  1. GEOGRAPHY OF A WOMAN Between 18 and 22, a woman is like Africa - half discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful! Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe - well-developed and open to trade, especially for something of real value. Between 31 and 35, a woman is like Spain - very hot, relaxed, and convinced of her own beauty. Between 36 and 40, a woman is like Greece & gently aging, but still a warm and desirable place to visit. Between 41 and 50, a woman is like Great Britain, with a glorious and all-conquering past... Between 51 and 60, a woman is like Israel - has been through war, doesn't make the same mistakes twice, and takes care of business. Between 61 and 70, a woman is like Canada - cool, self-preserving, but open to meeting new people. After 70, she becomes Tibet - wildly beautiful, with a mysterious past and the wisdom of the ages.... an adventurous spirit and a thirst for spiritual knowledge. . . . . . THE GEOGRAPHY OF A MAN Between 1 and 80, a man is like Iran - ruled by a couple of nuts THE END.
  2. I have just purchased a 99 Royal Star Venture. It is loaded and looks great. Has 43,000 miles and runs smooth at idle. It has a vibration when under load (riding) and goes away when I reduce the throttle. I am coming off a 2002 Road Star from the past 3 years and have only had the new bike out a couple of times and am not used to it. Has anyone had the same issue or can share a similar experiance? srm.
  3. I would like to share some past memories of our motorcycle club "Tulsa Touring Riders" events. The first one is our fall gathering with the "Ark Regional Voyagers" in 2003 http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Ch5gH2jZ Phill
  4. Over the years, I've seen posts from several people who have claimed that the top speed on their RSV is about 90 MPH. I've never understood that and am now wondering how many here have bikes that top out around that speed. What got me thinking about this was that over the past months my bike was not running well. A couple of weeks ago, I opened it up and found that 90 MPH was all it would do. Now I had had mine to close to 120 MPH in the past so obviously something was wrong. Unfortunately, I got frustrated and took somewhat of a "shotgun" approach to the problem and so don't know just exactly what corrected my problem. I changed plugs but had done that before so I know it wasn't the problem. I also changed my number 3 coil which I think was breaking down under load. I pulled the carbs and reset the floats. One was a bit high. I also suspect that the air box was not seated good on top of at least one of the carbs. The bottom line is that when I was done, I took it out again and it runs like I knew it should. Acceleration is very strong and I took it up to about 112 and it was still climbing pretty good. I have the Speedohealer so that is true speed. I was later talking to my friend Bob Dakin and he told me that his Midnight Venture has never run faster than about 90 since the day that he bought it. I am convinced that there is a problem with his and he is going to come over one day soon so that we can figure it out. How many of YOU have the same problem? If your bike tops out under 100 MPH, I am sure that there is a problem and I don't think it would be that difficult to figure it out.
  5. Not enough excerise In 41 years riding a scoot I only drop a scoot 3 times and the past week I have dropped The Fjr twice while not going moving:Laugh: and all on the right side
  6. I have mentioned in the past that my pillion and I lost two of our three Border Collie dogs in the past couple of years. The remaining dog, Cooper, has been a bit lonely of late so I bit the bullet and got him a mate. Meet Chloe. Sorry they're not real good quality shots - done on my phone. First shot is Chloe and the other is Chloe and Cooper in the back of my ute. (That's pick up to you northerners!!) Ain't she sweet?
  7. I thinking, that some pics from the past might be fun Maintenance Day 4.22.06 Check out MD 2010 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50049
  8. ...and ate me a Mustang. I knew it would be easy, lol. We both started off kinda normal from the stop sign and I heard his motor wind up so I had to do the same thing, it was over as soon as it started. I was prolly 4 or 5 bike lengths ahead when I hit second. The kid started to make a u-turn and so did I. I started off up on the back wheel and rolled past him. He followed a bit but would not even up for another run, hahahaha. Wonder if he will do that again with an old bagger.

