  1. Canadian Tire has their Motomaster Motorcycle and ATV jack (1500lb capacity) on sale for $70 but Costco has a Powerbuilt Triple Lift (4500lb) for $100. Any recommendations? This is for a 2nd Gen RSV. Canadian Tire/Motomaster : http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoTools/CreepersJacksStands/PRD~0091015P/Motorcycle%252BJack.jsp?locale=en lift - 4-5/8" to 14-1/2" Costco/Powerbuilt : lift range - 5 1/2" to 17 1/2" locking safety bar http://www.alltradetools.com/index.php/introducing-the-only-floor-jack-that-can-lift-a-car-truck-motorcycle-or-atv-the-new-powerbuilt-triple-lift-jack/ (this is the 4000lb version) Recommendations ?
  2. Thanks in advance. Is it hard to change brake pads on a 07 RSV? I have a lift and tools. I've done car brakes before but never a bike.
  3. OK, so I just got the bike and I'm sure this has been covered in this forum somewhere, but........... was in a parking lot the other day, sitting on the RSV, pushing it out of a space, turning the bike a little, when............. the ground under me sloped off a little. Long story short, it went down........... I stepped off, a little shook, faced the bike (the wrong way I know) and tried to lift it. No FRICKEN WAY was it going to move. A guy ran over and together we lifted it. So I rode away embarrassed. Today, I get my neighbor to come over and we gently lay it down on the kickstand side onto a piece of cardboard. So I back up to it, grab the lower half of the handlebar and the seat and push with my legs. Now, I'm not a little guy, as a matter of fact I'm stronger than the average. I could not budge the thing!!! He had to help me get it back on the kick stand. THIS IS SCARRY! How do you lift it? Do I need to carry a bottle jack? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I have a HF ATV jack (el-cheapo) and a carbone-one lift adapter. I'm "planning" on taking off the rear wheel this weekend to clean/lube the splines, etc. Couple of questions: 1) Will the HF jack lift the bike high-enough to allow me to remove the rear wheel? 2) Will the removal of the rear-wheel affect the counter-balance of the bike on the carbone-one lift adapter? 3) How "unstable" will the bike be on the lift-adapter with the rear wheel removed? I'm attempting to eliminate any CATASTROPHIC surprises during this maintenace event! Thanks!
  5. Does the Carbon One work on this year. I looked at a pic of one. I think my bike is different it has the mono shock which I think gets in the way. Any help here? Has someone came across this before. there seems no sold place to put the lift. Thanks, Kregg
  6. We have a 2005 Midnight Venture just purchased and am wondering how you folks lift the bike for routine service without a factory center stand? This is our first motorcycle in 19 years and all prior had factory center stands. I have a hydraulic lift table but would like to have a way to have both tires free of the ground. Thanks, Rob
  7. OK...I got my shortened kickstand back from JerryW (excellent job by the way) and now I am ready to put it on the bike... I have done a search and actually was surprised to see nothing in the Venture Libraries about removing the side stand. What is the easiest procedure to do this...can I do it while someone HOLDS the bike up (since I don't have a bike lift)...and how hard is it to replace the spring back on? Any help (pics would be nice) would be greatly appreciated...especially if in a step by step procedure. Thanks. Wally
  8. i have a motorcycle lift from craftsman, besides buying an adapter is there a easy way to lift bike safely?
  9. Here is a link to $120 off coupon on a MC lift good till 3/24. Scroll down and you can print it out. http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/common/displayPage.do?pageFile=magurl4.html
  10. Did someone here contact Pitbull Motorcycle Lifts today, inquiring about a lift? I was up there buying some leather, and someone called about one for a 2003 Venture. I told Tony that my new Venture was a 2003, but it wouldn't be back here until Saturday. He wanted to take some measurements so that he could make the right adapter for their lifts. If so, I will be taking it up there(they are my neighbors) next week for him to measure. That would be great as I love those lifts, but they didn't make the adapter I needed.
  11. So far I'm really enjoying having the lift adapter; however, I found that even with it, I had to jack the bike up higher in order to remove the rear wheel. Is this the "norm" or am I missing something? If it's the norm, perhaps Carbon One should make the legs longer...???
  12. Just bought my first ct and need to find info. on what lift is recommended and what to do to the splines(?) and shaft drive while my tire is being changed. I know there is a viscous debate regarding ct's which I have no interest in just want to do everything that needs to be done while I have that tire off! Thanks All!
