  1. First of all this is Tn. and when they call for snow people freak and run to the store no matter what.. So I figure Pam and me would wait till around 11 tonight since it's not moving in till tomorrow and it still 45 degrees. So we gather up our weekly stuff at the store and some folks are still shopping more than normal and so as we went to check out the lady knows of us cause we come in there every week around this time, so we are in line and 3 other people was behind us, I told the cashier figure we would do ours tonight since they readvise and instead of 2 inches they are calling for 6 to 8 inches something about a front dropping more.. These people behind me left the line and went and did more shopping, cashier ask did you really hear that? I said no, but I just increase your sales........ROFLMAO Pam walked out just shaking her head..
  2. Yep, they are calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow today and another 3 to 5 inches overnight with 30 mph winds.....guess winter is on its way..back to the 40's on sunday... time to remove the air condititioners. lol....I hate snow !!!!..but on the plus side, I do have a new snow blower to try out................
  3. My new Clearview windshield (Medium Light Grey with vent) arrived on Monday. I installed the shield on Tuesday morning in less than 20 minutes... very straightforward and easy, even for one who is mechanically challenged. The grey shield on my grey 2008 Venture looks great. I went for a ride, and had no complaints from my passenger. There was no noticeable increase in wind buffeting even at speeds over 100 kph. I noticed a little more wind, which is what I wanted. At 5 ft 11 inches, I am still looking through the top few inches of the shield, however. I was hoping to be able to see over the top. I may shorten the shield by four inches or so. The Clearview shield is much more solid than the stock shield. The shield I purchased was advertised as having “very slight scratches”. I will have to take a very much closer look, as I have not spotted them yet!
  4. 3 inches of :snow2: has fallen
  5. Has anyone tried this? By my calculation and I may be wrong. It would increase rpm's by 344 @ 60 mph, calculated. The rear would be 1.18 inches lower but a leveling kit raises about an inch so it would be about the same and help 5th gear?
  6. I have noticed that when I stop at a light or a traffic jam, there is a tremendous amount of heat coming at my legs and drifting up. When I got back to the garage I left it running and looked around for the source. It seems that most of the heat comes from the 1.5 inches of exposed exhaust pipe from the back two cylinders. Does any one make a shield for this space? Rich
  7. G'day All I'm replacing the oil in the front forks of my '83 VR after fitting new seals on the anti-dives. I have progressives. What oil level do I use ? 5 inches from the top or 5 and a half inches ? Jim O'D...........
  8. My new-to-me 97 Tour Classic came with a Yamaha Windshield. It measures 23 1/2 inches from the headlight opening to the top. I assumed that was the "Tall" that was originally on the bike. The shield itself has the protective coating pealing off really badly which makes looking through it when the sun hits near impossible. So since I need a new windshield anyway, I am trying to purchase a "Medium" so that I can look over the top. Now as far as I can tell checking data from various websites the Yamaha windshields come in three sizes each 3 inches shorter than the next: Tall - 23 1/2 inches Medium - 20 1/2 inches Short - 17 1/2 inches So twice now I have won auctions from two different sellers on E-Bay selling a Medium Royal Star Windshield. Problem is when I get them they measure 17 1/2 inches which I believe to be a short - not the medium I thought I was buying. The first one the seller stated he was unsure and just "thought" it was a medium and took it back. The last one even had the following part number on it: STR-4NL07-10-00, which, when I looked it up showed a medium, but when I just opened the box it measures 17 1/2 inches again. So, as sit here for a second time very frustrated: What is the true measurement of the Yamaha "Medium"? What Yamaha Part Number should I be looking for if I want a medium shield for a 97 Tour Classic?
  9. Charlene is out of surgery and back in her room now, they will have her up and walking after lunch. The Dr. said her hip was really bad, and said she should have had this surgery years ago....The doctors here are the best, on top of all the latest techniques, in fact they pioneer much of it at Emory Univ, which this is part of................She is still a little groggy, and has her pump for the pain which I have to keep reminding her to use..........It is unbeleivable how small the incision is for this type of surgery, its only about 4 inches long, and its on the front side of her hip, new technique only done by a couple of surgeons, the recovery time is much shorter and far less restrictions as to what she can do. We will she how well she walks after lunch..................
  10. NOT!!!!! This is what we got when we woke up this morning forecast 6 inches of snow
  11. The only thing I do not like about my new (to me) 2006 RSTD is the very high windshield. I have always set my shields up so my line of sight is about 2 inches above the plexiglass for an undistorted view. This windshield seems about 5 inches too high for my 5 foot 9 inch frame. Have any of you folks cut down the stock shield? I also found out Yamaha makes a direct replacement unit that is 7 inches shorter....anybody have any experiance with the shorter shield?
