  1. Merry Christmas to all here. Hope that each and everyone has the best Christmas that their situation allows. Remember the "Reason for the Season". Don and Linda
  2. Maybe! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbvOmqfK2Y8&feature=related]YouTube - best idiot of the world[/ame]
  3. I've tried the Pioneer speakers and now have the Polk speakers in the front but I'm still not happy with the sound. Now I'm thinking about trying to fit a pair of 4 x 6 speakers in the front. Assuming that I can make them work, how much improvement will they be over the stock 4" round speakers? Don
  4. Hey All, I just recieved a phone call from Tweetie Bird and there is a bit of a snag Don just found out that his work has him sceduled for some sort of corporate meeting on the weekend that is planned for Maintenance day. He just found this out today during his trip to Minnesota that he's on right now. I know it's a bit of a PITA but we will be having Maintenance day the following weekend, which is June 6th. Fortunately it's still 7 months away and I dont think there will be any serious issues besides perhaps Jonah on his travels here to the USA. We will be getting with the Oberlin inn and working on getting it all moved around there. Don will fill in some of the blanks when he comes back home, but Maintenance day will just move forward 1 week. Don is extremely apologetic with all this, but I dont see any real big issues beside a bit of phone calls to straited rooms out. He and I appreciate your understanding and if you have any questions feel free to send them to me. Don will only be on sporatically due to his workload this week....Thanks as always.
  5. Ok seeing as how we are going to do Maintenance day again at Freebirds house lets all bring 2 red bricks per person so we can surround the pond.In doing so it may help save Don money and time repairing the damaged yard equipment.I figure in the next 3 years we should be able to have enough bricks to put up a 3 foot high wall all the way around the pond. One other advantage to building a wall is that it will keep the Pond Monsters in the pond and not out on the road riding. Jeff
  6. Need the right side dash vent for a '93. Mine dissapeared somehow. Don H.
  7. Hey Freebird. Went down to my airline company to change the dates on my flight tickets for the Maintenance Day. Turned out that changing the dates was not a big issue with paying a small fee but the thing was that I could not get a flight back home from the US after nine days like in my earlier booking. Have to stay for twelve days. And what does that mean Don ? More riding time Don - More riding time ! Don you are a genius Now I only have to pick the right time to tell the Warden
  8. Just want to let everyone know that I have decided to retire my old screen name. So, this is the new me. Don said I would need to tell everyone why. But then he said I couldn't. I'm just so confused....
  9. Finished up my chemo treatments yesterday!!! Now just have to finish up the radiation which will be on Tuesday of next week. Then will be done!!!!:big-grin-emoticon::dancefool: Don H.
  10. The last 2 times I have been on bike and had the radio on, it would drop to 89.7 FM from 107.5 FM by itself. Cannot be able to use preset to get back to 107.5. When I hit preset, it goes to 107.9, then have to use step down button to get back to 107.5. Early this summer took connections apart on sound system, used eletric spray cleaner and then put dieletric grease on all connections. Haven't had any problems up until now. Any ideas?? Don H.
  11. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for me. Sometimes its the little things that can overwelm you and nock you to the ground. I thank everyone for their concern and with to thank Don for bringing all together. You a great bunch of misfits and I love you all!! Your brother, kenw
  12. Took off for Houston on Friday. Spent a wonderful time on I-10 waiting for a semi to clear a bridge. Seems he was a bit too wide for the rails!! They had to jack the load up over the rails. Got to town and had a visit with TxVenture (Don H.) Went to Gunboats and had home-cooked beans and cornbread. Dang was that 17 bean good! Left the next morning for Rusk to meet with Masterguns and Mavrik. Beautiful ride up, started at 69 degrees and went to about 80 by noon. From Rusk the 4 of us took off for Lake O' the Pines. Great ride up. Did have a bit of fun with the dreaded death wobble!!I was in the lead and went around a semi at slightly (Ahem- about 110mph) above posted speeds. As I cut back in ol' Mocha proceeded to tank slap. Bars moving about 6-8 inches and the whole bike dancing like a drunken hip-hopper. Gunboat said he just backed off and started flashing his brakes to give me room if I went down. What a buddy! I got her back straight and we went on. At the next stop sign I pulled the entire seat cover out of my cheeks and put it back on. I then worked the bike through a couple more runs and speed changes at the same gears and speeds. No problems. Guess I will check the front end again. Gunboat can tell you about the bird's-eye view. We got to L.O.P. and loved the area. Hated the accomodations. Sparse and no places to eat. Actually checked in the had supper and cancelled the rooms. Did have a good catfish dinner in a 10 seat cafe. Left for Athens to arrive about 9pm. Masterguns cut off at I-20 and headed for home. We had a good sleep and checked the area. Mavrik served as our tour guide. Perfect place for the Stampede. Even a Yamaha dealer in town. (Go get-em Mavrik). Headed for Houston at noon on Sunday. Lost the R.H. saddle bag lid on the bottom of town. Found it battle scarred in the center median (thanks Don). I split at I-45 and SR 79. Got home at 6pm last night. Miles - Me 1200 total Gunboat and I on Sat. - 500 A special thanks to my riding buddies. Don C. (Gunboat), Herb (Masterguns), and Mike (Mavrik). It was a pleasure to have ya'll on board. I couldn't have done it without you. The bark of 2 sets of Bub's and the hum of 2 1st Gens. can't be beat. By the way Herb, beautiful maroon 1st Gen. And, I do have a spare lid in the garage. So, bike back to original by 7pm. on Sunday. JB
