  1. Had searched venturerider for this info but couldn't find it. Found what I was looking for on another site. For others to easily find it... follow this link.http://forums.ilounge.com/car-solutions/44404-clarion-cbus-audio-input-installation.html
  2. Redoing the front forks on my 83' venture and need to order parts. http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=198921&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=1983&fveh=4522 Some is easy but just want input, what do I need to order and do I need to order 1 cause they come in sets or do I need to order 2 cause they are sold individually.
  3. I just wanted to say thank you to utopia as well as everyone else who posted input about drivers backrests. Because of the input, I recently purchased a new drivers backrest for my 2005 RSTD. Installation was very easy. I did drill out the holes a bit larger. The backrest is very comfortable, I put on 1000 miles last week to and from Sturgis SD last week. Highly reccommend!!!!
  4. OK, not looking to start anything but need to ask. Will be putting my RSTD up for sale soon I hope and then plan to replace her with a 1st gen VR. However, if I am not able to find exactly what i am looking for I am also a bit tempted to take a close look at the Kawi Voyager XII. They don't really look as sexy as the 1st gen however am hearing plenty of good stuff concerning their performance, reliability and economy. Anyone had any experience with these bikes? Would welcome some input. Will probably looking more at the early 90's to say 2000 year models if that helps. HAve also toyed with a wing but it just seems like everyone has to have a wing and additionally they tend to be much higher priced looking apples to apples with the competition. Kinda what drew me to the VR in the first place. Thanks abunch for the input.
  5. I'm considering buying a Zumo but that's a lot of loot and I really only half-understand what all this thing will do. I would appreciate some input from those who have them and have used them. Any input would be appreciated. Does the Zumo plug into the bike's existing sound system? If so, how does it connect? If so does it then play through the AUX function? I understand the Zumo is Bluetooth compatible. Is that correct? Can you receive calls through your helmet headset? From reading the various threads about the Zumo it sounds as though the newer version may be significantly improved over the 550. Any thoughts on that? As far as playing the MP3 music, do you load the Zumo from your computer at home or does it have a jack to plug an iPod into? Thanks in advance for any information you might have to share. Kingbird '05 Venture (Liquid Silver)
  6. Ok folks Looking to buy a jack for my venture. Visited hobour freight ans look at diffrent jacks, was wondering if anyone has tried them and how the work with this bike. Any input would be helpful. Thanks Joe
  7. Ins. questions, Looking to change to Progressive. My question is how many carry PIP coverage. Is it worth what they want ( it is high) or do you just count on your medical coverage. Thanks for the input.
  8. Ladies, The 2009 Rally has a goal of making sure that there is something for everyone. What kind of events, activities, games, or prizes would you like to see, do, experience, etc. We want to make sure that everyone has a good time at the rally and need your input to help us out with our planning. Guys, What kinds of activities would your wife enjoy being a part of during the rally?
  9. Thanks again for the input on a trunk rack. I'm getting one. Now, what about bags for it. Had a trunk rack bag on my GW 1500 way back when but can't remember the brand. I'm looking at the Star model but wonder if anyone has something they like better. Any input appreciated.
  10. I am in the market for a pair of chaps. while i can make my own, i have too much going on right now and have some leather work sitting in wait, so that really won't happen. who makes a good set? i would like a thick leather, but would like the input of folks who have been there and done that. I have some riding pants, but i wind up with jeans, grab my riding jacket and helmit. so i am going to go the chap route. if they are unisex as they seem, i will probably get a pair for Deb as well. i need to go to bed, so i will check this thread tomorrow (today really). well, i will check it later - Ok? and, thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
  11. Ok i was reading a thread the other day about showing your helmet and most of the one's i saw on the thread were involved in a accident. now i know the object is to not fall over on your scooter but it happens so i went on a search for a new helmet and i wanted to get some input. i really like this one http://www.hjchelmets.com/images/products/product_images/is33/solid/wine_side2.jpgsince i got a little older and need to wear glasses this seems like a good choise and i like the integrated sun shield. any thoughts and comments are always welcome. Thanks Ron
  12. I did a thread a couple of weeks ago on my bike not wanting to go straight.I changed the steering bearings and it made a world of difference. Thanks for the input and help. Now that I did that when i left the handlebar lay I got air in the clutch line. Hope that should be an easy fix. Again thanks for the help.
  13. I finally came up with a solution to having a fully modern setup for the bike. I did not want wires and I dont need CB. I do need to be ablet ot talk to the wife, take a cellphone call, and listen to music+GPS instructions. I landed on the Scala Rider Q2 multiset. for the helmets. $250. at most amazon.com retailers. This gives me headsets that will talk to my Phone and each other for intercom. bonus the wife can connect to her own phone and chat away on the back of the bike to whoever she wants to call without bugging me. I needed GPS and my ipod, wanting to stay wireless I came up with an idea. I need to mix 2 audio sources... so I need to make the following cable.... input 1 is the ipod, input 2 is the GPS. hook them to a FM transmitter for an ipod. Now set your volumes and you are almost all set. All I need to do is to set the scala Q2's to that FM channel and it's all done. Stereo sound, GPS alerts, Intercom and Cellphone. This allows me to use a cheap GPS, plus a cheap mp3 player or ipod with the wireless control on the handlebar. Far less than the cost of a used bluetooth GPS and near the price of a new set of headsets for the bike. Plus I get current technology instead of 1983 technology and best of all.... no wires for the wife to forget to disconnect and rip out a connector.

