  1. I know. I said that word but need some advice on this. If I retire I get a Medicaid Card or whatever it is from Social Security. Problem is Warden is 12 yrs younger than I am. It is going to cost me $537.00 a month to keep my health Insurance. It is very good insurance. I have to keep it on me and her to be able to keep it into retirement. I just need to cover her. Does this sound as high as I think it does?? I know people are paying a lot more I just don't have any idea how to shop for something like this. Getting rid of the Warden is NOT A OPTION!!!
  2. My son got his motorcycle license this weekend, I called my insurance company to put him on. They want to raise the cost 4 X ?? He has clean license ? Told him he can not drive it, as our state requires it to drive. Can anyone sugest a company (s)? Thanks!
  3. This is not an easy thing for me to do, but I feel like it's necessary. I've already taken care of this with Yammer Dan. A couple of weeks ago there were some comments made in the forum regarding insurance. To keep it short, I took offense and got really mouthy. That's not normally like me. I was out of line and regret doing so. I just wanted to apologize to all of you. Won't happen again.
  4. Well Wisconsin jumped on the band wagon for mandatory insurance now. Can't wait for my premiums to go so high I can't afford it anymore.
  5. came up with this? Motors Liquidation Company General Motors has a new name. Motors Liquidation Company, formerly General Motors Corporation, is engaged primarily in the development, production and marketing of cars, trucks and parts. It develops, manufactures and markets vehicles worldwide through its four automotive segments: GM North America (GMNA), GM Europe (GME), GM Latin America/Africa/Mid-East (GMLAAM) and GM Asia Pacific (GMAP). In addition to its automotive operations, the Company's finance and insurance operations are primarily conducted through GMAC LLC, which provides a range of financial services, including consumer vehicle financing, automotive dealership and other commercial financing, residential mortgage services, automobile service contracts, personal automobile insurance coverage and selected commercial insurance coverage. In July 2009, the Company announced that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the sale of substantially all of General Motors Corporation's assets to NGMCO, Inc. In July 2009, And at the same time, I get notification from the US Bancrupcy court that I am not allowed to either buy more or sell any of my GM Stock.... Thank gawd Big Brother is looking out for me...
  6. I checked into 7 insurance companies on the web in Ontario for my scoot The price ranges from $729.00 - $1149.00 and that $1149 was just for Pl and PD The $ 729.00 Full Coverage from TD Insurance witha $1000.00 deductible ,Primmum Insurance Company,Etobicoke, Ontario Riders Plus was $919.00 full Coverage
  7. Still got the Taurus? Ad claims you are only 40 miles from me. Little more than that I think. Looks good in pics. I'm stuck without transportation and waiting on insurance to say something. Just wanted to know if it was there. It looks good. What kind of MPG? Does it use any oil? I'm a Buick man but got stuck this time if Insurance don't come up with something I may have to buy a Skateboard. I got a good Unicycle!! Wanna trade??
  8. Anyone ever have a bike totalled by Dairyland/Sentry Insurance? How happy were you with the amount they offered?
  9. Seems like all I have done on here lately has been whine.I'm sorry. This last one really has me in a funk. But I will get back. Don't look good insurance wise right now but I will survive.
