  1. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2009/04/06/motus-american-motorcycles-new-american-motorcycle-company-breaks-cover/ Coming at us from Alabama....
  2. I purchased a New 2009 RSV and just got back from my first road trip (300 miles one way.) I now have 2000 miles on this bike in a month. When I was 40 miles from home I noticed a grinding/scrapping noise coming from my rear end, knowing about the infamous dry pins I didn't think anything of having to remove the rear wheel and lube the pins. When I got home I put it up on a jack, removed the rear wheel and checked the rear end lash, than I started it up with no rear wheel and shifted it through the gears to check out my tranny for problems just in case. I couldn't believe the noise coming from the trans in 5th gear, it sounded like it was flying apart. I didn't have any trouble shifting or keeping it in gear and the original noise was coming from my rear wheel. I lubed the pins and 4 were dry, lubed the teeth on the drive and reassembled it, torqued everything per spec's, than I took it for a test run and all's quite for now no noise's of any kind. Should I be concerned about my trans sound I heard with the wheel off in 5th?
  3. :dancefool: WENT FOR MY FIRST RIDE TODAY SINCE DECEMBER 2007 !!! PRACTICED IN A LOCAL CARPARK THEN RODE TO HAVE A COFFEE BEFORE COMING HOME. NOW HAVE BIG GRIN ON MY FACE--AND HELMET HAIR I KNOW--PICS
  4. wrongway just called and said the canadians are coming. guess linda better make some coffee. let the party start in st. charles. :clap2:
  5. 25. Don & Eileen Nelson...................Ohio The boss is coming, the boss is coming...........Don is coming too........:rotfl::rotfl:
  6. I have recently purchased the harley mufflers to complete the exhaust mod for my RSV. From the posts I have seen, the baffle drill out is to be done with a 1 1/8" hole saw. My question is, is this the correct size? The pipe coming from the center of the muffler is closer to 1 5/8"... I also notice looking down the pipe from the tail end, that one pipe has a "wavey" baffle that does not complete a solid plate, while the other muffler has an area that looks like 4 parts coming together. Can someone help clue me in here so that i perform this correctly.. I am also curious if there are any changes that will need to be made to the carbs...
  7. Ok folks. it is less that 30 days to Vogel, I have a small problem and I really need those that are attending to help me, especially if you havent registered or did an RSVP on the calendar, I need a better idea on how many people are coming, because I have to order the t-shirts no later than Friday of this week, and right now I only have 13 registrations confirmed, I know a lot of people said they are coming and will register late, but if I go by the count that I have now, and I order that many plus a few extra, I will not have enough to go around, and if I go ahead an order 100 which is what I did last year and only 50-60 show, I am going to go in the hole for shirts and patches. I dont need to do that because all the profits from these shirts go to the "KIDS" at St. Jude Childrens Hospital. We want to present them with a really nice check again this year from Vogel. So PLEASE, if you plan on coming please let me know what size and color you want, there are 2 colors available, they are purple and kelly green........... This only applies to you if you havent registered or RSVP.
  8. Strapped crutches to back seat and away we went!! Little Shakey. My nerves are about done. Now I'm not only watching for something hiding behind every tree, rock or stump now i gotta watch the ones coming straight at me!!! Cage drifted across center line coming at me and I almost paniced. But she is home and I can start getting her ready to go south somewhere... What was the name of that place?? Got lost in the fog first time I went there. Now where did I put that map??