  13. Received the venturerider mugs today and they are great. Thanks Don.
  14. got a call from "Txventure, don h.", this afternoon. i was ringing wet with "sweat", from trying t catch up on my yard work. started raining, so i went to the shed to "tinker" with my '86. phone rang,: don says "i'm calling from the DAIRY QUEEN, in Katy!" i really felt good today, so Linda and i went for a RIDE!!!!!! first one since MAY. also told me that as of Sept. 1, he will be starting Chemo and radiation, five days a week, for 7 weeks!!! all of his tumors, are starting to shrink, and MOST are now inactive, according to a C.a.t. scan, done this past week! prayers are powerful! just jt
  15. This is not motorcycle related, but thought I would post it as a friendly reminder that the roads are fully of crazies. This message was waiting for me when I got home this evening. SA Don Pettit, was killed this morning in Pembroke Pines , FL. Don, who is a Special Agent with the Customs and Border Protection, was off duty and driving his 12 year old daughter to camp.Preliminary investigation indicates Don became involved in an altercation with another driver. Both cars pulled into a Post Office Parking lot and the other driver pulled a handgun and shot Don in the head. The round entered just above Don's right eye and exited the rear of his head. Don was wearing his CBP badge on his belt and was armed, but is not believed to have drawn his firearm. Don was pronounced dead about 12:00 noon at Memorial Regional Hospital . The shooter fled the scene and a massive search is underway. The shooting is being investigated by the Pembroke Pines , FL Police Department, the FBI, Customs and Border Protection and FDA Office of Criminal Investigations. Unfortunately I don't have any additional information about this yet, but I have known Don for a long time. Never knew him to be a hot head or someone that would go out of his way to look for trouble. Also, lets not turn this into a rant about the right to bear arms.
  16. Have any of you ever used http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com ? We have an opportunity to add them as a supplier where our members would receive discounts. I would also have to provide a link back to them. I'm always looking for opportunities for our members but only if the company has a good reputation for service and prices. Any feedback would be appreciated. Don
  17. well folks it's been a while since I have been on here. Had a bout of pneumonia and was in hospital for 3 days. Go Tue. for second round of chemo. Just ask for prayers for strength. Also go back to work tomorrow, probably half day. Just glad to be back here. Don H.

  19. Ok folks, just got home from having my first chemo treatment. Feeling fine at the moment just don't know what the future holds other than planning on going back to work until someone tells me different. Maineac, sure wish I could get together with you while you are in town, but don't think I can right now. Just wanted to let y'all know I'm still kicking. Don H.
  20. First I would like to thank Don and Eilene for hosting this wonderful event and for all the hospitality that they have shown me while I was a guest there. Oh yea, Dylan too. He did a great job of burning that annoying CD:rotf:. It was my first and it was great to meet all of you. Don, thank you for facilitating the SSP portion of MD also. That being said, I would also like to thank ALL of the participants who over the last 5 months supported us in making the Secret Squirrel Project a reality. whether you contributed money, time, talents or just well wishes, believe me, it was all very much appreciated. I just cant say enough about how much you all have helped us with this endeavor. Im not going to mention names...you all know who you are. Thank you all. On a more personal note: Brad and Lonna....im at a loss for words. You two are the real deal. Anytime, brother.... OK, so I didnt take pics. Bobbie and others will fill in the blanks soon. Hope to see you all sometime in the future.