  10. Hi all. Well I am finally home from Greenland and getting ready for my trip to USA - leaving on Monday. I was trying to insure my USA bike but since I do not have a USA drivers license then none of the bigger companies will offer me insurance for my bike. For a moment things were looking to be hopeless and I was thinking about renting a cage to be able to attend Maintenance day. But I lucked out (so to speak). I found a company in USA that insures bikes for travel through guys like me. They are called: www.motorcycleexpress.com. I called them and they sent me a form to fill out and send back to them. O.K. - had a look at the form and compared to our forms here in Iceland this is complicated to say the least. The minimum time for insurance is 30 days and I can live with that. But the total for that period will exceed 400 US$ at least if the form is filled out the way I did it. I can also swallow that but I am running out of time so to speak and need your help. I will attach the file here and please have a look and tell me how you guys would fill this out - that is what coverage to take. Note that I want to be on the safe side and take as full coverage as possible. Need to send this out this weekend so the insurance will be ready Tuesday. So please helo me with this one so I can ride up to BigToms and to Don´s place next week. Bike or cage,,,,,, Lookin g forward to meet you all ! All the best from Iceland, Jonas
  11. Don't get me wrong, I like my Gen 1 Venture but get cramped up on longer rides. So I went to JUST LOOK at a 2002 GW with 25K miles on it. Well, I made an offer I thought the guy would counter (you know the game) and he says OK. Just got it home and put insurance on it. Will get plates tomorrow and be set. For now I am keeping my Venture to pull it's matching trailer. Get a lot of kicks watching people's reaction to trailer.
  12. Progressive isn't going to respond to an email when they have no information. I asked VGoose to send me his brothers name and or policy number and I will personally get a vice president of claims on the phone and let him log onto the web site under my name and read the responses about the claim. But without the policy number there is no way anyone from progressive can look at the claim and see what happened. I have met many of the people in the motorcycle department including the product manager for all of the united states and they stay in touch with me to find out how progressive stacks up in the market in my area. They also are constantly asking me what they can do to help me sell more progressive motorcycle insurance. I would love to have the information about this claim so I can tell them the way the claim was handled certainly doesn't help me or anyone else sell more progressive insurance. But if you aren't going to do something about it but complain to the people on this web site nothing can be done.
  13. Well, after months of healing, (crashed Sept. 22, deer came out bout 11PM, missed deer, back brake locked, got sideways, and down we go. Seven ribs, collar bone, and sore shoulder). The insurance company wanted to total, but I thought I could fix her back up. (04 midnight, 23,000 miles). Just plastic, and front and rear guards right side. Had most of parts off once already, soooo. Well a letter from insurance company they will only put libility, sooo, damm it come get it!!!!!!! Fever hit once it left the driveway. Lots of looking, even on our classified ads, but none were real close, and there is still ice and snow in northern minnesota!!!! Any way buddy told me to call a dealer 150 miles away. Had a new 08, silver and charcoal. $13,000 plus tax and license. No miles 5 year warranty. And the chance to accessorise again!!! Used to drive fast and take chances!!!!!!!! Now I guess it's time to grow up and almost act my age, don't heal like I used too!!!!!!!!! Take care and happy motoring!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I dropped my 2007 Venture last summer - all the way on the side with both wheels off the ground. It cost the insurance company 4500 dollars! I just got the bike back today and she looks wonderful again. I was amazed that the insurance company replaced all scratched parts - fixed nothing. It seems that Yamaha wouldn't release it's paint codes. So now I have an extra fairing front, Left cowl & Saddle bag & trunk. I even got a new set of highway pegs because you can't buy just the left one. Though the parts are scratched some. I'm sure glad for insurance! craigr
  15. I just moved from Ontario to Michigan...does anyone have advice for the cheapest motorcycle insurance in Michigan? Ken in Kalamazoo

