  1. Looks like the Pentagon has taken a hit. Whats more destructive then a nuclear bomb? It's CYBER WARFARE. Who is next? Wall Street? Banks? Power Grid? Can we live without a computer? The only reason I have anything or you is because some computer says so.
  2. need help have 2006 venture can get no sound out of any speachers radio cb and cass all power up. tried changing form speachers to headset still nothing
  3. I tried a search but couldn't find anything. I have a 99 RSV and one speaker isn't working. Right front. Clarion 090-0051-47. It has power to the speaker but won't do anything. Any info on where to get one? Thanks:Venture:
  4. Just experimenting with the carbs. I have a 1990 and installed the original 1983 42.5 pilot jets and 180 air jets. Idled nice a little more power, mileage about 36 mpg at 70 mph and 4000 rpm. Did what 5bikes described to improve mileage lowered needles power was decent and mileage improved to 40-43mpg at 70 mph @ 4000rpm. Just for fun I used the the original 1983 needles which have 5 positions to raise or lower the needles unlike the 1986+ needles which have no adjustments. The 1986+ taper of the needles is less then the 1983-85 needles. Took the 83 needles and raised them to the highest setting its got real nice power but its running rich I can smell it on my clothes, slight stumble on the initial throttle twist then its a rocket, mileage a grand high of 25 mpg. Im gonna now set it to the lowest needle setting (so it sits deeper) and see what results I get. Anyone know if the the actual tube the needle sits in is different from 83-85 to 86-93? Just playing around with this stuff.
  5. Question is do I need to replace the left turn signal or the signal switch or the relay?? My left front turn signal went out, so I replaced it and it still will not work?? Tried another bulb and still not working. Cleaned out the holder and still not working. The light still works but not the turn portion of the bulb?? I thought if you had power to the bulb both would work. Give me some of your wisdom please. THANK YOU in advance.......................Ron
  6. Well, I decided to wash the bike up today and get her ready for winter storage. This last summer I purchased a (gas) power washer (Ridged 3300) not just for the bike... been using it for lots of projects! Anyways , I decided to try something different today, I hooked the hose to a soft-water outlet, then washed the bike with a medium power spray nozzle. then what was the best is that I used a Electric Toro Leaf Blower (850} to blow the bike dry.. (worked perfect) no spotting on the chrome what so ever. dry time was about 10 Min's. The blower was able to get into those hard to get chrome area spots. Just thought I would share my fun washing expereance with you today! Jeff
  7. Anyone else have this problem. Just replaced the rear tire to a Avon so because the tire was off I also removed the diff and greased the drive shaft. Anyway when I put the brake caliper back on it seemed fine until it was time for a test ride. The rear brake went all the way down and there was no stopping power at all. So took the caliper back off and could not see any thing wrong. Bled the heck out off it and got most off the braking power back. It just doesn,t make sence because when the caliper was first removed it was just moved out off the way and left until the rest was back together. Oh by the way it is an 08 Venture. Any suggestions.
  8. It's been a while since I've been stumped, but I am right now. I am working on Dave Pankows '86 and for some reason I dont have the headlight working now and it worked when he pulled into the driveway. I have replaced the fuse block with one of the upgrades to push type spades. I have done half a dozen of better of these with no issues. Everything appears to be working normally on the fuse block as I have tested to make sure of power from one side through the fuse to the other lead side. The bike starts and runs all the lights work, signals, emergency flashers, running lights, but no headlight. It's a new bulb as I checked it and the filaments are good, I just have no power to the switch. Now mind you that I am not good with chasing wires from a diagram. I have a repair manual but it might as well be in swahelie as far as understanding wire diagrams. I'm not sure if I have to have all the electronics hooked back up for the headlight to work. I dont think so, but I've been wrong before If some of you electrical types could help this dumb welder out I would appreciate it BTW: I am looking for the headlight assy for this '86 also as Mr. Butterfingers dropped it and broke the front glass out
  9. I got my first look of my new 90 Venture today. The CLASS seems like it’s not getting any power. Anyone know what fuse it runs off of and where that fuse is? I had the idea of running power directly from the battery to see if that fixes the problem. Would that cause any issues? Should I wire a fuse in between? I tried riding the bike, but it bottoms out on small dips in the road so I don’t think I can ride it home unless I can figure out something with the suspension. Thanks, Al

  11. The wifie always gets cold and saw some heated clothing and gloves and the local leather shop. Now she thinks this the answer to her problem. Do these items really work or do I have to trailer a generator with welding cables to power them up? Thanks
  12. Hi all, I've been sculling about around here for a few months now and I have learned quite a lot about my bike. So now I have a question about my 84 VR. When I first bought it, the radio powered up but as there was no antenna I couldn't get any stations. The other day I finally replaced the antenna and now the radio will not even power up. I've checked the fuses and didn't see any blown ones. I haven't yet checked for power to the unit, don’t really know where to start. But seeing as the radio/cassette isn't working, would now be a good time to change it out to a more modern unit, one with a CD player? If so, what would you replace it with? Would a marine unit be a good choice? If I can get the old one working, does anybody know where I can get a new plastic cover for the cassette? I broke the corner off, trying to remove it one day. I then lost the piece before I could glue it back together. Thanks for all your help. I really enjoy visiting this place, and hope one day to be able to get to a rally, and meet a few of you. Bill
  13. Buckeye Performance contact issues. Hurricane force winds cause area wide power outages. Yes, we got them here in Ohio! If you have orders pending or waiting of a quote or answer to a question we have no power and very limited Internet access. Please bare with me while we will work through this. It may be a few days before we have power.
