  1. I took Blu out for a couple hours today and i almost feel human again. I was down to the last fuel bar and still had enough seafoam to cause a let of very smelly smoke. It took a bit to warm up but once it ran a bit, I took to the road. I rode it to the station and filled up. there was just a bit of flutter taking off but after a few min on the interstate, everything smoothed out and she was silk again. I had not ridden it since I had trouble with height and almost dumped it at a stop sign. After Yammer Dan and others helped me through the settings, I got a mud wasp nest out of the shock area and I could flat foot her. I decided to go play in the slow traffic and get used to it. I was amazed that I never had to put my feet down until I was totally stopped. She balanced very well even going really slow. I tried some tight turns. It was no effort to pull into a parking space in an empty lot pull through the spot and u back into the third spot with no problem. As much as I would like a RSV, I hope the guy does not come up with the money this weekend. Thanks for the help guys!
  2. As I have mentioned earlier, I am going thru a lifestyle change. On Nov 19, I weighed 242 pounds and this morning I weighed 207. In another 35 pounds I will weigh about what I will be comfortable with, even though it will still be above the gov/insurance recommendations. The best part is the change in my diabetes control. My A1C was about 11 then and now it is 6.6, which means I had an average sugar level between 250 and 300 and now it is much closer to 100. I have now dropped my insulin from 46 units a night to 15 while working with a doctor. The most amazing part about this is how easy it has been. The biggest change is simply stop eating all the sweet junk I was eating, and now I don't crave them at all. To be diabetic, I was really abusing myself with what I was eating and drinking. I am still eating about anything I want and really don't think of being on a diet, as I am not. Just eating slower, chewing my food and eating smaller portions. The key to eating smaller portions is to eat slow enough to get food into your system rather than eat faster and stuff yourself and still be hungry. It is also about how much better I feel when I finish a meal and not feel stuffed and have a bunch of indigestion. The main reason I am bringing this up is I want to encourage other's to consider what I am doing. I don't suggest going thru a divorce as I am doing to get you to start thinking about yourself, but in my case it has been a real refocus of my personal needs. I also want to encourage others that are type II diabetic or going to be to consider what you are doing to yourself. Diabetes has a bunch of related problems that comes with it. RandyA
  3. Leaving for the hospital. Our oldest granddaughter is in labor with her first child. This will be our 2nd great granchild...another boy. She went into labor at 2 am. Will keep you posted. Pat and Don PS. It makes us feel so old!!!
  4. ......... made you a better driver? After changing jobs last year and having my commute time doubled and having to cross the city each day I feel I'm more aware of traffic around me and try my best to be as courteous a driver as I can be. Paul
  5. Got off at 3PM today and ran home to go for a ride. Hit 40 today with the sun shining. The DC is finally seeing a little bit of a warm up. I only went out for an hour but boy did it feel good. Lots of salt and sand on the roads, at least along the sides so taking it easy is required in the turns but at least I was riding. Oh yeah, did I mention I got to ride today.
  6. From the Thursday a week before Thanksgiving until yesterday, I have lost 19 pounds. And, what is even better, before Thanksgiving I was taking 46 units of insulin and still having sugar level averages over 300 with an A1C reading of almost 12, with normal being about 6. I am now taking 18 units of insulin with morning readings of 90 to 115 and rarely getting up to 150 after a meal. I am now looking forward to my next A1C check, which is the long term test. I am not on a diet, but have made a lifestyle change. I have always been a sweet-a-holic and through the holidays I have not eaten any of the deserts that people have brought to work. I am now simply eating smaller portion sizes and I am chewing my food real good. In the past I would take a big mouthful, do a few chews and wash it all down with a big swallow of milk or Coke. Now when I get up from the table, I feel content and do not feel stuffed. When I eat out, as soon as my food is brought to the table, I will ask for a to go box and either take half or more home or to work to eat later. It was even very easy to turn down the big slice of pecan pie with ice cream yesterday because I simply did not desire any. I have also started doing some moderate exercises of deep knee bends, push ups and stomach crunches. I am also doing more walking.
  7. Sure would be nice if someone could build a wedge to fit between the top and bottom of the truck to give an extra 1 1/2 to 2" of clearence. Make it semi-permanent ,put a light or reflecter on it . Of course you would have to extend the truck latch. Whatcha think? I got a big helmet for my big head and I like to keep it locked up.It fits but not so good. Why can't the antennas be incorporated into some metal acessories that look good like bag gaurds or a truck rack? When I stay awake to long things sometimes make sense until I sleep on them. Feel free to shot em down . Idea men don't spell so good either , but I see we got alot of those here so I feel right at home and let em fly. We don't need no stinkin spellcheck.
