  1. Just wondering how or if you all manage to get your bike on the lift by yourself. I had my daughter to help me as I road the bike up on the lift. I first set two milk crates beside the lift, one on each side, then road up and used these to set my feet upon when I stopped. Then my daughter tightened the clamp on the front tire and also helped get the paint can and short piece 2x4 under my side stand. Surely, or is there a better way, and maybe a safer way of doing this by myself ???? The lift is from Harbor Freight item number 91764, the red one. :confused24: Fuzzy

    im back

well the oldgoats back ite been a hectic few days up in Brainerd MN. the wedding of my daughter Amber to her husband Justin was great. but like most weddings it rained. then right after the sun came out for the reception. of course a church made for 200 pepole was over packed and hot as he$$. no one passed out. i got along with the step dad as we both walked her down the isle. sometimes old wounds must be coverd up for the child. my daughter and I danced to the song i held her first. and of course i cried. and of course i forgot my camera but will be getting a picture album from her and my son-in-law. im verry proud of this young man he fought a heart transplant and all kinds of medical problems and came out of a coma to keep his promise to be with Amber. she was by his side day and night. now there together for life. there off now on there honeymoon up in Dulth MN to start on my future grandkids.
  3. So, Tom called me from work and said the battery on the 86 Royale was dead. He claims he didn't leave the key in it or on, that he locks the forks. So, I have some questions, does this bike have an alternator or the equiv? Where is the battery? I don't want to start taking body panels off to find it and I have not found battery location in the manual yet (searching on the computer is tedious). I'll be getting his bike a battery tender, as he uses the radio every time he rides and if the BRAND NEW battery isn't holding up there is either something draining it slowly or it isn't charging when he rides. Thanks! PS, my 16 year old daughter just completed an MSF course this weekend. The instructor said she is the most aggressive girl he has ever taught. She did very well, passed, and I didn't even have heart palpitations watching her! Which is big for me.
  4. http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF7068.jpg My neighbors had to get there HD trikes out. Nice looking bikes, my daughter loves them. Thought I would share.Shaun
  5. I already have a room reserved at the Comfort/Quality Inn for the 3rd and 4th. My Daughter will not be coming with me now so if anyone wants to share the room and cost let me know...Karl
  6. Thank goodness their injuries at this point do not appear to be life threatening. Details are sparse, but Buck and Nikki flipped their GW trike, yesterday. From what the daughter told me she was driving and went into a curve, somewhere around Hattiesburg, MS, too fast. The trike got up on two wheels and I guess it was "downhill" from there! Both have multiple broken ribs, bumps and bruises. He is not as serious as she, but both are in intensive care at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. They both told the daughter they would be back on the bike, although, because of some of the road rash, Nikki told the daughter, "never again without a full face helmet!" They were both wearing 3/4. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!!!
  7. Here is a website my daughter and I like to share with people. Enjoy http://www.dhmo.org/
  8. Got home early today and my daughter wanted to go for a ride, not 20 mins into the ride a car stopped real quick and smack. My fault and I got a ticket for going too fast for conditions. Not a scratch on the car I hit. My daughter hit her knee and elbow when the bike fell over. What I learned. 1. Thank God for steel toe boots otherwise mine foot would either be broke or gone. 2. Engine and Bag rails are worth the cost. 3. Full gear keeps away road rash. 4. 2 seconds behind a vehicle is too close for me. 5. You can never have too much breaking practice. The State Trooper and witnesses said I probably could not have done anything different to prevent it, however there is always something. Any suggestions on what I could or should have been doing and don't be afraid to hurt my feelings. Looks like I am not going to be doing any riding for awhile and dealing with insurance.
