all of you, for all your support and prayer's. It is after our set deadline and I still have not heard from im. I have contact our dispatcher, to see if he could locate him on the qualcom yet, however, no answer. I'm clued to the phone but I also have to bring my load back to Minneapolis. 15. The Oberlin Inn has come thru for us again for Don's maintenance day. They have set aside a block of rooms for us for Friday & Saturday nites. They are giving us a rate of 89.95. Just be sure and tell them that you are with the ventureriders so they can get the rate right. The phone number is 440-775-1111. They are anxiously awaiting our arrival.
  16. Hey folks I don't post often but I lurk almost daily. Having said that I believe you all to be pretty solid well informed people. So here goes it, I believe that my wife is cheating on me! Here's what has led me to think this. Lately she's been going out with the girls after work. When I ask who they are she just says you don't know them there just some girlfriends from work. Also it seems that lately if I answer the phone, the caller hangs up but if she does its a conversation thats private and she just leaves the room. Then I grabbed her cell the other day to check what time it was, You'd have thought I had a bomb in my hands the way she rushed over and grabbed that phone. She said that I didn't need to check the time on the phone I could have just walked into the kitchen to check the wall clock? I noticed that these friends always drop her off a few houses down or around the corner, I asked her why. She said she just wants to get some fresh air. So tonight I'm taking a shower and when I get out there's a note on the counter. It says the gals called and she was just gonna have a couple of drinks that she'd be home in an hour or so. Well I'd had enough, I decided I was gonna get a good look at these friends when they dropped her off! So I roll the venture down to the street so I can hide behind it and get a good look when she get's back. That's when I noticed that one of my plug wires it cracked and looks pretty worn. Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it to the dealer? Thanks in advance I know I can count on you folks when it comes to maintenance. Danimal

  19. Guy was asking $14,000. Said he had low milage, but couldn't tell. It was very nice. Lots of customizing done. If anyone is interested in possibly purchasing, I did get the phone number and would be willing to give to truly interested parties. Was hoping he was a member here so I could ask him where he got some of his nice add-ons.
  20. I'm trying to get the dealership to fix my radio on my 07 RSV. Yamaha says it's a Clairion problem, the dealer can't seem to get a response from Clairion, so I want to call Yamaha Corp. and see if I can get a fire lit under them. Does anyone have the phone number to Yamaha Corp. and maybe a name of someone that I might be able to talk to?
  21. Whats the deal here. Some cell providers charge for incoming calls. This was on a local tv newscast today.Nothing worse then telemarketers. http://www.wchstv.com/i/1x1spacer.gif EYEWITNESS LOCAL NEWS from Eyewitness News Online PESKY PROBLEM Cellphone Numbers Being Released http://www.wchstv.com/i/1x1spacer.gif Reported by: http://www.wchstv.com/bluemail.gif Rachel Tarr Videographer: Eyewitness News Web Producer: Jessica Reed October 1, 2008 1:36pm http://www.wchstv.com/i/1x1spacer.gif http://www.wchstv.com/newsroom/eyewitness/0810/i/081001_3000_320.jpg Eyewitness News Photo http://www.wchstv.com/i/1x1spacer.gif Today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies. If you don't want to get those calls, you can call 1-888-382-1222 from your cell phone to block the calls. You can also log on to donotcall.gov, and add up to three phone numbers you want blocked. Under a new law, these new registries will never expire.
  22. This is a great deal on some auxillary lights. I just ordered a set for an 87 Concours I bought. You have to phone in your order, they are having problems with their web site. http://www.rallylights.com/Optilux/optilux_1500.asp
  23. I just wanted to tell of a great experience here. Many of you know of my engine knocking issue and many of the bigger brains on this site are scratching their heads along with me. This morning I played a long shot and called PCW Racing and asked them the question. For those of you who have done clutches and read my article on this they are the supplier of the upgrade parts I recommend. Well I got John on the phone and was amazed with all the time he was willing to spend with me on the phone and trouble shoot and ask questions. I felt like I was wasting his time but he told me I could have as much as I needed and he really cared! Well I have some great ideas of what to check and what certain things mean. Basically he filled my head with knowledge that only experience brings and now I know what to look for! Thanks John again for you patience and willingness to help! Now the shameless plug. If anyone needs clutch stuff please call them. www.pcwracing.net Also for those who want a little more power they make all kinds fo stuff to get more out of out motors. Im really thinking of doing their 1500 kit on mine if it needs to come apart. He tells me that it will give me about 25% more torque and that is quite a kick in the butt. Check it out!

  25. OK Guys and Gals, I finally bit the dust and found a wireless internet that will work around here. It's the first day, so we will see what happens. Folks didn't like hughes.net around here and we couldn't get dsl even though we are about 2 miles out of town. It is under a half mile from here but we live on a dead end road so who knows when it will come thru. I didn't even know you could get broadband thru a cellular phone service and i've been skeptical, but they say as long as you have cell phone reception here, it will work. Take care and ride safe.
