I guess I was having a good day last week because I ordered a drivers backrest for my RSTD, the only problem is its for a Venture. Than to make things worse I tried to install it not knowing it was for a venture that didn't work, so any body out there needs a Diamond R drivers backrest I have one for sale. The only thing wrong with it is I ground the points off the part that bolts to the bike, it doesn't affect anything. Will sell for 190.00 plus shipping cost me 248.00 with shipping or will trade. I recently bought an '04 Midnight RSV. It has the small nubs on the side of the passenger backrest. My wife wants the backrest that has the arm rests which stick out about 6-8 inches. I've seen photos, but haven't found it for sale on www.starmotorcycles.com and haven't found any info on it in this forum, so please help me learn where to purchase it and what it is called. I have attempted to attach photos of other's bikes with the two different styles that I am trying to describe. I was wondering if anyone has compared both the Diamond R and Utopia Pillowtop drivers backrest and if so what were your pros and cons for each? Also, which did you opt for and why? Looking to buy, but not sure which to go with. Thanks, Mark

Here's a pic of a stock RSTD passenger backrest converted to a removable driver backrest. The mounting brackets left over can then be used as a removable trunk mount. -

Well, I took off today and drove 575 miles and I am so very pleased with the Utopia backrest. I am not doing a commercial, but I have to tell you, it was worth the wait!! Just thought some of you might be interested. Keep it tween the ditches! Sky Pilot

I am looking for a backrest for my Millenium Edition 2000 RSV. Yamaha doesn't offer the color anymore. It is a tan color. Does anyone have one lying around???

OK GUYS AND GALS WHEN IT COMES TO KNOWING ABOUT DIFFERENT PRODUCTS I HAVE LEARNED TO TRUST ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS... IT IS TIME FOR ME TO THINK ABOUT ADDING A DRIVER BACKREST..WHICH ONE DO I GO WITH...DIAMOND OR UTOPIA..COST IS ABOUT THE SAME...I HAVE A 2005 RSV..HOW ABOUT INSTALLATION? I’m removing the trunk and mount on my 2004 RSV and stumbled on a few threads in the past on options. For now I’m leaning on getting a RSTD backrest and was wondering if someone put together a complete list of parts and or can point me to a dealer that can get me setup at a reasonable price. -

I just installed the new seats from Diamond on my 05 RSTD and I now have an extra backrest for sale, as the one I had on my origional seat won't work with the Diamond Seats. The one that I am selling is 1 year old and looks as new, it is a Utopia and matches stock RSTD seat you can view the backrest at www.utpr.com/royalstar2005. So I snagged a used Corbin 1 piece seat on eBay (got a GREAT DEAL).. but it comes without backrests. Looking on Corbin's site, the backrests are like $250!! So I did some digging around, and I found this company that sells backrests that supposedly mount on the Corbin seats.. anyone heard of or had one of these? http://www.harrisonspecialtiesstore.com/servlet/the-27/Corbin-Seat-Drivers-Motorcycle/Detail This backrest is 1 inch taller and wider than the standard Corbin backrest.. very tempting for the $$ but thought it might be wise to check here first. I found a little barrel backrest with a long apron that you sit on. It is held in place by a heavy black stretch cord and it only cost $39, It hits me just right in the lower back. Got it a local Yamaha dealer. tew47

Hey all, got CCOerika liking the 2up thing. She now schedules rides and tells me in the morning unexpectedly. No cryin' here, I am all for it. Well, since this is happening more often and we are going a bit further, the bums are getting a little sore. An hour an half and it is time to get off and rub em off. I need some help on what I can do and who y'all recommend to do it. I had my seat and backrest re-covered a while back and like it and do not want to change that. The padding under it is original and has had more than it's share of weather on/in it. I had to have the covers redone because they melted and parts were staying on the pants. Help keep the bums lasting longer! -
About two years ago, I upgraded my seat to a Mustang. Unfortunetly, I didn't order the one with the backrest. Now here I am wanting the backrest, but don't want to buy a whole new seat. Does anyone know how to add a backrest to a Mustang, or know of anyone who can? Mustang cannot add it on. I have to spend $700.00 for a new seat. Or better yet...knowing the ingenious members we have here, does anyone have any other possible homemade solutions? My back thanks you!

Greetings: I ride a 2006 RSTD and the past few rides my shoulders and back get quite sore/tired resulting in my having to stop every 30-40 minutes. I have ridden about 18,000 km this past year and this is getting worse -( it was not bad at the start) I have been thinking about the Mustang seat and backrest. Those of you who have switched to a Mustang or even a Corbin - did you find this helped the stiffness and soreness? How about highway pegs - will that also help? Thanks in advance Eugene

Using tour deluxe backrest on venture

Ok i took off my tour pak and all........Im gettin a tour deluxe backrest because i wanted it removeable,anyone know anything about the pins where it latches to and im not talkin about the dampers the backrest rest on,i guess there are pins that come out of the strut.thanks -
Is there such a thing out there? I sold my RoadSofa and got some pillow tops. I think I miss the backrest but don't want a fixed one. Is there a folding one out there?

for my '83 VR is a horn, and a backrest. The horn on my bike is pitiful, with not enough voice to alert anyone to anything . I would like to know what is the legally loudest horn set that I can get for my bike. Also, where would be the best place to get the best price for a backrest?