  13. found this on E-bay item #250541066345, lift Adapter:mo money:
  14. Puchased the Harbor Freight Motorcycle lift, rated at 1500#, today and tried it out with the Carbon One adapter. The url for the lift= http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=2792 I had to pay $75 for the lift but it is worth it. The design is sturdy and the two step release to lower the bike works great - kinda odd because you have to press all the way down on the release lever to get it to lower slowly - normally you would think it would go faster all the way down - or maybe it is just me. Of course the adaptor worked just like everyone has stated before - perfect. The combination allows the task to be a solo adventure with no worries - just go slowly when lifting and allow the bike to stabilize before raising off the floor. I'm a satisfied customer. Jinksy
  15. Hey folks. I have a lot of bikes and do a whole lot of bike maintenance in my home shop for myself and others. I've always had the mechanics curse and can't say no to any motorcycle or car repair challenge:detective:. I'm getting older:backinmyday: and am tired of kneeling or lying down to work on bikes. I retired a few years back, but stayed around until my replacement can take over (next June). So, with more available time, I want to keep working on bikes, but have things a little easier. Looking to buy a 1500# motorcycle lift table pneumatic/hydraulic type and am looking for input on the most recommended one out there. A 1000 # will probably do, but I don't wanna leave a 900+ # bike on a 1000 # lift for any extended period if it takes a while for repairs/parts. Maybe I'm overkilling the need. Chime in and tell me your thoughts. Size isn't an issue. I have room. Dependablility and durability are my priorities. O.K., now I'm open for your suggestions....and thanks!

I grieve, this is a travesty,,,...! I've google'd the perp. I won't go there on this site but may I say please do the same and draw your own conclusion. Lift our military folks up!, please pray! I'm so sick! Renne U.S.A.F. ret.
  17. I recently got a Carbon One lift adapter ( love it ) and was wandering which lift was the most popular and why. I have a Sears lift that I bought a LONG time ago. I think I paid around $50 for it and it has served me very well. I initially purchased the lift for my GoldWing trike, worked well.
  18. Got a question. The company I work for has a hydraulic lift on our dock. The tank and pump for it is inside in a cabinet next to my work area. The other day smoke came rolling out of the cabinet so I killed the power and opened it up. On the pump assembly there is a shaft that sticks out and there is a coil on it. That was fried and the cause of the smoke. The lift will still work but it will drop back down to ground level when you release the button on the control. They had a company repair guy (shade tree) come in and he spent three days working on it. This morning the lift was working but when I inspected the pump I saw he had removed the coil and not replaced it. He did some rewiring (hack job) and left it at that. The "repair" work he did it sloppy and left bare wires. So with that info can anybody tell me what this coil does? It's a Delta Power Company DOL25 24 VAC. Fits a 1/2 shaft. I have some safety concerns about this repair and want to know how this works and what it does.
  19. Well folks as much as I hate to do it I'm going to have to raise prices on the lift adapters. Between being squeased 3 ways on costs I really don't have much choice. Cost of steel, shipping, and shipping materials have been going up crazy this last 6 months or more. This being said, new prices will go into effect Aug 17, 09. Any orders prior to this date will be $10 less or at the current costs as they have been. Freestanding adapters will be $145 and Standard lift adapters will be $95. As before these prices include shipping anywhere in the USA. Canadian orders will have added costs . PM or e-mail me for quotes on shipping to Canada. Thanks to all previous customers, Larry
  20. Several months ago I bought a Rampage lift so that I could take the Venture and the camper to the Grand Canyon this year. I had a couple set backs with my right knee replacement and haven't been able to try it out until this past week. Attached are a few pics of the lift in action and the end result. This is one darn nice unit and really is a one man operation.
  21. Like by tomorrow a.m. The shop confirmed I got a loose baffle in my collector. haven't been able to ride it in three weeks and am getting antsy. So please tell me: Aside from the rattle, will I do further damage by riding with it loose? Can You remove a loose baffle without removing the collector? Can you eliminate the collector altogether? They still have it on the lift and if I let them know in the a.m. whether to tackle it, they might actually be able to get me back on the road before the weekend. Thanks a milion!
  22. Just had my bike on the lift. When I started letting it down I head a pop. When I removed the lift adapted and pulled the lift from under my bike I say a big spring on the ground. It is the spring that holds the kick stand. I have tried and tried to put the spring on but I can't get it to stretch enough. Anyone know how I can get this spring back on.
  23. Followed the advice on the forum and decided to change my back tire ( really worn out and ready to blow) and changed the oil. The hardest part was finding a bike lift. Thanks to you all, I saved a bucket full of money and had a great time.
  24. Hey all, Just ordered a Carbon_one free standing lift adapter and was intrested in knowing which Sears jack best works with the adapter. I had the red lift several years ago and it seemd to work well for the short time I had it. Have been reading the reviews lately on Sears web site and the red lift dosen't seem to be very popular in ratings. Just wanted to know how others feel about this and out of the two is the red or yellow lift better with Carbon_one lift adapter and supporting our heavy bikes? Thanks, Dennis
  25. there used to be a motorcycle lift that mounted in the bed of your truck and would reverse and lower to the ground to load or unload your bike. I can't seem to find a web site - anybody remember these lifts ?? I think I found it - sticker shock has got me tho ----