    CB woes

Is there a fuse for the CB? The reason I ask is because my CB light will not come on. I have had this bike for 3 yrs. and the CB has never worked. In the past the light has always come on but I never could get past the the "CB-err". It never bothered me because I never used it. Now it does bother me. I just did the Marshall Mod and the dang thing will not even come on. I found in the manual there is an "audio" fuse but the radio works so it can't be that fuse. Any ideas?
  10. Went for an awesome ride today (thanks for leading Randya), but in the middle of the ride the spedo started screaming. Then it decided not to come home with me. I suppose that means we've moved past the "lube it and it'll be ok" point. How much is this going to cost me?
  11. Today I've been invited back for a second interview, drug screening and possible job offer for a real job back in my field of expertise, Facility Maintenance Management. I've been out of that field for a while (10 Years) being a self employed sub-contractor and have been actively seeking to get back in the job market for the past two years. I don't mind telling you that it has been rough for me over the past few years like it has been for so many others and many of us. Being at this stage of life with an abundance of experience but no Degree it has been a slow process finding a job in my skill level. Most all jobs even the most basic unskilled entry level jobs require a degree to be considered. Those of you with children emphasis the importance of a college degree. I have been close to my economic collapse lately facing loosing my house and the possibility of being homeless. It has been so disheartening that emotionally and spiritually I have been finding strength in my faith that things would work out in God's time. I can see providence at work since this job would be a perfect fit for my past experience and desire to find a position that would allow me to do meaningful Dragon Slayer work. This facility is an Assisted living facility for medical rehabilitation and hospice patients. This job would mean so much to me that I am asking for all of the prayer and crossed finger action I can get in hopes that your sent hopes and prayers will help make it happen.

  13. I just ordered the Deka EXT20L AGM battery which comes pre-charged. I dont trust pre-charging. What is the proper procedure to "season" this battery. I know it was posted in the past but I cant find it. Thanks, Jeff

  15. I need to pick the brains of the membership here. I am in the process of installing an LED brake/running light on my 84. I have removed the trunck, trunk mounting bracket, and the plastic cover under that. I discovered that some time in the past, someone wired in a trailer conector. The trouble I have is that they used the Scotch lock connectors. What would be a good way to remove these? When I get them removed, would a good spray of contact cleaner and then a covering of liquid tape be appropriate? I have used these connectors in the past, always with less that good results. Thanks to all, Dave

  17. Yea, Im bored.........
  18. Greetings everyone. I am a new member with an embarrassing problem. I just recently acquired a 1996 Tour Classic. As the weather here in British Columbia is a little inclement for riding just yet I am tearing it down and giving it a general once over. My problem is I cannot get the wiring harness connector to the speedometer to come apart. I have tried depressing the tab, prying it but cannot get it to release. I have had problems opening connectors in the past but have always figured them out but this one is making me nuts. If someone could let me in on the trick before I snap and get out the side cutters I would be very grateful. Jim
  19. Yeah its snowing bigtime in Newnan, Ga. right now, calling for 3-5 inches of snow before its all over with...........My grandson cant wait to go out and play in it, that will take a while, ground is saturated with tons of rain over the past couple of days and it will be a few hours before it starts to accumulate....... Good day to stay indoor and be entertained by him.......... The first 3 pics are after about 20 minutes of snow, the rest are after about 45 minutes.
  20. Just kidding! I'm not crackin on Harley. Did any of you catch the program on Speed this past week that showed a Harley concept bike from years past. It was a v4, watercooled and had snorkles that looked alot like what we find now on the Vmax. It was called project Nova. Not bad lookin as a starting point. Per the article, they had plans for a v6 as well. OH well! There's an article on it: http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/04/06/harley-davidson-v4-nova/ Shame they didn't proceed with it. I had no idea they had even toyed with idea of a watercooled v4, but then I never paid much attention to Harleys. Hmmmmm! Surprise, surprise...learn something new every day. I must admit, I am duly impressed.
  21. Always liked the Royales so I drove to Columbus, OH last week and picked this one up. 23. I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone that has put information on this website. Without it, I don't know if I would have been able to get the foks back on my '87 VR. I took it apart about 6-7 weeks ago and dropped the forks off to have new seals installed and put in the new Progressives while it was apart. I can just about fix anything, but when your memory has nothing to recall from past experiences..it makes it kinda hard. With all of the fixes that everyone has done and all of the pictures, I have finally gotten it back together and had my first ride in a very long year. Thanks again for all the help. Kevin
  24. Anybody else getting wet inside their front turn signal/running lamp housings? If so, any good fix? Yesterday a friend pointed out that I had a burnt out bulb. Opened it up to change it and it is all corroded. Screws were rusted, inner receptacle was rusted. Never noticed it upon inspection in the past, but it was rusted enough to have been happening for a while. The rubber gasket appeared in tact. Think this is covered under the 5 year? Thanks in advance, TTW
  25. This one is really rampant right now. I've personally received the email almost every day for the past week. If you receive it, do NOT click on any of the links to open them. http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/fbi-facebook.asp
