  1. Since the wife wanted something DIFFERENT for our 25th I waited to the last minute(nothing new) and had her follow me to drop off truck at repair shop and took me to bike shop in town(called ahead to get them to go along) to pick-up a part. Before we left home she informed me that she will probably be laid-off in Dec. so DON'T spend any money??????????????OOPS!!! So my old helmet box was brought out for her and of course she thought it was a new helmet. Had to remind her after she thanked me (boys thought she would cry) that we had to take it BACK because she and I would be laid-off for a few months---bet you guessed what her answer was!!! Then she told me that she didn't buy me anything because we didn't have any extra money after redoing renovation on livingroom so I just figured OK maybe later. Nope !!! Waited untill Sat, and boys took us to Brantford for supper and after desert wife went to go to ladiesroom and got down on her knee and handed a box to me(rather fast so noone would see her) and asked me to remary her----I said no but reconsidered really fast before I got hit. Rest of the night went really well as there was asupprise party waiting. All in all it was great and ready for another 25.
  2. well i have completed my winter project four years in the making. built a v-twin powered prototype cushman eagle for a machinist friend of mine, with a one off fourspeed transmission that we designed and built from scratch. the whole scooter is hand made and i built it from scratch. he is now manufacturing these transmissions and primary drivetrains. i put my all in this project, and when the day came to start it up and ride it i was really apprehensive. well, i took it for a test ride down my street and it actually worked and shifted great. very fast. it has a briggs vanguard 630 cc v-twin which i built with dual mikuni's. j&e pistons ported with a reground cam. very fast will top 100 mph . you can see a picture of it at http://www.reisstoolandmachine.com anyway looking for a new project for this winter. any ideas. had a vakyrie pass me yesterday on the highway and i had this brainstorm that i have never seen an 1800 gold wing cuiser. maybe i could find a salvage one for a start. i think it would look cool and different. got a few things to wrap up on my zx14 but that should'nt take long. just digging for ideas. bill
  3. http://rideohiomc1.proboards82.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=destinations&thread=1042&page=1 Ok I have been having some trouble getting more than one picture at a time on here, it is on my end I know but I thought I would still share a ride so I used another site.I look at my old 1100 with it's Craig Vetter Windjammer fairing and at the early Venture and I can see a bit of that sport touring in each..the bikes have that"Lets go" look about them.Sorta taunting at ya..."Why Did We Stop?" look. As I have been lurking around this site, you have a fast paced, interesting board with some very good information.....and a few different brand riders also join in..nice..adds a little different perspective to the ride when all are not locked into the same mind set. Ride safe, Bill
  4. i am changing my oil for the first time and i thought i had the right tools (wrong) i cant get my oil filter to tighten up what type of wrench do i need? in the mean while my oil is leaking in to a rag because i get get it tight need help fast please and thank you!!!
  5. Hello to all, been a while since I've been on here. My venture started bad this year, the floats were stuck, so i took the carbs off to clean. Did a tune up and synced carbs. But just an oddity, when I set the choke to full, the bike doesn't seem to bring the rpm's up as fast as it use to, it does run a little rough when cruising. I may try to sync the carbs again, but any suggestions? Thanks guys!!!
  6. I went to the Maple Grove Speedway NHRA nationals on Saturday and it was awesome. First time for me and I'm glad that I brought ear plugs. I cannot get over how fast and loud they are. Television just does not give it any justice. 300MPH in the 1/8 mile in under 4 seconds, that's fast. It is unbelievable as to how much money sponsors pay for these guys. John Force (Castrol) was there (what a blow hard) and he had five (5) tractor trailers there, two of which looked like living quarters, one for selling apparel, and the other three were for his cars. I realize what all he has done for the drag racing scene and he is one of the best, but when he opens that big trap of his, it just goes right through me. His daughter was racing too and she really good too; in fact she was ahead of him when qualifying. I would have liked to have gone up on Sunday for the finals, but was unable to. Anyway, I saw a 2000 millennium in the free parking area. Was that anyone here?
  7. Nothing on Ebay for an 84. I need to tune up the baron a little. There's a new scoot in town fast to.
  8. A few weeks ago I replaced the stock horns on the VR with air horns. Today a guy started to swerve into my lane when he got stuck behind a stopping truck. A blast from the pair of 118db horns sent him back in a hurry, he almost rolled he jerked back so fast. Then he sat there for a long time before changing lanes. I think he may have actually soiled himself:)
  9. Could happen to anybody. Especially around here. Another reason I don't ride at night. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNO88yqCr5I&NR=1]YouTube - fast crash into deer[/ame]
  10. got my speed-o-healer on today --works great and very easy job. now my bike isn't as fast as I though it was. it will still go faster than I care to ride.
  11. Just want to share this experiece with all. Coming home from work yesterday, I had an "Oh S**t!" moment. When I turned onto the freeway entrance ramp, I thought to myself, "Looks a little bit greasy." Next thing I know, I feel the rear tire sliding out as I am leaning. Out of natural reaction, without even thinking, I put my left foot out to catch myself. LUCKILY I was only going about 20mph, although it was still fast enough to kick my foot back at me. Fortunately, it was enough to keep me upright and uninjured. Going down would have been bad enough, but the moron in his pickup behind me was pretty close.
  12. Well...I went out this morning to ride to work...get on the mike thinking that it needs to be washed (to busy riding) and as I am getting ready to fire her up....I feel something give and over she goes...a controlled decent! My kickstand broke! Both the bolt and the kickstand itself! What miserable thing to happen at the being in the day!!! So now I am on a hunt for a kickstand...anyone got one that will look good on a fast, red 84???
  13. Hey Guys/Gals: Thought I would post this so if any one else has this problem I might help. Purchased from Custom Dynamics LED boards to replace both the front and rear turn signals on an 05 RSV. Also purchased a 4 amp load equalizer from them as well (turned out to be a Kuryakyn 4807 load equalizer). Changed out the bulbs on the left side placed the load equalizer on the rear harness, turned on the key to "ON" and the blink rate was fast, went to the local shop and got a 2 amp and wired it in to the front harness. Still no change in the blink rate. Wrote to Kuryakyn for help. Since the fairing was split and the seat off I decided to move the bike to the side of my garage. Started the bike up and for the "hell of it" hit the directional signal switch, damn if they didn't blink at the normal rate. Go figure!!!!!!! So if any of you have replaced your lights with LED's and fine the blink rate fast added a load equalizer and it is still fast, kick the bike over, they may slow down. Figured I would give you this piece of advice so others will not have go through the same thing as I did. BTW 116 & 1157 have a 2amp draw, so a 2amp load equalizer on both harnesses should do the trick. Sponge Bob Tucson AZ It's a dry heat.
  14. (04 Mid-Night Venture) I road to work yesterday and noticed the left turn signal was blinking fast. Got to work and looked at the front and rear bulbs as they were blinking. Both lights were blinking but at a fast pace. The right turn was normal. On the way home from work I noticed the right side started blinking fast also. I got home and checked out the right side and it had gone back to normal but left side is still blinking fast. What do you think? Ground wire?
  15. Hey Guys: Has anyone installed the right angle LED's offered by Superbright? Both 1156 & 1157 in Amber with the stock lenses? If so do they work well and how fast is the blink rate? I have seen some rockets with leds and they are blinking like a strobe. Don't mind if they speed up a bit, but think they loose their effectiveness when they are blinking that fast. Is it like double time when a bulb burns out or slower than that? Sponge Bob Tucson AZ It's a dry heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. these M & E are killing me can't make them all, neather bike is fast enough
  17. We don't need this crap but the hospitals and schools are full of it. Grandkids are down with it and our Son came down with it this morning. Doctors are not giving much medication saying it needs to run it's course. Some of my neighbors have been bed fast for six days. Ramona and I are doing fine but the deck is stacked against us.
  18. Fast and efficient... who wants one?? http://gizmodo.com/346802/340mph-acabion-gtbo-motorcycle-now-in-production
  19. Not a bad buy it now price. Several miles left in this one.No I don't need it because my 84 is just like it. The Red ones are fast. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-yamaha-venture-jya41v000ea002050_W0QQitemZ260178226096QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260178226096