  14. looks like IKE is gonna shut my power off pretty soon. i'll see ya'll when i get power restored! just jt
  15. The 12 volt power socket on my fairing has no juice. I can't see any blown fuses on the fuse panel. Is there another inline fuse for that socket???
  16. i just bought the original radio/cassette player for my 1984 venture but it did not come with a power cord. this cord plugs into the amp and connects the speakers and battery to the unit. does anyone know where i can find one, or find out what each wire does so i can make something up? the plug has 9 connections in a 4-1-4 pattern. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  17. my 84 venture did not come with original stereo, but i recently bought one but it did not come with the wiring harness to hook up the speakers and power. can someone tell me where to get one or show me what wires do what? the plug coming off the amp has 9 contacts in a 4-1-4 pattern. this radio is from an 83. i have checked the yamaha parts fiche and the radios are the same for both. thanks
  18. Could someone with power please move my meet-n-eat thread to the "Meet-n-Eat area of the forum? Sorry I posted in the wrong place. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=240592#post240592 Thanks
  19. I want to install power outlet for temporary accessories, any lying around out there? Some one know where to get one that will take a little rain. I may need some guidance on where to hook it up. Thanks, Dale
  20. I have a couple of questions. 1. I have a power strip close to the battery that I installed last year. I have the horn relay, alarm, amp, zumo, and a couple of other things. I’m thinking about putting another strip up under the faring. So that I don’t have to pull wires under the tank and to clean up a few things in that area. Anyone else have a power strip up front? 2. I like to ride during the winter and this year I will definitely have some heated gloves and maybe some heated socks. The only thing that really gets cold is my hands and feet. Any suggestions? What power requirements/hook up will I need?
  21. I think that is the model #. Got this unit as a freebie from the previous owner. Only thing is it didn't come w/ the cartridge. Bought the cartridge and attempted to make sure it works. Manual says hit audio button until you get the the cd and you see the icon. Well I kept scrolling through it several times and I can't get it to recognize the cd changer. I am at least getting power to the cd changer as I can eject the cartridge and when I put it in I hear it cycle through the cd's. I tried searching to see if anyone had this issue before but I couldn't find anything. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Kaw Nomad

Went and road tested a couple Kawasaki Vulcan Nomads on Sat. First one was a '08 .... not a bad price either ( $11,700) brand new. Second one was a '06 for $8,800 ... had 19k km's on it...very clean and the only extras were Vance & Hines slip-on's and nicer hand grips. I like the looks of these scoots and have been toying with the idea of getting one. They were quite comfortable to ride... even Nina was impressed...we both thought they would be considerably rougher. She liked the rumble of the V-twin and the V&H slip-ons. I did find them considerably under powered tho...a lot less than I expected for a 1600cc V-twin and no match... not even close to my VR. Am wondering what improvements can be done power wise... I know I could get a power commander or something like that. Anyone have any thoughts on this. Was also wondering why these bikes which are fuel injected have a manual choke???
  23. Does anyone know where to find the power wire that feeds all four coils? The hot licks kit I'm installing has to tap into it to kill all coil power on the motor and lite the exhaust.
  24. May sound like a stupid question but what is the horse power rating for a 05 royal star venture.
  25. Storms blew through the Twin Cities today. No real major damage but it did take out a tree in our back yard. It landed up against a pine tree and power pole, but missed the house and my new fence (so far). The power company said they will come out sometime next week. Worthless deadbeats. The full story is the tree spit down the trunk vertically and we noticed it a few weeks ago. I took down one half (half not near the power lines) and that stabilized it a bit. It had been widening the split in minor breezes. We called a tree service to remove the rest of the tree and they said they couldn't do anything until the power company came out and trimmed it back from the power lines. Well, the power company never showed up and today the storm did show up. Now they still won't show up for a week. Like I said worthless deadbeats.