  9. Have you ever wondered where and how yodeling began? Many years ago a man was traveling through the mountains of Switzerland. Nightfall was rapidly approaching and he had nowhere to sleep. He went up to a farmhouse and asked the farmer if he could spend the night. The farmer told him that he could sleep in the barn. As the story goes, the farmer's daughter asked her father, "Who is that man going into the barn?" "That fellow traveling through," said the farmer. "needs a place to stay for the night, so, I told him he could sleep in the barn." The daughter said, "Perhaps he is hungry." So she prepared a plate of food for him and then took it out to the barn. About an hour later, the daughter returned. Her clothing disheveled and straw in her hair. Straight up to bed she went. The farmer's wife was very observant. She then suggested that perhaps the man was thirsty. So she fetched a bottle of wine, took it out to the barn, and she too did not return for an hour. Her clothing was askew, her blouse buttoned incorrectly. She also headed straight to bed. The next morning at sunrise the man in the barn got up and continued on his journey, waving to the farmer as he left. When the daughter awoke and learned that the visitor was gone, she broke into tears. "How could he leave without even saying goodbye," she cried. "We made such passionate love last night!" "What?" shouted the father as he angrily ran out of the house looking for the man, who by now was halfway up the mountain. The farmer screamed up at him, "I'm going to get you! You had sex with my daughter!" The man looked back down from the mountainside, cupped his hand next to his mouth, and yelled out..... "LAIDTHEOLADEETOO"
  10. Okay, the kid is only 20 weeks along in these shots. I just thought it's amazing what they're doing with Ultrasound these days. No idea if it's a boy or a girl. The Technician asked my daughter if they wanted to know the sex of the child... she said "no", I said "we do", Technician said "Tough, if mama doesn't want to know, nobody gets to know".
  11. A few of you know my Daughter Abigail was admitted into the hospital December 27th with severe stomach pain. She was discharged last night when pain subsided. They don't know what happened because the specialist they needed refused to come to the hospital because it was the holidays. They kept her on morphine and wouldn't sign the papers to have her transferred to University of Michigan hospital where they said she needed to be. Been an ongoing problem for two years but usually only lasted a few hours so by the time she got to a doctor it was over and they couldn't find a reason. This time it lasted for 6 days, she couldn't eat or drink and she lost 12 pounds, and they did very little to find the cause of the problem. So starting Wednesday she starts seeing doctors for follow up so they can tell me they don't know why and they need to see her when she's having the pain. I better stop before I start ranting. Wish her luck.
  12. So... for New Years eve we had a small party at the house and I now have a future son-in-law, he proposed to my daughter at 11:58 pm 12-31-10 Was a great night with family and friends.
  13. Welfare Check..........* *A guy walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check.* *He marched straight up to the counter and said, "Hi. You know...., I just HATE drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job."* * The social worker behind the counter said, "Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a Chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter. You'll have to drive around in his 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL, and he will supply all of your clothes.* *"Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You'll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips. * *This is rather awkward to say but you will also have, as part of your job, the assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20's and has a rather strong sex drive." The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, "You're bull****tin' me!" The social worker said, "Yeah, well ... You started it."*
  14. Once upon a time there lived a king. The king had a beautiful daughter, The PRINCESS.. But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt. No matter what; Metal, Wood,Stone, Anything she touched would melt.. Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king, 'If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.' The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king's wealth.. THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE. The first brought a sword of the finest steel. But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted. The prince went away sadly . The second prince brought diamonds. He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted. He too was sent away disappointed. Thethird prince approached. He told the princess, 'Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.' The princess did as she was told, though she turned red . She felt something hard. She held it in her hand. And it did not melt!!! The king was overjoyed. Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed. ! And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after. Question: What was in the prince's pants? M&M's of course... They melt in your mouth, not in your hand. What were you thinking??
