  2. Does anybody have an 05 to 08 RSTD Stock Solo Seat they want to sell ?? I need one to send to " Russell " for conversion to a " Russell Day Long " Thanks ( 425 466 4094 )
  3. I had a loaner bike this week a 2008 star raider and let me say this is a great looking bike but thats where the compliments from me end. My girl and i had it for a day and a half and only rode it for 2 hours cause that bike is torture on a old spoiled man like myself. If i was 20 yrs younger I would have been all over it but that day is gone, the forward controls are way too forward feels like i was hanging on a jungle jim and the feet were in a birthing stirrups..lol any way with the girl complaing of a sore butt and my shoulders screaming we parked it and waited for our beloved venture to be finished at the shop. I love that bike "venture".
  4. I'll be riding Western Colorado a bit over Labor Day Weekend! I'll leave Orem, Ut. Saturday morning, Provo Canyon to Heber, East through Wolfe Creek Pass and on to Vernal Utah where I'll meet up with a new friend & his wife, and we'll ride all the way around Flaming Gorge. I'll stay with them that night. Sunday morning I'll ride Dinosaur National Monument, Co., and then to Rangely, Co., where my uncle lives. I'll go to church with them, spend the rest of the day with them, and spend that night with them. Monday I'll ride South on 139 Lost Highway, Douglas Pass, & down to (through) Colorado National Monument (Past Fruita), through Grand Junction, SouthEast & then South on 65 through Mesa & to Cedaredge, U-turn back to I-70 East, North at Rifle up 13, & West on 64 near Meeker back to Rangely for the night. Tuesday I'll head back West through Vernal and go SouthWest at Duchesne through Indian Canyon to Helper, North West on Highway 6 through Soldiers Summit and on back home through Spanish Fork Canyon. I figure a little over 1100 ride miles. If anyone out there is interested in meeting up or riding part of the ride with me, email me at dougnrdn@gmail.com. Doug Nordin
  5. Well I completed the adjustments on both bikes (thanks Earl aka Skydoc_17 for shim kit, tool and great price on gaskets). Both bikes had never been done and both had 40K on them one bike took four shims and the other eight. It sure made a big difference in the engine noise and a noticeable increase in performance. I followed the procedure in the tech library and picked Earl's brain some. The whole procedure took a whole day on the first bike and most of a day on the second the procedure it self was a snap however it requires a lot of patience and time. If anyone around me wants to do this I am more than willing to help now that I have done it, just get the stuff you need and give me a shout. By the way $12 saved me at least $400
  6. http://email.doeanderson.com/triumph/images/triumph-vintage-fest-header.jpg Anyone else thinking about going? I'll try to make a 1 day.
  7. It's a commin, Nascar on Da River, labor day weekend Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. We are about 1 hr south of Chicago very close to I57 and Rt17. This is a noisy weekend of Boat Races, bands and activities. We are on the river where a turn is , next to the start & pits. Room in the yard for campers . . . If you do come in, we are past the last Barricade, tell security you are coming to my house. . . Here is a link for the River Road side http://www.kankakeeregatta.com/

  10. Was doing a carb sync last night getting ready for a day ride tomorrow and four day trip beginning next Thursday. Normally I can get the sync done quickly, but this time the motor ran a little bit longer than ususal and the "FAN" kicked on. I am sure it's been on before but never paid much attention. This time however there was a "Loud Rattleing' sound like something was loose or had fallen into the area of the FAN and was caught there. Is there an easy way to check this without tearing down the whole front, end. Lowers, Seat, Tank, etc. Of course I turned it off for about 5 minutes, Made sure oil and coolant were OK and started back up. Runs GREAT but of course this time the FAN did not cycle on? Thoughts Long Tall Lynchburg, VA
  11. Did 400+ miles in 14 hours yesterday in just picture perfect weather, and hit some of the best GA-NC-TN roads you'll ever ride in a day. Starting from the 'burbs in Marietta, we did back roads to Dahlonega, northeast up over Blood Mountain to Brasstown Bald, up to Hawassee, then lunch in Murphy NC. Shopped a little at Cherokee Cycle, then up to Rt. 28 (Hellbender 28) along the Nantahala River to Deals Gap. A little more shopping, then rode The Dragon up and back again, then down to Robbinsville, then west on the Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plains, south on Rt. 68 to Blue Ridge, and then home. What a great day, but I'm feeling it a little today. The RSV did awesome in the thousands of twisties we hit all day. I never even had to get out of 2nd gear on the Dragon, and it just glided in and out of the 318 turns it throws at you in 11 miles. This is where you really appreciate the leveling link mod the most. And the Cherohala is just a fabulous ride all by itself. Gonna do that one again next month. Worth the trip from anywhere.

  13. Never heard of the Hocking hills before but 12 hours later the wife and I had a cabin rented for the night and saddled up and headed out. Two highschool kids were on a mission trip in the dominican republic and the youngest at young teen camp. We took 52 south out of Chelsea, MI into OH 109 to Lima. From there we headed east and picked up 56. What a great drive. We took a pit stop about an hour from our destination and realized a strong storm was trailing us. We arrived at the cabin around 4:30 thinking the storm might pass through for us to go out for dinner. Not so. Wind, hail, rain well into the night. I managed to kick back on the covered deck in the hot tub and watch the strom roll through. Good thing for the coffee we found to brew up for dinner! The next day we spent meandering through the hills and state park with several miles of hiking. What a great day. The evening closed in a torrential downpour on I-75 heading towards Toledo. We found a car to follow and watched their tail lights for 45 minutes. The rain finally ended around Toledo and we managed to dry out a bit by home. Check out the hocking hills. A great ride. Larry
  14. Yesterday was a real nice day. When I got home from work I was asked why I was so late, My answer was that the bike needed gas, even though I bought gas the day before. So then there were some letters that had to be postmarked that day so I jumped on the bike for the 1 mile trip to the post office. 3 hours later I got home.......... The house was dark, the boss had gone to bed already. For some reason I needed gas again on the way in to work today......... I don't know how that happens....... I was still getting dirty looks this morning as I was getting ready for work. But I feel so much better. I might just need more gas to get home today........