  8. Hey guys, just to report in.. I got a can of BG44k the other day and dumped it in the fuel tank.. ran the bike for 145 miles and then parked the bike for a few days due to silly snow storm.. took the bike out today, filled it up with new fuel and took it out for a spin today. They say that it's with the fuel tank AFTER the mix that you feel and see the diff. Today, when I flashed up the bike, it sounded quite differently than any other time.. and wow, the ride was smooth, acceleration was more pronounced and you could feel less vibes throughout the throttle range.. Now I can't say much about the mileage on just two tanks of gas but I don't think it's improved any, really but wow, talk about a nice smooth engine on this bike. I think when spring time comes around and just after I do my next fuel filter change I'll pass another can through.. to clean it out from the winter riding and storage.. =)
  9. For the first time in a few months I actually rode a scoot. The back is almost 100%, and the weather was awesome. I needed a little welding done on the '91, so decided to ride it over to the welders. Not far but enough to get the feel of being on 2 wheels again.... WooHooo!!! Temps yesterday got into the 70's. I actually cracked a sweat working on the scoot in the afternoon...
  10. I just stumbled on this website when reading my noon news. I was surprised by how much the consumption of Saudia oil had dropped and how much the Canadian oil imports had increased. http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/import.html Brian BTW this wasnt intended to get anyone all inflamed about anything, just information. Moderators: if it goes south, please feel free to delete the post.
  11. I just got my seat back from Rick Butler... I have not been able to ride yet cuz of the flooding rain here in Oklahoma. But it sure LOOKS like an outstanding job. And just to sit on her in the garage has a real nice feel under the ol keester. I just wanted to publicly THANK YOU Rick for a great job... and also check this out... I sent it on Monday of this week and got it back on Friday... how's that for a quick turn-around??? AND... since Rick says I overpaid him (and who am I to disagree, right?) He'd be glad to send a set of his seat nuts that require no wrench to remove. JEEZ! I feel like I've just hit the lottery! Well maybe not the LOTTERY, but I AM a winner! Thanks again Rick for a super job!
  12. After removing the trunk I took my first good ride sunday on some good twisties! The C/T feels alot better than before. I didn't feel like I was drifting in the turns like before. I think the extra weight off of the bike made the tire more stable. I put over 5K miles on the tire with the trunk and couldn't get the feel but after one day without it I'm thinking of staying on the darkside with the star glide. http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/starglide001.jpg
  13. My son got his ship date. It's off to Afghanistan. Marine Infantry Div. He sure is fired up. Hard for me and mom to feel the same enthusiasm. These guy's are awesome. Please pray for their safe return. Thanks
  14. We didn't ride far, but it was nice with no vibration and first ride of any distance since Rick reworked my seat. We hit some fresh new blacktop and everything working together made it feel like we were floating instead of riding. Almost a religious experience.
  15. Just been thinking that I might also enjoy having a Trike Kit installed on my RSV and would apprediate some honest answers to a few questions that comes to mind. 1. What is the brand of yours? 2. Do you truly like and enjoy it? 3. Is there anything in particular that you dislike about it? 4. Do you feel in control at all times? 5. Do you feel any safer now than you did on 2 wheels? 6. Do you have that Proud feeling, like "Busting your Buttons"? Or just always smiling! 7. Is turning corners on city streets any problems? 8. Is it hard to steer at all? 9. How efficient are the rear brakes? 10. Have you ever tipped it up on 2 wheels? 11. Can you push it backwards fairly easy? 12. How much did it reduce your gas mileage? Man, that's a lot of questions! I hope that I'm not being too inquisitive and I thank you for the answers! Owen.
