  1. I have owned this Venture for only about 10 months now and I love the bike. One thing I noticed was that my Honda Sabre was more fun to ride around town than the Venture but it was only a little quicker and more nimble Well I sold the Sabre and bought a CBR1100xx which I have been riding for about a month. A couple of days ago I pulled out the Venture to run it around a little because it had been setting. OMG!.....It was scary! It felt like a bus (a big yellow one). Now I don't need it to respond or handle like the Blackbird but it was a job just getting it to corner and stop. So: Is there some way to get the brakes to be more responsive? Is there some way to lower it an inch or two on both ends? Thanks; please don't flame me because I want more. Because I'm sure this bike will do more. And NO I don't want another bike. Rich
  2. Has anyone figured out how to use a bluetooth communications system (like the Cardo Scala G4) with more than 4 people. Like bluetoothing a fmr radio or something like that? I am working on converting a handle bar mounted CB like this. I was hopeing their was an eiser way. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55849
  3. What diameter is the handle bar on a second gen?
  4. I just purchase 1992 Venture Royale which has the cb that will not come on. The lights work but no number appear, and can not get any sound from the radio. It will not change channels with the unit or with the handle bar controls
  5. Installed Earl's clutch upgrade today and I wanted to give him a big THANKS; The parts arrived promptly and the installation went smoothly. There was more oil in the clutch cover than I expected. I recommend placing a Gen 1 on its side stand, not the center-stand. Not a big deal, I was going to change the oil and filter anyway. The upgraded clutch set-up needs a little more pull on the handle, but, my clutch no longer slips at full throttle, and the clutch action is more linear. My Beast runs hard now!
  6. Well I've had my 02 midnight almost a year now and just rolled over 10 k. today, had almost 7 k on it when I bought last year. I really like the bike, but with 2 up I'm still very intimidated by the weight and the awkwardness of the bike during low speeds when going through towns and making turns at intersections. I rode a friends ultra the other day and I must say I like the way it handled at low speeds in town. I know the venture is top heavy, but I just can't get comfortable and become one with the bike. Two weeks from now my wife and I are heading to Ocean City Md. for the bike week, actually going for the whole week for our vacation this year. I have considerd taking my 1500 classic instead as it's easy to handle around town, but will not be as comfortable as the venture will be. That's why I have the venture for longer trips. So my question, is there any suggestions on how to get the venture to handle any better? I've read that tire replacement helps, but I don't want to replace the originals just yet, maybe by next riding season. My wife's afraid at times I may drop up us,so far that hasn't happened, but it's in the back of my mind all the time:whistling:. Any help would be great, thanks..
  7. I am looking to up grade my stock handle bars to a set of Flanders. Probably will do the whole upgrade to the stainless steel lines. Who has the best price for this upgrade ? If there is someone close to where I live that has done this I would sure like to check it out. Steve
  8. Could you change my screen name. I would like to use my old cb handle. If it is possible, please change it to Buckshot Formally Old Venture 8
  9. Anyone have suggestion(s) for a decent handle bar mount for my iphone 3gs?
  10. Greetings All, Happy to have found a good online Venture club that I can converse with ! ! ! ! I'm a new owner of a 2006 Venture (one month). I`ve ridden other large bikes and my last bike was a Suzuki Indruder 1500. I really like the Venture but am still struggling with the new feel. Does anyone know of any articles that can suggest how to handle the bike. I stilll struggle with turns, turning the bike around, backing it up and a feeling that the bike is tippy when stopped. I realize that it is a large bike with more upper weight that I need to get used to. But any suggestions or articles would be helpful... Thanks Dutch
  11. Got my 08 V star yesterday, changing from 87 royale. Sure miss my center pegs. But I will get use to it. I am 5-9 and been told to set the handle bars back for more comfort. What is the best way risers or 2010 handle bars. Opinions will really help. Mike:think:
  12. This is how I de-linked my Gen 1 brakes (probably applies to MKI & MKII): I found a front brake coupler that almost fit the mount holes on the lower triple tree (Kawasaki GPZ1100). These holes were used to mount a plastic holder - pic 3. The mount holes needed to be slightly enlarged and longer screws added. A local shop made two braided brake lines for about $42 each. I also bought a handful of aluminum crush washers from him. I reused the original rubber hose for the left front caliper to route the front brake master to the coupler. This hose will be replaced with another braided line soon. It is too long and seems to be making the brakes a little spongy. At first I couldn't get any brakes when the lines were connected and fluid was added. I pumped fluid through the system from the top with the master and pulled fluid from the bottom with a neighbor's brake vacuum tool. A note from this forum suggested strapping the front brake handle overnight and that worked. I now had a little bit of brake action. I bled the system again and strapped it for about 36 hours. The front brakes were working, but, the brake handle would touch the throttle grip without an impressive amount of braking. This is when I found the plunger adjuster. Inside the front brake handle is a screw with locking nut. It adjusts the stroke of the master. I set it almost all the way in. I can now pull emergency stopping with two fingers on the brake handle and not pinch the other two fingers on the throttle. I am very pleased with the way the brakes now work on my VR.