Good, fast and cheap. Pick any two; you can't have all three. Unless you own a first Gen.

    How fast is the RSV?

I have been wondering for quite a while, just how fast is the RSV? I know my 99 RSV is very quick, and it does not have any wind out time to speak of to reach 100 mph. But I am not too crazy about traffic tickets, so I don't reach that kind of speed very often. But still, I am curious, has anyone really seen just how fast the RSV will go?
  22. I’ve never had a flat tire while driving and was wondering from those of you who have, how did the bike handled? Front, rear, did you loose all the air, how fast you were going, stopping, that sort of thing. Hopefully it will only be something that I read about!
  23. I know that the 2nd Gen people can't understand this:stirthepot:, but I was going so fast last night that the left side vent grill blew off!!!! I looked for it on the highway today, but no luck...I did find some black plastic pieces that may have been it!!! I checked on ebay and didn't see one...anyone have one on a parts bike they are willing to sell? I hate looking at the empty hole!
  24. I ordered an Avon rear tire on 4/25/07 and I received it TODAY, 4/27/07. I ordered it from www.ridenow.com. I think that is very fast service as I was expecting 5-7 days. Also, I shopped several websites for the best price and their price was $110.17 plus tax & shipping. Total $127.01. Just thought you might like to know!!!
  25. Denim goes away in mere feet if you go sliding. Jeans just aren't much protection. Competition Accessories and Fast Company make kevlar lined jeans. The Competition Accessories' Sliders jeans are cut somwhat baggy. Not really a traditional jeans cut. http://www.competitionaccessories.com/category.cfm?Category=2021 Fast Company make Draggin Jeans. These have a more traditional jeans cut but seem to run a little small. http://www.dragginjeans.com/Jeans.htm Fast Company also make Draggin' Shirts. These are woven mesh long sleeved kevlar shirts. They have velcro at the wrists to allow a snug fit when adjusted. http://www.dragginjeans.com/Accessories.htm