  15. Taking my RSTD to the church this afternoon to do Trunk-or-Treat from the saddle bags... I thought of filling one with treats and one with tricks, but my daughter (and frequent pillion rider) insists that both have to have candy in them :/

  18. Hi everyone. Before I attempt to reinvent the wheel, perhaps someone on the forum has some info to help me. My daughter is 9 yrs old and yesterday I took her around our neighborhood on the bike, she loved it. In fact she loved it so much that she wants to take a longer country ride with me. I'm a little uncomfortable with her fit to the bike. Previously I installed some later model OEM rear foot pads for my wife. they sit about 4" lower than I'd like for my daughter to be comfortable. If I could find a few more of these used foot pads, I might be able to tig weld a nice machined block to them and be able to switch them out using the pin and clip to swap out for my wife or daughter. ( Of course other ideas welcome) Next, I'd love to be able to fabricate a few arm rests for her unless anyone knows of some available aftermarket options. Thanks, joe
  19. After all my hard work and even leaving Carl's venture in early to to get all the work done , I have to say I failed. got the drywall done and painted in the three story stair well. but did not get finished building the oak hand raill. Fortunatly my Daughters wedding was still a great success everyone had a great time eating drinking and dancing. This morning we had a big after wedding breakfast, and tonight we had a big after wedding dinner. As speeches go they were all short and sweet and as per normal, each talker managed to put someone on the spot, except me I some seemed to put myself on the spot (guess this is why my lowest grade in school was public speaking. My wife had the shortest speach in history. she got up and said My daughter was absolutly beautiful and through out the night she made sure she spent time with each person that was there. My son in law wanted to know how long before he could start borrowing tool's- - Hard to believe:think: Actually my new son in law is a great guy and I could not have picked any one better for my daughter. I know he will treat her right. trouble is my wife will start expecting the same from me. She is the type of person that thinks you can teach old dogs new tricks.
  20. Well looks like the wife and I are gonna ride down to Durham N.C. spend a couple days with our daughter and look for work. Things just dont seem like there gonna pick up here anytime soon for us road workers. Ive always wanted to ride thru the Outer Banks, I read a article once about it in a biker mag and it just sounds awesome. So were gonna try and do that while downthere. Been putting some on-line apps in around the Durham/Raliegh area and thats where were hoping to relocate too. I am also a lia. builder so been looking in those areas too. Not sure exactly what are exact plans are as we like to wing it usually. But we got 12 or so days to ride and explore and thats what we gonna do. So far the plan is- leave Mich on May 28 -hang with Sarah (daughter) 30 and 31-- (only days she has off work), then we got 9 days before we need to be back home. Pam needs to be back at work June 10.
  21. My daughter got her class 6 (motorcycle licence). She has been to dairy queen twice already.
  22. Buddy needs a good home. He is three and needs a backyard to run in. He is great with kids and is a lap dog too. My daughter took him in after someone dumped him out in our neighborhood as a scrawney 10lb puppy. My daughter, also seen in the picture, was convinced the "poor little thing" would not get very big. I looked at his paws at the time and laughed!!! He really is a great dog, just spoiled and scared of thunder. Since they don't have a fenced yard, he has outgrown them, as a house dog, especially with the new grand baby.
  23. My son asked if he could upgrade to a lager bike this year. He is over six feet tall and the Shadow was too small for him. He wanted a bike with hard bags that could be locked. We looked all around at a number of bikes and he is the proud owner of a 1st Gen. A 1990 Yamaha Venture Royal with 30000 miles (50000 Km). My wife and daughter don’t want me to sell the Shadow so they can ride it. Now I have 3 ponies in the stable to look after. True to form.... Here are some pics

I have a daughter that is 16, and forgot more than I will ever will know, we ll know that story. So I want to take her on some road trips with me this summer, ask her ride down the street with me and that way you can get a feel of it, she agree and she never been on a bike in her life, so I left the driveway went 1/4 to the stop sign, never got out of 2nd gear she scream slow down all the way then I made right turn hoping the feel would come to her, Nope 1/2 mile she was still scared again never got out of 3rd gear, went back home and she said never again, so her friend that has ridden got on we came back and she said that is the nicest seat and bike I ever been on. Look at my daughter and said I will text you while we ride and tell you what all you are missing.. Brittany shook her head and walk off...It was all in fun but I did learn she ain't gonna be riding wirth me....
