Yesterday, I road across the Nevada Desert on HWY 50 on my Venture. As I neared the Utah boarder, temps rose to almost 110 degrees. While I showed that I still had fuel in the tank and I had not yet switched to reserve, I began to feel those momentary surges and sputters which typically occur right before running out of gas. So, I backed-off on my speed and somewhat "drafted" behind a truck for the last 25 miles before I reached a gas station. After filling-up and getting back on the highway, I again began to feel similar surges and sputters occasionally as I attempted to reach speed. This time however, I knew full well that I had plenty of fuel, so that couldn't be it. Then, I began to think that perhaps the in-line fuel filter I installed some time ago might need to be changed. After a little while the temperature dropped down to the upper 90s and my fuel feed issue seemed to disappear over the last 100 miles. So, was it probably a heat-related issue in the carburetors or more likely the fuel filter? If it was the heat which was affecting the performance, what's the best way to deal with it when stuck in the heat? And, if it is the heat which is causing the problem, what exactly is happening? Anyway, we arrived safe and sound, albeit a little bit on the crispy side. Thanks guys and Be Safe! Pete & Sandy

its hot here in peru IL but i had to go out and do some errands i was driving the pontiac grandprix its black in color i had the a/c on high as it can go and it was ice cold in there. i pulled up into my yard to go get somethings out of my apartment when it hit me. i felt like someone sucker punched me right in the head and guts. i went down to the ground and my leggs started to cramp. i did manage to get inside my apartment where i started to drink warm not cold water. i did not make it out to run my errands as im sick to my guts and my head feels like the little drummer boy is in there beating his drum. and im running a light fever of about 100.6 dang i thought here we go another heat stroke like i had back in 1978 while in the army. right now im feeling a little better and the a/c is helping along with gatoraid. i just want to say be carefull out there in 90+ heat and high humidity

http://www.coolwingrider.com/ Have any of our members tried these? I have the water soak vests but I don't like getting saturated so I ordered the 2 up special hoping these will work OK. I had about decided to trailer to Cody because of the heat but now I may ride if these work out like a few have said they do. Anyway if I don't like they say return for refund.

These are the type that get glued onto your bar and the grip goes over and as per manufacturer also on top of the throtle under the grip. I used it all winter keeping my hands warm . I had a situation where I thought my throttle cables were binding. I lubed, adjusted lubed again with no cure. Not till chaging bars did I realize that the throttle plastic grip was distorted due to the heat from the heating strips. The throttle binds and is awesome as a cruise but taking a trip though traffic I really wished the things was working smoothly. I know I will be purchaing a throttle lock but is there any way to get the throttle back to shape. heat and something ???

Now I have the Harley I'm feeling bike heat bad on the back of my right thigh...due to it being stiff, and the angle straight down. Contacted Lorna to purchase some heat shield fabric....won't let me pay! She is going to hem it for me AND mail it to utadventure's address -- at her cost :clap2::clap2: Nice folks:sign yeah that:

Due to recent cutbacks my position was eliminated and I was terminated today.I was the plant Electrician and HVAC technician.I guess with cutbacks they dont need electricity or heat and air.My wife has been unemployed for a year now so I guess we can go job searching ON THE BIKE.

Sure would appreciate it, if someone out there has the right rear exhaust heat shield or header for the quad exhaust found on the RS Boulevard. Mine took a short leap of a long bridge. New to the site and new to the RS. I have about one year with a 1999 Royal Star Boulevard originally with 5k miles and got it for $4k. Haus, lives outside under a cover and is my daily driver. I know the mufflers aren't stock but the headers are. The heat shield fell off on the Peterson Poker Run to Key West last month, made a nice shiny chromy splash. I would rather save the $300 the stealers are charging for an oem replacement. file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/andraded/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngfile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/andraded/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.png

This might be part of the reason my electric bill is so high ! I have a 25' flag pole in my yard and have a 500watt Mercury Vapor on a photo eye. Linda likes to plant flowers around the pole and the heat of the day along with the heat from the light all night make for quite a good growing environment. betcha can't guess where the photo eye is ??

I have noticed that when I stop at a light or a traffic jam, there is a tremendous amount of heat coming at my legs and drifting up. When I got back to the garage I left it running and looked around for the source. It seems that most of the heat comes from the 1.5 inches of exposed exhaust pipe from the back two cylinders. Does any one make a shield for this space? Rich

I just got back tonight after a 6 day 3260 mile ride to see the Grand Canyon and do a little Route 66 riding. As most of you probably already know...it has been HOT. Most days the temps on the trip were near 100 degrees or HIGHER. On Tuesday in Tucumcari...the temperature in the SHADE was 110 degrees. The day before we left Flagstaff at 6am and the temp was 38 degrees...by 1pm that afternoon we were in Needles, CA with the temp at 108 degrees. I got heat exhaustion twice...one time was pretty scary for me. Proper hydration is the key (and common sense)...I just assumed the hydration was for everyone but me. OK...enough about me. The bike performed flawlessly, had PLENTY of power for some of those mountainous climbs, and other than getting "squirelly" on some of the interstate roads in Oklahoma City (their ROADS SUCK!!!)...I was very happy with how the bike did. But I do have a complaint and also a question. The complaint (an age old complaint)...is the heat coming off the bike. To be honest I never really "noticed" until today and that's because after 3000 miles of wearing boots...I slipped on my dockers for the final 260 miles...and the heat was tremendous down there. But more than that, I also have a thermometer mounted near the turn signal switch and ALL DAY it read 110-120 degrees. No wonder I was getting heat exhaustion. Now the question...several times after riding for awhile when I was coming to a stop...the front would WOBBLE. When this happened the bike was barely moving...at highway speeds (and faster)...the bike was smooth as butter. So what could cause this VERY SLOW SPEED WOBBLE? OH...and the Flagstaff, AZ forest fires that are burning out of control...right behind (well a few miles)...our motel. THAT THING IS HUGE...smoke everywhere and we could see it from the Grand Canyon (80 miles away). Thanks. Wally

Here in God's Country ( TX ) where we can ride most of the year, what plug would be the best for this temperate zone,,,, I have in long years past went up in heat ( down in number I think it went ) and cant remember how that turned out,,,something to do with age I think I know the stock plug is DPR8EA-9 What about the 7EA-9

After a 10 hour Saturday at 4H rodeo, we have nothing planned for today. I wanted to go riding, but with 70% humidity and heat indexes over 100, I think we will just relax inside with a cold one.

I have always heard that the color white was cooler than any other color. Has anyone experienced the difference in a white helmet other than black or any other color helmet as far as heat is concerned. I'm just wondering if it is enought difference to notice.

Does anyone here have Geothermo? I've been reading up on it and visited with a guy at the local Homeshow today and he claims I can heat, air condition, and heat my water for between $600-$800 a year with Geothemo. Price would probably be 20 grand but there is a 30% tax credit and $2000 rebate from our utility company which takes 8 grand off the top. I'm getting close to needed to replace what I have - so it looks a bit attractive. The good news today was when they had the big drawing I didn't win the 42" TV - but I won a remote car starter and 100 Sq. Yards of free carpet cleaning.