  15. Happy Birthday Gil! Hope you have a great day. :Happy Birthday:
  16. While I have learned a ton of great information about my bike in this website it is the friendships that have come to mean the most to me. I have been needing to get out and spend a whole day of just riding and TDunc who I meet here and have become good friends with needed to do the same. It was great to get together and just spend the day riding. He shared with me some great roads he knew and I shared with him some great roads I knew. We left at about 10am and got back about 11pm. Both of our mental health situations have received a great dose of fixin. How truly special it is to be able to develop so many great friendships and share such joyful experiences doing something we all dearly enjoy doing so much. Thanks VentureRider.Org family. 17. Yesterday I fired the VR to go to my DOT physical. She settled into an idle at about 1200 rpm when the norm has been more like 800 or 900. Later that day, after say 100 miles of running errands (I may have taken the long way, all day) it now seems to smell very rich, real gassy. As in gasoline, not gassy like me after Mexican food. And it may have a slight stumble on one cylinder. It ran fine when I shut it off the previous time it ran. I ran it Sunday, went to work Monday till Wednesday night and got on her Thursday morning. It just sat in the shed from the time it ran fine till it now runs differently. And not in a good way. I had the carbs cleaned and tuned after I bought it. I run ethanol treatment religiously and have sea foamed it regularly. Any suggestions? Maybe the diaphragms or one of them, went bad?
  18. Holy Hell Bro 106 years old ....you dont look a day over 70! :banana:Have a Great Birthday my Friend!!!
  19. In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for footy matches, going to the beach And BBQ's He created night for going prawning, sleeping. And BBQ's, and God saw that it was good. On theSecond Day, God created water - for surfing, swimming and BBQ's on the beach ,and God saw that it was good. On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants to provide malt and yeast for beer and wood for BBQs, and God saw that it was good. On the Fourth Day God created animals and crustaceans for chops, sausages, steak and prawns for BBQ's, And God saw that it was good. On the Fifth day God created a Bloke - to go to the footy, enjoy the beach, drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at BBQ's, and God saw that it was good. On the Sixth Day God saw that the Bloke was lonely and needed someone to go to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the Barbie with .. So God created Mates, and God saw that they were good Blokes, and God saw that it was good. On the Seventh Day God looked around at the twinkling Barbie fires, heard the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the Blokes. He smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns and God Saw that it was good ... ... Well ... Almost good. He saw that the Blokes were too tired to clean up and needed a rest. So God created Sheilas - to clean the house, to bear children, to wash, To cook and to clean the Barbie, and then God saw that it was not just good. It was better than that, it was.......... Bloody Awesome! IT WAS AUSTRALIA !!!!!
  20. Spent the day on the range requalifying with the glock......good for another year....only 4 more years to go then ...30 years is a long long time....
  21. While on cycle trip, my mic mute is acting up. One day it works...the next it doesn't. When it does work, then it's been good for the day. when not working, neither ptt button has any affect...the mic is always live. I checked all connections under seat but don't have tools or desire to split fairing while on the road. Anyone ever had weird problem witn them before?
  22. To HALRSV99 & MikeZ06Allen, I hope you fellas have a great day!!!
  23. I am GLAD that this day is over. I got up at 4:00 a.m. this morning to take the boat out on Lake Erie for a few relaxing hours of yellow perch fishing. They really were NOT biting. Temps got up to about 96 F and me and my buddy John cooked in the sun for about 6 hours and only caught about 15 fish. Got home and cleaned up because Eileen and I were going to a friends house for a little get together. She asked us to bring our Ipod because it has some good music on it. Got there and the Ipod locked up right off. Wouldn't power off or do anything. So....it was down for the night. Headed home and around midnight, hit a good sized deer in my new to me Chevy Avalanche. Took out the grill and messed up the right front fender a bit. Will look at it closer tomorrow but I guess it could have been worse. At least we weren't on the bike. Got home around 12:30. Eileen had taken her little YAP YAP Sheltie with us. Got home and she took off across the yard barking and our larger dog running along right behind her to see what all the fuss was about. That ended up with BOTH of them getting sprayed by a skunk. So...we have been outside until 1:00 in the morning washing two mutts. I'm going to bet now. I hope the bed doesn't fall down.
  24. Wife and I planned a trip from Northern Delaware to Western North Carolina. We just returned via the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. We had a wonderful time thanks to this site. We have been reading about seats for many months and slurged for the Russell Day Long based on remarks from all of you. Initially, I did sit about 1" higher and the wings were a bit of a pain. However, within the 500 mile break in period all was good. I am again flat footed when stopped (I have a 29" inseam) and the wings have broken in a bit making stops no problem. Wife was complaint free relative to butt issues on our trip, and so was I. Thanks for all of your great information. Here are some seat pics.
  25. Wishing a belated Happy Canada Day to all my brother and sister Canucks!!