  16. there is going to be alot of thanks going around, and i want to put mine in. i would like to thank all the folks who attended. you all made my week. and i mean that from the bottom of my heart. you are such a great bunch. it was worth all the work just to see people have a great time. i also want to thank the great committee i put together. cindy, buddy, dooder1, colesgrampa, danob11, tom, gunboat, my good buddy's roadkill, and wrongway, and rosebud. brad, i want to thank you for the usual going out of your way help with your suggestions, and the drawing for the prizes. i want to thank don for trusting me to pull this thing off, even if he did call me trailer boy this morning, (he's the only one that can get away with that). :rotf:i would also like to thank patti from diamond r for all the neat things she came up with and taking the time to bring her products here. she is a real sweety, and cliff spears for being here with his products, and my buddy danob11's wife for displaying the neat jewelry she makes. i also want to put a plug in for randall and cindy who own the hub. they really busted their butts to make us feel at home and i can't thank them enough for the great job they did. we will be back. i want too thank gil fisher for getting the belt buckles for the st. jude raffle (we have a total of $431.00), which don is going to turn over to dragonrider for our run sept. 12. put that on your calender. finally there is one person that deserves special recognition. cindy, through thick and thin, took the planning for this meet head on and ran away with it. she made me feel like i did'nt do anything, in fact the rest of the committee made me feel that way. i just want to give her special thanks for taking on all the tasks she did and keeping me from looking stupid. if any one needs some names for a meet committee, get with me i have the cream of the crop. :clap2::clap2: snarley bill

  19. Awww man.. I got my carbs all synched up nicely.. took special care to do them up right and all.. I was heading out of town to get new E3s installed.. go figure.. a nice shop 2.5 hours away charges less for tires and installation that it's worth the while to go out there and have it done.. however, with our expensive gas, it comes out even after the gas price factor.. However.. Running the bike up to 75 mph in 4th gear everything is SO nice.. smooth, mirrors steady, no buzz, lots of guts.. but when I shift into 5th (OD), it feels all wrong.. I would best describe it as harsh helmet buffeting while driving over a rumble strip.. does that make sense? A heavy thumping sensation that goes away when I shift back into 4th and / or go 85 mph in 5th, though I can feel part of it.. I tested it out by synching the carbs again, shutting it off, starting it up again, blipping the throttle a little and even switching the lines so that the carbs would pump against a different pair of rods (in case one or two were sticking) but all certainly does appear rock solid.. But I can't figure out what's causing that weird feeling in 5th.. it's not lugging, not at those speeds... I started feeling it happening even before I synched up my cards.. but this time I was on a long road trip so I could really feel it.. Rode back mostly in 4th at 75-80 mph which didn't seem to hurt fuel economy too much considering the winds.. but very responsive =) Any thoughs or ideas? BTW, them E3's are sweeeeet!!
  20. After installing the Kumho using about 110 PSI and ride around 3000 miles and towing a trailer about 2000 miles I have decided to go back to the M/C tire. Pros of the c/t... Longer wear.... Better braking... improved low speed handling... better acceleration Cons... After trying different PSI from as low as 30 and as high as 44 i find it unstable at speed... it wants to follow every groove in the pavement.... I get a wiggle at speeds over 75 running empty and its worse when towing. High speed corners feel strange... it tips over well... but I feel like it Waggles thru the corner. I really wanted the c/t to work. it cost 1/2 as much and last twice as long... its a no brainer. But I just can't get it to work for me. I have ordered a set of Shinko Touring tires ... Front and Rear tires delivered for $129.00. I will report back after they are installed. Thanks to all for your views and info on the C/T and if its working for you that AWESOME....It just wasn't for me.
  21. To be back on a Motorcycle:dancefool::dancefool:
  22. I feel so special. Someone has bestowed a member award upon me. I guess it just goes to show if you whine about not having any enough someone will take pity on you. Thank you, I feel so fullfilled!
  23. Looks like it's brake pad change time coming up soon in the front.. most likely in the rear as well.. Instead of the Yamaha pads.. what's the general consensus on the EBC Double-H Sintered Brake Pads? Do people feel they perform better? Last any longer? Thanks in advance.. Cheers
  24. OK... I ordered a Garmin 2720 Last night along with the Ram mount and the Motorcycle mount kit. My Next question is... MUSIC... What is the best and most reasonable cost for a music storage device? MP3... I POD... Etc. I know Nothing about these devices... so please feel free to educate me as well. Last question... Once i have all these in my hands .... Will I need anything special to make it all work on the RSV. Thank you Reaney in NH
  25. Had my follow-up appointment this morning with the surgeon that worked on my knee, and found out I get to spend five more "lovely" weeks in a full-leg brace and no weight bearing. I've only survived one so far... I don't know how I'm going to do it. To anyone else out there not able to ride, I feel your pain.
