    How long

Just curious How long have you been riding and how young did you start. I was given a mini bike at the tender age of 7, been riding 2 wheels ever since, bought my first bike, a honda CL 350 brand new at 13, had a cb 750 four at 17( still have it). Goldwing by age 24. and multitude of others. First RSV at 49. Gregg:fiddle:
  2. Wanted to let everyone know that when I needed to buy a mirror, this guy sent me one for free! Wouldn't even discuss letting me pay the postage. What a great guy! The mirror came in today and looks like a brand new one. THANKS BOB! (Say Don.....reckon you could hang another award on him for helping out a fellow rider?)
  3. So who all out there has them what brand, do you like them and any other info you can give me. Thanks
  4. I know a lot of you run K&N Air filters.. I have to ask, how often are you cleaning these things out, 'recharging' them as it were? I installed mine last summer, 31,000 miles ago to be exact and just now recharging them (they are soaking with the cleaner right now).. and they are just like brand new except for the spot right in front of where the air comes into the box.. a 2 inch diameter grey spot.. the rest of it is nice and red.. wow.. are you kidding me?? I have K&N's on my VSTAR, mind you they sit out in the open so they require more frequent cleaning but is this right, only once a year? And I've been up and down a lot of dirt roads, rain, dust fog and birds.. I'm impressed!! Or should I be doing them more often on spec anyway? I just did the hot hot water from inside-out rinsing and there was a lot of fresh RED oil floating around the tub.. almost as if these were brand new.. wow.
  5. 38180.1 Three pencil and one dial gauge and they all read different. How about the digital gauges? Any brand better than the other, what are you guys using? Thanks in advance
  6. I've read here that the hole behind the driver seat is the perfect size for a cigarette type power outlet, however, in looking at the powerlet brand, it needs a 1.125" hole & I measured the "perfect size" as .875". What brand will fit this hole without modification? Well, 1 more question: I'm not very good with modifying electrical stuff, so, how exactly do you modify the white plug near the battery that I've read about to work with a power outlet? And is it already fused? Thanks.
  7. I just bought a 1999 Venture and My wife and I wear shorty helments any recommendations on a brand to use.
  8. 38034.1 Looking to buy a heated jacket liner and gloves, did a search, but did not see a comparison of : warm & safe heated clothing or gerbing heated clothing So has anyone had both , if so, which brand and why... Regards
  9. As most members are aware, there is no charge to attend the 2009 Pork in the Pines (www.porkinthepines.com) pig roast this year. And to help us cover the costs, one of long term members has donated a brand new car tire to be auctioned off. The proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Pork in the Poines donation jar. As this is a car tire, this will pr0obably interest a lot of the darksiders and those who are considering going to the dark side. What we have is a brand new 155.80.15 tire. The bid will also include shipping to the winner. So, if your interested in this tire, and in helping a fun Venturerider event, let the bidding begin.
  10. what can be done to lessen or better yet, eliminate the clunky up shifting of these Ventures. I, however, shouldn't assume all lst editions have clunky shifts. My last 88 was fairly smooth. I have brand new fluid in the clutch master and completely bled out all the air; lots of handle. Brand new 20/50 Yamalube oil. I know that isn't the best but I didn't want to put $12 Amsoil or something equivalent right away. I intend to put a few hundred miles on this dino before changing to a better oil. But sure seems like this oil would be conducive to smooth shifting. Any advise would be highly appreciated.
  11. This will sound very silly to some but I'm shaking off the winter dust from my winter purchases and ready to install a lot of them onto my 2006 RSV but for the most part, I either can't remember where I stored the dang stuff or misplaced the installation paperwork.. I need my own storage space lol I bought a trailer hitch assembly for my bike and can't find the installation paper work.. I can't even remember the brand name so that I could download it from their site. I'm wondering if anyone recognizes this description and could point me to their website.. The hitch is not from DiamondR.. The hitch comes with an optional 3 post flag mast attachment. Does this brand ring a bell with anyone?
  12. what if any brand fits a half helmet for a intercom or do i have to buy a diffrent helmet?
  13. I received this email yesterday from one of our MBA students: Hey Courtney, The word on the street is that you have a Harley Davidson For our brand management class, my group is working on a brand valuation of HOG, and we need to collect market research in the form of a quick 5 minute survey. However, we're having a tough time finding current Harley owners to fill out the survey. Is there any chance you'd be willing to fill it out? Also, would you mind passing it along to anyone you know that might be willing to fill it out, too? Again, it takes about 5 minutes, is completely anonymous, and the results are purely being used to help us answer research questions about perceptions of the Harley brand. Here's the link, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AAYCAvIlY9PHIgU3pcqbEg_3d_3d if you're too busy or not interested, not a problem! Best, Abby Mills Abby Mills Tippie School of Management MBA Candidate 2009 I told her I'd help get the word out. (and I explained that I have a YAMAHA!) They would appreciate any responses they get. Thanks! --Courtney
  14. Has anyone added an air pump to the 2nd gen yet? If so what brand of pump and where did you locate it? Thanks in advance.

    carbtune

Is this the same thing as the name brand carbtune? Does anyone know if it works as good as the other carbtune?
  16. I am thinking of replacing the clutch, from all the documentation with the bike It has the clutch that came from the factory in it. If I change the clutch out, is there a better brand that will last longer? is there any upgrades that I should look at that will make it so I never have to replace the clutch again?
  17. 6pak

    YamaMart.

I went by the local stealership for a couple things on friday. While there, I walked thru the new bikes to see what was on sale. I thought I was at Walmart the way prices are falling. Brand new '07 V-Star 1300 $6999. Brand new '07 Road Star 1700 $7999. I don't know if this is everywhere or not. But they just got these out of the crates as they weren't there last time I was there. If anybody wants to take a look, check out Alcoa Goodtimes .com. Alcoa Tn.
  18. Received this from a co-worker.....thought this was worth posting.........what do you think..........??? I got this email and it occurred to me that in our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else and perhaps their job... I don't know who this lady is that started this email but I think she has the right idea. Let's follow her lead!! This is what she says: This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled "Everyday Value.." I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs cost more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO ! and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this -the USA . So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here - from a company in Cleveland OH! So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets.... yep you guessed it Bounce cost more money and made in Canada, the Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price! So my challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors! If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Besides, you might save a little green in the process. Stop buying from China .......... We should have awakened a decade ago...... lets get with the program.... help our fellow Americans keep their jobs ...and create more jobs here in the U.S.A.
  19. Broke my Rt side mirror off completely, even the glass. Went looking for spares and I think I could get hen's teeth easier. Stealer wants over 200, fleabay has a couple for a hundred or more. I just don't have that kind of money. I'm thinking about trying to put a pair on from another brand of bike... ones that are not gold plated . Anyone tried that before, if so, how did it work out?
  20. I am about to replace the clutch on my 83VR. Wondering if I could get some input on what type or brand I should be looking at.
  21. I ride a 93 Venture Royal, it has Bridgestones on it now, but I'm wanting to replace the tires on it. I'm just been rideing for about 4 months now so my knowledge is little. Do you all recommend a certain brand, I live in the country and we do a lot of back road riding to get to the highways. Thanks Big Havk
  22. I see lots of discussion regarding Avon Venom, Metzler Marathon, and Dunlop Elite tires on the forum. I was wondering if anyone has used the Maxxis brand tires, and if so, can you give an evaluation of your experience. Thx.
  23. I'm looking at a brand new 2007. What do you think would be the lowest price I could get it for?
