  1. Mt daughter and I are going to tour Da UP next week. The only destination that is set in stone is KI Sawyer AFB. I was stationed there for 6.5 years in the late 80's and I would like to see how much has changed since it was shut down in 1995. Kevin
  2. "Cupcake" and all the other former deck jockeys... Boomer, a new retiree greeter at Walmart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time. Every day he was 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies. One day the boss was in a real quandary about how to deal with it. Finally, he called him into the office for a talk. "Boomer, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang on job, but your being late so often is quite bothersome." "Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it." "Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd though, your coming in late. I know you're retired from the Navy. What did they say if you came in late there?" "They said, 'Good morning, Chief. Tea or coffee this morning, sir?'"
  3. We would like you to meet te newest addition to the Family, Kolton James, he was a little late, but what a great Fathers day Gift! born 6/21/10 @ 0700
  4. OK folks...I know it's kind of late notice but I had posted before that I would try to see if we could get a discount on Dyno runs at a local shop about 4 miles up the road. I had noticed a new sign in front that said "Dyno now available". I stopped and talked to him today. He usually charges $90.00 for a Dyno run that does not include tuning. He said that if we had enough people interested, he would do them for $40.00 each. I personally don't see the need for one but if enough of you are interested, I will call him back tomorrow and let him know. He has to do them in the late evening/night due to the noise and the fact that there is another business next door to him. So...it's your call.
  5. It's time to say good bye to an era. Been stuck in the "50"'s too long. My Ol' Custom has a new "ol fart" owner as of yesterday. Yep, it's time for me to "refine". My target replacement is something like I owned in the late "60"'s.....see,,, I gained 10 years! Pix to follow..............hope the suspense is got'cha! Renne....
  6. For the first time in her life Ramona was late for work.Good reason to a last minute schedule change she didn't know about. It's time to pull her out for a better life. Here is to a M-F job somewhere waiting for her that permits weekends off.We need family time and riding time.Last year the scoot wasn't out of the barn not once. That ^#!@ Stops today.Sorry guys just had to vent. Wish us luck.I chewed on her managers arse today and boy did that feel good.I was about ready to hit second gear when she hung up on me.
  7. Would you believe I got a email this afternoon that was mailed on Jan. 9, 2010, almost three months late! What is the latest youall have gotten a email? tew47
  8. Would there be any interest in getting together in Eureka Springs late Summer or Early Fall. Stay at the Eidelweiss, do some riding, drink some beverages and tell lies? I'm thinking of heading down that way around then and just wondering if anyone else up for riding and lying
  9. Ok guys look and see what is hiding in the shed or under the stuff in the corner of the garage....A friend is looking for a 250cc to 350cc BSA street bike for his wife. Now that should be easy! Late 60s early 70s...Show me what you have Thanks Dave
  10. Being from Louisiana, we use some surpurlatives here that some people don't use and if I at some time during the year have offenced anyone or made anyone lost their relax, dat was not my intention and I apologize from the bottom of my heart.................don't that sound good, really, I don't give a damn.......... Happy New Year....... I love you guys. This was a quote from the late great Justin Wilson at a ducks unlimited banquet that he spoke at. I sure do miss him........
  11. Not completely gone, but limited access. Will check in when I can. I have to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow and then drive to the company resort near Hayward, WI for our semi-annual sales meeting. They do have WIFI there but only in the lodge, not in the cabins so I can only check in quickly once or twice a day. Will be returning very late Friday night. Hope you all have a great week and remember me while I am there getting my semi-annual attitude adjustment.
  12. I have noticed this bike in the driveway and thought I should stop in and introduce myself and Ventureriders but it would appear I am too late. It's a clean looking bike and I'm thinking it's a good deal. It looks like he's missing the trunk. For what it's worth... http://stcatharines.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-Still-available-as-of-Sept-19-1984-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ-12000-W0QQAdIdZ150331358

  15. http://picturesI would like to take a moment to thank EVERYONE that had anything, in any way, to do with the International Rally and the raffling of the trailer. It is an honor to be this year's recipiant of the grand prize. I got the trailer home from Des Moines IA late Wednesday night and finally got to take some pictures of it yesterday. (I will post them after lunch.) I can not say enough about the people at Thomas Bus Sales in Des Moines. They were wonderful to deal with and very professional in thier actions. I got to pick out the trailer I wanted and they had it prepped and loaded in 15 minutes. We were back on the road headed to Ky in less than 30 minutes total. I am looking forward to loading it up and heading out to the mountains when I return from work in late Sept. The Warden has already picked us out a location to go down in the Smokies... :dancefool: Again, Thank You to everyone that made this possible,, And ECK,, sorry about your luck man..LOL
  16. If you plan on coming and havent mailed your registration yet,PLEASE do not mail them in, hold onto them and we will handle it at the Rally.................. I am still receiving them and I dont want any showing up after I leave, I dont want to deny anyone anything when they arrive because I havent received their registration. No penalty for late registrations.........................