  9. okay, this is the last call for the vendor area from me. we are going to have an indoor area in the main hall for vendors. if you have something that you make that you would like to display and sell, the vendor area is free. it does'nt need to be totally bike related such as jewelry or leather work etc.. we will also have an area set up to sell your used bike parts and bike related items. so if you have something to get rid of bring it with an attached price tag with your name on it. all this stuff will also be in the main hall in a secure area. any questions pm me or danob11. i am really looking forward to seeing everyone that is coming. and wish i could see all the folks that aren't coming. there's still plenty of time to register. see you there. bill
  10. just my usual reminder. the tshirt and meal notification deadline is approaching. 9am, july 13th. after that you can still register but may not get your t-shirts at the 09 rally. i have to notify randall who is catering the meal at the hub so he knows how many people he will have to have food for, at least 3 weeks in advance. i know quite a few people that are coming that haven't registered. if your not going to resgiter till the last minute, at least participate in cindy's poll in the sticky at the top of the watering hole. don't vote in the poll if you have already registered. also don't tell us you can't make. we just want to know who is planning on coming. we, the commitee are trying to avoid getting overrun at the last minute. we want ever thing ready to go when you'all get there. thanks. bill
  11. steve wagner is going to donate one of his radiator grills for the 09 rally drawing. the winner will have choice of colors. thanks to everyone that is donating prizes. keep them coming we love to see people win something. bill :clap2:
  12. There will be several coming to my place on Saturday June 13 to do small maintenance work. Art708 is having an issue with his bike, so we will be working on that bike. Others that may be coming are Mike G in SC, Wanderer, Dave38X, TheKid. Others are more than welcome to come on over.
  13. looks like things are coming together for the 09 rally. more people are beginning to register and it's coming upon us fast. what a ride this has been. it's alot of work putting these meets together. i have a great bunch on my committee. now we need all the folks that are planning to attend to help us out and get registered as soon as you can. we can't wait to see all you folks. bill :clap2:
  14. On Saturday I was riding thur Ohio on Rt 30 on my way home to Pittsburgh from Freebird's MD. This rider came up on me on a Kawasaki 1200. We rode together for about 125 miles. We stopped in W. Va so that I could buy him a coffee. He said that he was coming from Chicago and on his way on to Philadelphia using as many back roads as he could. His bike was not modified. He used only the front brake. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/morph/CIMG2181.jpg www.Mic-Mutes.com Bill Morphy
  15. Sure hope that mystery gift from Squidley will be there, I have been waiting patiently to receive it, I think. Does anybody know who has it and if they are coming.
  16. A week ago last saturday, I was leading a group of about 8 bikes to Indiana from Central IL. Star 242 actually. On I-74 between Champaign and Danville. We were 2 second staggered in right lane at about 68 mph clear day, nice riding weather. Cars coming up fast in left lane, so we were almost totally covered on the left with cars, and in the distance I see the biggest "gater" (truck tire tread) I have ever seen almost totally blocking the middle 2/3 of the left lane. Car drivers don't see it I guess, they keep coming on. I get on the radio, holler for single file, and "pull far right, obstruction in the left lane, watch out for cars coming into our lane!" Or something like that! I also gave the single file signal (one finger straight up above my helmet). I was happy that our group behaved as one, got on the white line. I maintained speed, there wasn't time to slow significantly, and I didn't want too many instructions to confuse things. The cars saw the gater with almost no time to spare and went BOTH directions, coming close, but not hitting any of our group. I was real proud to have been part of several safety talks over the past couple of years, making sure everyone knew the signals and rules. At one point this year I was going over the "rules" before a ride and one of our group seemed peeved at my taking the time to go over stuff they had heard a dozen times. I ignored this person and went on. Safety is something I take seriously. So have meetings before rides, help new people understand the rules, and go over the signals from time to time. On this day, a fast reaction probably saved some lives or skin. I hope the cages appreciated how our bikes knew the danger before they did, and helped them through the situation safely.
  17. OK, so I take off down the highway on my bike and after about two miles this kinda high pitched whirrin' noise starts coming from the front of the bike. It sounds Like it's directly below the front of the false gas tank (where the battery is). I'm thinking that my fan may be trying to go on the fritz, but I'm really not sure. In looking at the temp, it's running way cool and it puzzles me that the fan would even come on at that point. And the noise stops before I can get the bike stopped to check where it's coming from. Any ideas, guys?
