We went to get a cup off coffee last night and on the way home I seemed to have picked up a new sound. Brenda describes it as a stuck leaf or something stuck somewhere that is flapping around and I concur that is seems like something is vibrating. Engine temp and voltage are good, tach is solid and the speedo has an occasional flutter around 55-65 (but the cable has been replaced by the shop last year and I know what a squealing speedo cable sounds like.). Brake disks were cold to the touch when we arrived home (it was in the 30's). The sound is not continuous and will vary in intensity, starting abruptly and fading out or vice versa. It does not appear to be speed or RPM related! I'm kinda stumped but am leaning towards checking the speedo cable or maybe an exhaust leak at the front header?? Any other ideas??

I've got a 1999 RSV. The brake light is stuck on. I've disconnected both the front and rear brake switch and the brake light stays on. When I unplug the brake relay, the brake light goes off. I've replaced the front brake switch, the rear brake switch, and the brake relay. The brake light is still stuck on. I've inspected the wiring I can see that's not wrapped up in the front or main wiring harness and see no visible scrapes, cracks, cuts, breaks, etc. Has anybody had or seen this problem before? Suggestions? As always, thanks for your help.

Where does it plug in at??? Under the tank or somewheres else?? I ask because my brake light is stuck on, I disconnected the foot switch and it stayed on so it pretty much narrowed it down to the front.

Just went to the Sturgis Cam to take a look at the aftermath of last week. The cam focuses on the downtown area, main st. I guess. The one thing that really stuck out were all of the "oil spots" all down the middle of the road where the "you know what kind of bikes" were all parked.........just sayin:rotf::stickpoke:

Stuck in Eureka, California (Sunday, July 25th) No, not me (fortunately), but my brother in-law. Lynn and his wife Cindy left Blackfoot, Idaho last Friday for a ride up the PCH and up to Forks, Washington. They got as far as Eureka today and got a flat tire on their '09 Venture. They have a place to stay this evening, but they will be in the market for a new back tire first thing in the morning. I'm not sure what kind of service he's going to be able to find in Eureka tomorrow morning, or if they will even be able to find a back tire very quickly. Anyone have any tips or suggestions I can pass-on to them to assist? Like many of us have, we too have been stuck on a road trip, and it's sure nice to know when people are available to lend a hand. I have gas leaking from hose near ground under seat but only when bike sits in hot sun? I know the standard answer is stuck float but I put bike in shade or garage and no leak?? Any ideas?

Hello VR Forum! I'm a newbie here as I just purchased a 2006 RSTD last night. It's a sweet bike, but I already have one problem. The dealer (or someone) put the gas cap in wrong. It's stuck and won't come out. The triangle notch on the top of the cap is pointing at the road behind - the 6:00 position - when it should be pointing at the road ahead - the 12:00 position. I tried and tried to get the cap off, but had no luck. Today after work, I'm going to try to hold the key in the unlocked position while spinning the gas cap so it's in the right position to be removed. A mechanic at a local Yamaha dealer suggested this one. Any other advice?? Thanks, Greg -
Those of you who know me from the chat room, know that I farm for a living. Mother nature has decided to make it extremely difficult for us in my area. We have been extremely wet for the last year and a half. Here a a few pictures that are kind of cool. The outfit that is stuck spreads fertilizer prior to seeding the ground. He got stuck in a sinkhole. The rest of the ground is fit for planting, It took us a full day to get him out, using a backhoe, and 2 4wd tractors. AINT FARMING FUN!

This gives new meaning to "stuck at home": From my visit to the Huntsville Meet and Eat on Saturday 5 Sep 09, I rode the 4 hours up mostly in the rain. I rode the 4 hours back always in the rain and I guess it never stopped raining at my house and this is the result on my return. Stuck Valve on 2007 Royal Star Venture

My bike has been at dealer shop now for 5 weeks. They say I have stuck valve and should be using ring free or techron with my gas and use premium gas only. They have agreed to fix under warranty. After all, they are the only one that has serviced my bike and never mentioned this when I drove it off the showroom floor. I love my bike but don't want this to happen in future. I don't see where I have done anything wrong but I have not been putting additives in gas between fill ups. Has any one else had this issue? -
Still got the Taurus? Ad claims you are only 40 miles from me. Little more than that I think. Looks good in pics. I'm stuck without transportation and waiting on insurance to say something. Just wanted to know if it was there. It looks good. What kind of MPG? Does it use any oil? I'm a Buick man but got stuck this time if Insurance don't come up with something I may have to buy a Skateboard. I got a good Unicycle!! Wanna trade??