  17. Northern California Coast... Hwy 101 "Avenue of the Giants". Check out http://www.aveofthegiants.com/ This road is a spectaular look into an ancient redwood forest. The road winds ever so gracefully for about 30 miles with lots of little "burgs" along the way to stop and "refresh" yourself or sut to stretch and enjoy the beauty. It is really hard to describe the feeling you get riding through this forest other than to say you feel really... small. Was there late last summer...crowds were gone and the pavement was in great shape too. SW Washington Highway 25 and 99 from Swift Washington up to the Windy Ridge Observatory at Mt. St. Helens. http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/04maps/files/mshrec.jpg Again...what can I say...Mt. St. Helens is a must see but to avoid the crowds and get into some really good riding check out the east side of the park. I rode up there last fall and what a sight...a little chilly late in the season but wow!!! Again, the rode less travelled and the pavement was in great shape. Excellent access if you head south to the Columbia Gorge too...but that is totally different write-up. Enjoy the ride wherever it takes you...just RIDE!!! G
  18. Note to self: Cancel credit cards prior to death! Be sure to cancel your credit cards before you die! This is so priceless, and so easy to see happening--customer service being what it is today! A lady died this past January, and ANZ Bank billed her for February and March for their annual service charges on her credit card, and then added late fees and interest on the monthly charge. The balance that had been $0.00, now is somewhere around $60.00. A family member placed a call to the ANZ Bank: Family member: "I am calling to tell you that she died in January" ANZ: "The account was nevewr closed and the late fees and charges still apply" Family member: "Maybe you should turn it over to collections?" ANZ: "Since it is two months past due, it already has been" Family member: "So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?" ANZ: "Either report her account to the fraud division, or report her to the credit bureau, maybe both!" Family member: "Do you think God will be mad with her?" ANZ: "Excuse me??" Family member: "Did you just get what I was telling you.....The part about her being dead?" ANZ: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my Supervisor" Supervisor gets on the 'phone: Family member: "I'm calling to tell you she died in January" ANZ: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply" Family member: "You mean you want to collect from her estate?" ANZ: (stammering) "Are you her lawyer?" Family member: "No, I'm her great nephew" (Lawyer information is given) ANZ: "Could you fax us a certificate of death?" Family member: "Sure" (fax number is given) After they receive the fax: ANZ: "Our system just isn't set up for death. I don't know what more I can do to help". Family member: "Well, if you figure it out, great!! If not, you could just keep billing her.I don't think she will care". ANZ:"Well, the late fees and charges still apply". Family member: "Would you like her new billing address?" ANZ: "That might help" Family member: "Rookwood Memorial Cemetary, 1249 Centenary Rd, Sydney-Plot Number 1049" ANZ: "Sir, that is a cemetery!" Family member: "Well, what the heck do you do with dead people on your planet????"

    If I

If I could. I would what. For me it would be to turn back time and spend more time with my children through their school years. Work was always in the way then. Now I know, to late, work will always be there.
  20. Hi Everyone My 83 venture 1200 is on the road where she belongs. I will work out the bugs over time and I just want to say thanks for all the help everyone gives here:clap2:. A new problem has presented itself as of late and I hope someone can help. When I start the bike cold, the tack does not work and it sounds like I am running on two cylinders. In about 10 min it warms up and the tack starts to work and the power kicks in. We have had some colder mornings as of late here in Ottawa and some rain as well. Shamefully I must admit that I have allowed my baby to be out in the rain:depressed: Can anyone help with a suggestion or two?? Thanks Ryan
  21. i guess alot of folks are already heading this way for the meet everyone be carefull and have a safe trip. i think we are all ready for you. not to late to just fall in and come on. i think we have plenty of food. bill and linda.