  17. My Bike does not have the factory CD player. I was thinking of putting one in but not quite sure I want to give up the space in my Trunk or saddlebags also curious how well they work on a motorcycle as far as skipping? Was wondering if anyone had any input on this like if you have 1 and had it to do all over would you install another?
  18. Check this out is this the same engine as the RSV, RSTD 2008 left over what should I offer? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-V-Star-XVZ13-2008-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe-S-XVZ13-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ120524008647QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item1c0fca6cc7 Thanks for any input. :)
  19. Got a friend looking for a RSTD. Found a dealer with a new, 0 miles 2006 RSTD Midnight. They want 11k. Seems kinda high for a 4 year old bike? Any input here?
  20. Your input check this out on E-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-Honda-Valkyrie-INTERSTATE-MINT-RARE-Condition_W0QQitemZ170424457174QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item27ae16d7d6 Is it worth it?????
  21. Ok here's what I need a little input on. I've changed over the forks on the '83 and put on R1 calipers. And they worked very well in Cody and over the BearTooth. I'm thinking about using an HH brake pad on the right caliper and a sinistered on the left. I do have one set of HHs, but thought I'd ask for some input before going out and buying something for the left. The HH will definately increase left stopping power, but do I need it on both sides?? Whatcha think.
  22. Hello Everyone: I'm the new guy on the block here I suppose. On Saturday I picked up my "new to me" 2006 RSTD. After putting on around 600 miles so far with my wife on the back, the stock seat just might be ok. After much moving around I seemed to find a sweet spot that wasn't torturing my tail bone. Anyway, here's my question (finally). I put a Utopia backrest on our 98 goldwing and my wife found that it really restricted her room on the back so does anybody have any input as to how their wife feels with the Utopia on the bike. Thanks in advance for your advice and input. Greg
  23. about a week ago I started a thread after driving into the ditch. I want to thank saddlebum, eazyduzzit, 99silver, Yammer Dan, SteveP, Eck, Twenty7Delta, BigBoyinMS, Wes0778 for input, suggestions & wit. they made this fix go easier & quicker than if I had not had their input. they all worked. the RSV is back together & ready for a ride. If the rain would ease up a bit, i could take it for a test ride. i avoided having to make a claim on the insurance, plus i got to do some work i may not have gotten to other wise. Like i really needed that! anyway here are some pictures of the work involved. I will upgrade and add the crash bar brace - but that will be another day. that upgrade will be easy compared to this self inflicted work. I want to thank not only those who gave direction, but to everyone on this site. it is refreshing to have this community. now if we can just get to gathering. time is something there is just not enough of. Dale in Louisiana
  24. My 21 year old son in law went down yesterday in the drizzle. He is fine (only doing about 15 m.p.h.) but his bike (V Star 650) has some damage. I have included some pictures. Appears that he will need a right foot assembly. I can't tell from the pictures if his handlebars are bent (he says they are) or if its in the tree. Any input would be appreciated,he lives 10 miles south of Tyler in Whitehouse if anyone is in the area and might want to go by and look at it. It will be this weekend at the earliest that I can take a peek and start a parts list. As always, Thanks for the help all...
  25. I recently mounted a Garmin 2720 GPS to my recently acquired 03 RSV and connected into the AUX input. Lots of background humming was solved with a Radio Shack ground loop isolator. I then split the audio out from the 2720 and my Satellite radio with standard 1/8" splitters. The 2720 is mono out and is cutting out one channel from the satellite radio when both are on. Just being connected and not on, the 2720 is messing up the satallite badly. I had hoped to share the AUX input as I did on my prior ride with an aftermarket audio system. I see many expensive solutions talked about here. I also picked up on a few inexpensive idea (thx guys). But after speaking with an engineering type friend of mine, he came up with an easy plug and play affordable solution. It was simple and it works: - Simply put a Ground Loop Isolator on the output of both devices that will share the AUX input of the factory radio. A number of adapters are required to make the transitions from headphone type jacks to the RCA types of the Ground Loop Isolator and back to headphone jack of the AUX input. Everything is Radio Shack available. Wall Mart has the Isolators for $13.50 by me ($18 @ Radio Shack). - In my case, since the Garmin 2720 is mono out, I also had to get a 1/32" mono - 1/8" stereo adapter. - In all I spent ~$40 for the connection hardware, no soldering, just plugs and wire ties. Hows it work? - Adjust the bike volume to a comfortable level and the device output volumes of both units so that the GPS is comfortably louder than the other device, in my case the satellite radio. - Although I have to crank up the bikes volume slightly more than I used to, it sounds just as good as it did before and when it GPS time, she chimes in nicely. Hope it helps... _______________