  13. Before I switch from my 87 royale to this 07 1300 v star. what fix is there for the handle bars. new cables and breake lines.? Mike
  14. Hello all. New to the site so be kind. I'm looking to mount kuryakyn driving lights to the fender of my 06 venture. My question is will the electrical system handle the addition of two 35 watt bulbs ? I'm also looking to change the bulbs to yellow; unfortunately they only sell yellow H3 bulbs in 55 watts. Will the system handle the two 55 watt bulbs? The only additions to the system that I have are the OEM passing lights and a GPS, although I don't think the GPS is a major issue.
  15. Thought I would post a quick pic from todays M&E here on Ole Virginia...Duke picked I good spot...I'll leave the other pixs in Bobby's professional hands.. PS...Duke informed me today that the handle from when I first signed on the site "gharbourjr" needed to be changed.....He suggested that my 6' 6" height should be considered in the handle...Donna and I talked riding home.... Since I have a Bud here in Lynchburg calling me "LongTall"...We decided to go with that......What a great ride today and what a great group of folks... So...Freebird...If you read this...Please change handle to "LongTall" Link to Group Pix. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Ow2Jv3oh1erwE-8tt3x5pQ?feat=directlink LongTall formerly... 18. Im not sure of what the dark side is..LOL... but I used to be a Sport Bike rider, (canyons and track), until i got tired of the riding position of sport bikes and decided to switch to cruisers..lol....i still enjoy the thrill of canyon twisties and mountain riding, but i want to hear some experiences with people riding corners at certain speeds.... just about how much can a Royal Star handle on the twisties??.. i know its a heavy beast , but how does it handle??... what are some good tires for canyon riding on these babies?? thanks:pushups::pushups:
  19. going to add raisers to handle bars 11/2 in do i need to take off faring?
  20. I made a guage plate at work. Designed it at home using Cimatron E8.5 design software. Programmed it at work using WorkNc 17. I matched the contour of the dash and also the recess that was below the tape deck door. Came out pretty nice. I am going to polish it and probably have it anodized dark blue to match the Galaxy Blue of the bike. I am also adding a tach to the right handle bar. I have it designed, just waiting for a machine to open up to cut the housing and clamp. I will post pics as the project progresses.
  21. I know there was a thread on this in 08 but just wondering if anyone has diabetes, does it affect your riding, how do you handle it?
  22. I was wondering if anyone has lowered a first gen. I would like to get mine down 1"-1.5" all the way around. If you did it, how? and did it handle ok?
  23. Hi everyone I am looking for some advice and ideas. I would like to upgrade the sterio and speakers on my Venture. I have read some threads and I would like any or all opinions on what to do. I have XM and GPS mounted on the handle bar and hardwired. I would like any ideas you may have .Thank you very much. PS looking to do a lot changes this spring.
  24. Does any have a good way to mount a video camera that won't shake? I've mounted to handle bars and to fairing but can't get it smooth enough to watch.
  25. Is there any advantage, or disadvantage for that matter, to one over the other? I've been looking a little bit on the net and forums, but they don't go into any specifics. I'm assuming radials would handle better. Am I wrong? Or is it simply a matter of personal preference? Thanks, Bill