What do you suggest to use to re-attach the holder, on the tank, for the head set cord receptacle? Somehow, it popped off when I bumped it. I don't know if it is supposed to be stuck on with a glue or maybe a 2-sided tape. Anyone else have this problem? Owen.

i see there is lots of problems with 2nd gear but the one i just picked up says on the dash its in 1st gear and it really is pretty happy to be stuck in that gear. Has anyone ran into this before?

I have an 84 Venture Royale. The left turn signal is stuck on (does not blink) I imagine it's a relay. I popped the headlight and can see a number of relays but no idea what they do. Any help gratefully appreciated

I stumbled upon what I think is wrong with my bike.. I took the airbox off my 85VR brownie and my left rear carb slider isn't moving like the rest. It is motionless. I checked the diaphragm out. Does this mean my float is stuck? -
Hi everyone, I've got an absolute nightmare on my hands and need some ideas, suggestions or whatever. I've got a 04 RSV that has'nt been ridden in two years because of dealership games. About 2 years ago the bike began to seriously lose power while riding to the point where i could not get it above about 15 or 20 mph. Lots of backfires and lots of raw fuel coming from the pipes (most of it from the left). After some investigation i found out it was most likely a stuck float and took it to Powersports dealership on Craig Rd. in North Las Vegas where they worked on it for 2 days and said they had fixed it. They told me it was a stuck float valve due to "bad gas" and that that was not covered under the warranty. They said they had tried a workaround to free the stuck valve. After charging me for "services not covered under the warranty" to the tune of 300 bills I got about 3 blocks before it started acting up again. Shortly thereafter, I took it to another dealership who told me the same thing and after 200 bucks they said they had fixed it. The next day it started all over again. After going through an exhaustive move to northern Nevada (in July no less!) I took it to the only Yamaha dealer in town they said they would fix it. I told them, as I had told the others, that the bike was under warranty and I was not going to pay for it. Well, they "fixed" it and charged me 250 dollars for parts and services not under warranty. I got about 2 hours of riding before it happened again. I called Yamaha and told them my tale of woe. I told them how angry and displeased I was with Yamaha and it's dealers. They said they would look into it and get back to me. They called me back and said they "talked" to the local dealership and wanted me to take the bike back there. Before I could take the bike back there, they announced in the local paper that they would no longer be selling or servicing Yamaha products. I don't want to sell the bike but that's what I'm about to do. I'm so angry I want to park the bike in front of Yamaha North America and blow it up! I don't have the technical expertise to fix it or balance the carbs. My poor bike has been sitting out all winter is not doing very well. The warranty has now expired and I'm gunshy of dealerships now. I love my bike and want to save it but I'm frustrated and don't know what to do.ANY suggestions would be helpful. My son in law and I were going to ride today and when we started up gas poured out of his bike onto the ground. The bike is a 1996 Royal Star and it looks like the gas is coming out of the overflow from the carbs on the left side. I am thinking it is a stuck float, but we are having no luck on getting the problem resolved. We have the tank and air filter off the bike. Anyone have any tips on how to get this fixed?

Sooooo, changing the rear brake pads I have discovered the pistons are stuck. Had the rear master cylinder opened and still couldn't push the pistons in, just barely moved. Questions: -Before rebuilding, what if I try a bigger hammer so to speak, and C-clamp these into position? -How hard is it to rebuild? Will I have to bleed the brake? -Saw used rear calipers on Ebay for $50, no idea if the pistons compress. Other thoughts, ideas? At least it's raining so, I am not missing riding today! Cheers,
