Hauled a load last week from Pasco,Wa. to Grass Valley,Ca.... I ran 395 70 49 and 89 to the top of Donner Pass in Truckee... Then ran I80 to Highway 20 down the hill into Grass Valley... It would have been way better on the bike, but that stretch of 20 was real cool.... I was on it at 5pm local time and quite a bit of traffic...

With the miserable hot weather we have been having, Linda and I decided to load up the little camper and take off to the mountains. We ended up staying at Mt Pisgah Campground, which is about 5,000 feet up and about 25 miles south of Asheville, NC. The temps on that part of the parkway were about 75 degrees and Thursday morning temperature was 58 degrees. We did get into some heat when we went down to Brevard and ate on Thursday evening and again when going to Cherokee, NC yesterday. We had a little rain shower in Cherokee and it cooled off then we headed back up the mountain. We are supposed to have rain tonight and tomorrow and being up there with it being cool and wet was enough for us to come back to Johnson City for the weekend and maybe we will go somewhere again Monday if we can find someplace cool. The only downer was two couples that came in Thursday night and set up their tents next to us and they were loud and about every sentence had the F word and the women were worse then the guys. As we were packing up to leave this morning, I mentioned it to one of the maintenance men picking up trash and within about five minutes one of the Rangers were giving them a little visit. There were several families close by that had small kids that were easily within hearing them. I am always a little anxious pulling the camper as it weighs about 450 pounds loaded. The bike pulls it fine, even up the mountains, but slowing it down quickly would not be fun. Fortunately, everything went good. RandyA

What a fun day riding to the SC Railroad Museum today! Even though it was hot, the train ride was awesome! Of course, we had to stop at DQ for a cool refreshment afterwards! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2011/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20201106116%20SC%20Railroad%20Museum/

Had a signal dynamics back off brake light flasher install since last august, now it won't flash, wired to the led bar, removed it wired it into the stock brake light, no flash, wired it into both, no flash, took it up to the "factory" here in FL, 10 miles away, they were VERY helpful, talked to the owner/engineer, he tested it and gave it back, rewired it including a resistor he provided, no flash, took it back, they tested it on several heavy and light load light, worked perfectly, gave it back, "incompatable maybe" he said...can't seem to make it work on my bike, he did give me a 10 cent tour of their place, very cool, he said that could build all their products over seas but they don't to keep jobs over here, if you are looking for cool products, check them out, "signal dynamics"....any ideas what to do now?

Sound like a good(but expensive idea). I want to take all the plastic off my 85, and take it so it can get molded and get a carbon fiber fairing for it. That'd be cool, but its one of those dreams that will never come true.

Loaded up and ready to roll south http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0214.jpg Some late entries for the "big stuff" scavenger hunt... I think the Cow shot should be worth more because it is at DQ http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0218.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0227.jpg Had orders for Pecans so stopped a Priester's only to discover that they only have "specialty" pecans http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0221.jpg So had to stop at the "We're nuts" place to get some bags of "in the shell" pecans. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0222.jpg Cool place, right in the middle of them old cotton fields back home. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0224.jpg Stopped for the night in Tifton and parked the bike outside my "suite" at the Microtel... there goes "always garage kept" http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0228.jpg Veterans day dawned foggy in south GA, the sun and the fog made for some cool views. The trees in the fog reminded me of Snoopy behind enemy lines in the old Peanuts strip. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0230.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0234.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0238.jpg Finally made it into the land of Spanish moss... Should have taken more pictures, but from here I really got wrapped up in riding each little town was either completely decked out for veteran's day, or not at all. Some had flags AND Christmas decorations up. Great ride. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0239.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0241.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj302/ThomWill/Ride%20to%20Kissimmee/100_0242.jpg

I've got stubby little arms to go with my stubby little legs, so I'm going to need to move the bars back a little closer when I get my RSV. Has anyone here tried these? They look pretty cool. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ50825?N=2757835&results=100

We had a great trip over to Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas yesterday Sat. Nov. 13th. We hit the foliage in that area just right. The show is a little long so get you a cool one and sit and watch all the fun we had! Phil http://www.photoshow.com/watch/gX9Yj3uQ?source=em_ps_show_owner

Ok , Guys. n Gals. It was a pretty cool event so here is my photos. this was the first time to this one and thanks to karl for tipping me off about it. Even thou it was a very cool morning and an hour and half up to flint from Lincoln Park. I drove up in the car with my 2 kids. despite the later in the day "dad is it time to go yet" from my 6 year old they were pretty good troopers. next year I will for sure be entering my 83 venture, and my 74 honda rat chopper. http://s592.photobucket.com/albums/tt7/dd7890/Bikes%20on%20the%20Bricks%202010/th_flintbikeshow003.jpg

Show me your cockpit!! Actually, every rally I go to I check out the different cockpits/handlebar setups. It's amazing to me to see the innovations that people have come up with and also how they have worked around the various problems of adding items into their cockpit. Just post a simple picture of your cockpit. I labeled mine, but just a picture would be cool. Maybe this thread will show LOTS of variations that some of us can use on our bikes. Wally