  18. OK folks, I had a few requests for the VentureRider Guardian Bells and since I was almost out of them, I went ahead and ordered 50 more. They should be here sometime next week. Information, pictures, pricing and ordering info can be found here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17406 For those of you coming to my Maintenance Day, I will have them available there for $12.00 each because you save the shipping cost.
  19. Who is coming to Vogel, registrations are slow..........I am getting antsy...........just a little of 2 months away..........
  20. I've been lurking here for sometime now and I want to thank all of you that have posted some great advice. I have an 83 venture royale thats been a great bike. I have owned for it about 4 years now. I had some troubles on my next to last ride about a month ago coming back from Pigeon Forge Tenn. over heated twice. Once while riding down the interstate. Also clutch went away when over heated on the highway. Also gas milage was low 35 mpg consistently. Anyways flushed out clutch fluid, drained radiator replaced antifreeze, added purple ice super coolant and synced carbs at idle. Current state clutch is good now, ran alot cooler this last trip 732 miles ( although it did rain on me coming back home for about 270 miles (yuck lol) and the gas mileage measured about 42.5 to 44.3 in good weather. now i have to flush and change out the brake fluid. Lots of effort to stop. One other thing... has any of you guys ever seen the rain beat the plastic covering off of the windscreen? mine had a couple of bad places where it was flaking off but now i just have a few strips of coating left on it running from top to bottom. But anyways thanks again.
  21. So when it comes to synching the carbs is this something that needs to be done on a routine basis or when a problem occurs? I've the the 04 RSV I purchased in 06 and have never had it done. I don't have any problems with the way it's running but with my long trip coming up I'm wondering if I should have it done.
  22. 33 Bikes 48 people and............$350 dollars raised for the Freebird Fund!!!!! What a great day. Couldn't ask for better weather or better company. It was so good to meet so many people. Pics coming soon. We'll do it again next year!!!
  23. I just got a call from the prosecutor.....yeah the one i pissed off:whistling: are ya ready for this???????????? we got male DNA on the new test !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now as confusing as dna stuff is........it is my understanding it is male dna...cant be absolutely matched to him, but he cannot be ruled out !! some dumb figures like 1 in 16,000 thing. to make it a little more substantial.....dale will need to give a sample and be ruled out. please keep the prayers coming that he doesnt show up as one of those 1 in 16,000. The prosecutor said this is very good news for us.......and we can certainly up years we want now. Still no promises of not going thru trial......the perps attorneys secretary called the da yesterday and he has been in a trial and they are in the process of moving there office and so he will prolly talk with him the next day or so...maybe they are wanting to make a plea. i know this is still long from over, but this is such great news for our case. Ive been sitting here just shaking since i got the call. Praise God, i finally turned it all over to Him a few days ago and He is coming thru!!!
  24. Theres is a hollow rattling sound coming from front left of (05 XVZ 1300 ct) motor at medium revs dose some one have an idea on what it mite be or where it mite be coming from Thanks PIPER
  25. Here's the deal: About got smacked by a truck coming over on me the other day. Had my adult daughter on the back so didn't want to do big time evasive maneuvers. The cager (Ford F150) started coming left. I made eye contact with him in his mirror. He knew I was there but he was bigger and kept on coming. I got on the brakes and the wonderful dual tone factory horns (what a joke Yamaha played on us). Cager came on over, shot me the bird, and continued on up the road. I got home, found a Fiam horn I had. I disconnected my chrome horn down by my right foot and connected the Fiam. Hit the button and only heard a slight bump sound. :fiddle:So, I disconnected the front horn behind the fairing and hit the button again. Same result. Took the Fiam and connected it straight to a battery. Perfect loud sound. I guess I'm getting too much voltage drop to use it on the Venture, but wouldn't think so. Have an identical Fiam horn on my V Star 650 and it works fine. Anyone else try this?