  12. When I bought my bike it was lowered 2.5 inches. I'm a tall guy so I had it put back to stock height this week. I actually think I may want the leveling links put on in the future. I like the bike being higher a lot better.... The Yamaha dealership quoted me $750 to raise the bike. I had it done by a local guy for $50. Yeah, look at the difference. He said it was a very simple process to lower/raise the bike. Anyhow, I have the links and plate to relocate the brakes if anyone is interested. Like I said before, it will lower the rear end about 2.5 inches. I have no idea what it's worth. Is anyone interested? Let me know.... Ben

  14. I'm happy Nov. 16,2009 8 point--green score about 135 inches Show us your deer pics from this year.
  15. I got my hair cut awhile ago, it was so long, that i could use it as a beard. Front and back, maybe half a foot to 10 inches in places I got it cut to 3/8th of an inch, free cut too:225:
  16. This whole thing is embarrassing to tell, but it is the truth. Yesterday, at the school where I work, the staff was worried to death about the possible snow storm that was headed our way. The prediction was the by 4 AM the snow would start and probably by noon on Thursday there would be 2 inches of snow. Then by the afternoon we would have a possible 3 to 5 inches of snow! The teachers were constantly asking about the weather reports. The problem with this is the community where our schools are located, the people get frantic about SNOW. Which we jokingly call the WHITE DEATH! I am off school today because of the snow. The issue is, if we had had school the parents would have been angry because we had put their children in danger. The timing of the storm was the problem too, it was supposed to get gradually worse as the day went on. So at the time of dismissal at 4PM the road conditions could have been very bad. So not knowing how this was going to turn out, the administrators canceled school. Of course, it was not just our school district, all across the surrounding Cincinnati communities schools were closed because of the weather. I also suppose the below freezing temps, had something to do with this decision. I guess my questions are there other towns who get so crazy about the snow. I do of course, blame the weather people. They seem to promote this sort of behavior. Yama Mama:snow2::snow:
  17. thanks for for all the video clips. It's 5 degs outside with 4 inches of snow. Thanks for all the nice weather rides. Cb
  18. I got about 3 hours seat time today. Had to plow twice once in the morning and again this after noon. We have about 12 inches now and still snowing. First priority was to plow the dog a potty patch. His muffler drags at 4 inches.
  19. I got out and rode some yesterday. Good thing, woke up about 6:15 to 3-4 inches of snow. Its 11:00 am now and we have around 6-7 inches and are expecting in our area about 18-24 inches by sunday. I guess New Jersey will call a stateof emergency. Our road guys are not used to seeing those snow totals here. I hope everyone has a great holiday and stay safe. Chris:rudolf:
  20. I thought mine was fine till a friend sent me the following? Got any more to add? aoladp://MA25530668-0001/01FA72~1.GIFToday's BEst of the BEst Dr. Visit aoladp://MA25530668-0002/0937FA~1.GIF brother Don I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. The nurse starts with the usual basics. "How much do you weigh?" she asks. I say, "135." The nurse puts me on the scale.. It turns out my weight is 180. The nurse asks, "Your height?" I answer, "5 feet 4 inches." The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 5 feet 2 inches. She then takes my blood pressure and tells me that it's very high. "Of course it's high!" I scream. "When I came in here I was tall and slender! Now I'm short and fat!" She put me on Prozac.
  21. Another big blew-it by the forecasters. I went to bed last night expecting to have all kinds of fun playing in the 8-14 inches of snow that was being predicted for the last week. All I heard on the news was about this monster storm coming, the Great White Death, gloom and doom, dogs and cats living together, ........... Live reporters scattered all over the area, a reporter at the salt piles, reporters by all of the plow trucks standing by, reporters at major intersections, ......... Well I woke up this mourning nice and early to have time to deal with the pinheads on the road for my 20+ mile commute, and when I opened the door to leave there was nothing, not a single bit of snow on any paved surface and Maybe a half inch on the grass, and I did not find any snow anywhere on the drive in to work! I realize that there were some people that got hammered like Madison WI with 17 inches down and another 6 expected with 40 mph winds just to keep it interesting. I feel cheated. I like snow. Its fun to drive in. Yes I am a little demented. OK rant over, I'll let everyone else get back to digging out.
  22. Weather service is calling for 12 inches of rain in your area. You got a boat?:250:
  23. Finally got the nerve to take a jigsaw to the stock windshield that came on the V Star, that sucker was 23 inches tall, now its just a tad over 19 inches tall, looks much better, and now I can see over it. Wasn't to hard to do, just had to take it slow and easy. I need to thank :thumbsup:Lowell and Steve Wagner for the tips on how to do it. I will be leaving it on for the ride to Memphis.
  24. So, I unpacked my new mufflers and began to inspect them. Well this set is good. Only took from original order date (06-05-2008) until now for MAC to get me a set that weren't rusted or mis-made. Had one set with the right over 3 inches longer than the left. Here are pictures of the mufflers before mounting. We can put this someplac on the site for reference. I will also take pictures when they are mounted.
  25. I found an inexpensive bag that will fit in the side bags of my 07 RSV, at KMart. it is 22 inches long, 10 inches wide and 12 inches tall. its about 4 inches taller than necessary, but will work well as a quick clothes carrier if you want one. I paid $9.99 for it, and found it in the sports bag/backpack area of KMart. Its made by North Pak Duffel, and comes in blue, green and yellow. Its 600 denier polyester.