    Insurance claim

For those of you that have been through having your bike repaired through an insurance claim: 1. How does it work? 2. Will they "low ball" or fix it back to "good as new"? 3. Will they replace the "after market" stuff? 4. Will I have any "say so" in anything? Like, "Hey that part needs to be replaced!" 5. Will I have an option of keeping any of the old parts? I am with State Farm and have full coverage. Thanks for any help. The bike is in the shop and I am awaiting an "estimate". Shep
  17. I just paid my motorcycle insurance tonight. It's snowing outside with another 5 months of the stuff.:snow2:

    06 RSV on eBay

Hey folks - guess what I found?? Search eBay for Item # 130268795530 That is my old bike, that was written off by the insurance company. Interesting how the seller claims that "it can likely be repaired for a few hundred" when the insurance company told me it was $14K to repair it! I guess I got my "drop quotient" all factored incorrectly too ... looks like when we went down in Minden, it was only a "minor drop"!!! LOL Cheers,
  19. I gave my '78 wing to my son. He is going to come pick it up in Oliver Springs just before christmas. He's looking for a trailer to put it on, as the tag and insurance expire a week before he'll get here. Also doesn't know what weather will be like. He's willing to rent so long as its reasonable. He's located in Hinesville Ga.
  20. Well, after a small(?) spill in front of my house that I rode away from...I got tired of looking at the dent inthe gas tank and the broken fairing so I put in an insurance claim and took the bike to the local dealer (Cal-Coast Motorsports) in Ventura, CA. Their estimate to repair the right side of the motorcycle was $7700. To be fair, they said that they would repair everything to showroom condition, and my motorcycle had EVERY chrome gadget/gizmo in the Star catalog. Many of these pieces had tiny scratches and were still VERY useable. Needless to say, the dollar amounts didn't add up, and GEICO totalled the motorcycle. I took the insurance proceeds and bought a 2009 model, red. The motorcycle, including a 4-year extended warranty (yes, through 2017), a 3 yr service contract (covers all recommended services, oil changes etc.), and 5 hrs of labor ($89 per hour) to put all of the sparkly trinkets on the new motorcycle for $21,000 OTD. i am thrilled and I can't wait to see how the 2009 fuel injected motor and CD player work out...oh wait....darn.

    What to do?

Interested in people's thoughts and suggestions: On October 7, I was in an accident. The accident happened about 200 miles from home, and I have not seen the 06 RSV up close and personal - I lost consciousness from the impact with the pavement and by the time I got out of the hospital, the bike had been towed away. So, today I get a call from the insurance company and they tell me they are going to write the bike off - really quite surprising to me, since the damage was all cosmetic. It is an 06 (bought in September 05) and has just over 71,000 kms (44,000 miles) on it. I have put a lot of extras on the bike (harley lights on the rear, trunk light, bag rails, chrome passenger and driver floor boards, Diamond R driver's backrest, Stebel horn, ISO grips, tank bib, tank tie, Kuryakin hiway pegs, wind vents, light visors, mudflaps, new pipes, and the list goes on). The insurance company is offering me CDN$17K (about US$14.4K) minus my deductible of $500. That is to walk away from the bike. The fellow tells me that in that, they have given me credit for $2K worth of accessories - I know I spent much more than that, but of course, you don't get dollar for dollar credit. I am leaning towards telling them that I will take $15K for the bike and I would then head up to the compound and take the accessories off. Of course, I would check the bike over first to see if the damage to the accessories was not significant. Any thoughts, ideas, recommendations? I have to close off on this one way or the other this coming Monday. Cheers,
  22. Well...I know that many of you have been through this already but today I take my 16 year old son to get his driver's license. I have been online getting insurance quotes to add him to my policy. Needless to say, my insurance is going UP UP UP. From what I can see so far, it will triple now with him on the policy. I'm talking about the car of course, not the bike.
  23. I got my new quonset barn 3/4's up and a 60+ mph wind just ripped it apart 2 hours ago. )*^$%^&*%$# I feel better now. Thank God for insurance.
  24. Forgive me for not having been on the forums (fora?) for a while.......but, has anyone brought up a discussion on affordable insurance lately? I'm with a broker called Dalton Timmis out of Burlington/Ancaster, who I think have me with an insurer called Elite(?). My "comprehensive" package on my '03 Midnight Venture comes to $988. Am I getting hosed? Anyone else riding in Canada getting a good rate from a broker they can recommend? Thanks for any tips. Mike.
  25. My insurance contacted me and said WRITE OFF.Bike value $3795can. My amount with deductible taken off (my pocket take home ) $3800 They get bike. If I keep bike $2700. They don't care about other things I put on(doesn't add to value)New tire $275/light bar $100/ Rotor covers$150/oil filter adapter $80. Will replace helmet even tho I don't have receipt if I cut off straps. Not sure if they will replace rain suit/gloves and boots if I don't have receipts. Wife wants me to leave bike and get the $3800 and get another. I think I should keep and get another close so I have spares and new parts. Seen 2-85s and 86 for under $3000can.One has under 36000klms. so keeping my bike could help out in future. Have only till tomorrow morning as insurance won't pay for storage any longer and I have to pickup(no problem as I have trailer that I can use) Any help----advice???????