  22. The first gen drive shaft I understand is unobtainable other than used these days. I see a few on ebay but many are for later years of the first gen. Is the drive shaft part itself common across the first gen years or does it evolve so that a late model one would be of no use for use in an '84 ? Thanks, Brian H.
  23. I know they are a little late but I figured better late than never. Here are some pics of my '08 RSTD I purchased back in June. Hope you guys like. Also I have included a pic of my family at the Foothills Parkway and a pic of the bike I had to let go to get my RSTD. I do miss my V Star from time to time though.
  24. I recieved this this morning. It's one thing for these lowlifes to send out the nigerian lottery crap, and then it's bad enough sending something under the guise of representing the FBI (as seen last week.) I normally just spam these, but I had to respond to this one. I can't print my response here or Freebird would be on me in a heartbeat. I guess the next one will be about a foreign national who died in the WTC. Go to Previous message | Go to Next message | Back to Messages Mark as Unread | Print ReplyReply All Move... COMPENSATION OF LOCKERBIE VICTIMS BY LIBYA GOVERNMENT You are reading from Barr Bayo ****tu (Esq) International human right activist/legal practitioner, attorney to late Eng Micheal Uwe a German American victim of terror attack blamed on Tripoli 1988 Lockerbie bombing that killed 270 people including women and children similler to 1986 bombing of a Berlin disco which killed 200 people. The attack also affected American/European/Asian and African companies and business opportunities in Tripoli and Germany. Under the agreement worked out between US and Libyan officials in August,Libya has agreed to pay the families and relatives of Lockerbie victims US$8m (4m pounds) each. This was made possible to compensate relatives of American and non American victims of UTA bombing and resolve other claims for property and personal damage from the Gaddafi International Foundtion for charity VIEW THE WEB PAGE BELOW FOR MORE UNDERSTANDING (www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/nov/21/lockerbie-libya) David Welch US diplomat who negociated the settlement adviced attorney's of the late victims to provide relative or family memeber of the victim to recive the compensation.Since my client Late Eng Micheal Uwe died along with his wife and only daughter Jessica who is supposed next of kin. If you agreed to partner with me get back to me for consideration to enable me file application of claim to the paying institution. 25. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are alive and well and that this trip has far exceeded my expectations! Wow, wow, wow is what Sleeperhawk has been hearing! We left Columbia, South Carolina Friday morning after the rain delay, getting into Prattville, Alabama that afternoon. Visited with my "mom and dad" for a few hours (he had surgery Monday and is doing great!). We got into Meridian, Mississippi late that night, riding under the stars and Milky Way! Left Meridian and met Wild Hair 39 for lunch in Shreveport. Got into Joshua, Texas and visited with George's daughter and granddaughter, leaving Monday afternoon into Ballinger. While in Ballinger on the way to my uncle's place, saw a 2006 Venture sitting by a house so had to go and find the owner! We talked to the father of the owner of the bike and learned he knew my uncle and cousin! On Tuesday, met cousins and brother at Lowake Inn. If you ever go there and order KC for two, expect to feed five people (normal people, Sleeperhawk says!) Onion rings were soooo good too! From Lowake on Tuesday, we rode to Albuquerque, New Mexico, getting there late that night, then waking up to beautiful hot air balloons in the sky and breathtaking mountains. On Wednesday, we rode through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. We then got to the Grand Canyon late, just at sunset as you can see by the pictures, and left in the dark, with signs for us to watch out for deer, elk, mountain lion or cougars and other "wild" animals! All we saw was a coyote! We spent the night in Flagstaff. Then Thursday, we headed to Needles, California and by golly, I can now put it on my map (to be updated when we return home). From there, we rode the hot, desert roads into Las Vegas, via Laughlin. Took a break in Las Vegas. Left Vegas on Friday, spent about an hour around Hoover Dam which is incredible! We went from Hoover Dam down to Gila Bend, Arizona and took I-8, bypassing Phoenix, getting into Tucson, Friday evening. Spent Saturday with George's brother and family. Now we are on our way to Four Corners and Cortez, Colorado! We always do not have Internet but just wanted to drop in and say hi and let you know where we are at! I have used three chips of pictures already! Ride safe, Bobbie
