  1. i would almost bet on a grand tourer being on the boards in an upcoming yamaha based on the v-max motor. infact i would say you can take it to the the bank. the big problem is the rest of the world is losing faith in our buying power. the dollar is increasingly losing it's value in the eyes of the rest of the world. not to many countries want to take a chance on us other than loan us money to get us in deeper. really sad that we can be so blind.
  2. when they eat the cake everyones going to eat the cake and end up with all their money ,savings, and assets gone. when a country goes under everyone, more so the rich go with it. my grandfather was rich and part owner in a coffee company. then along came the great depression which is miniscule compared to whats going to happen here in the next year or two, and had a great job after the depression as a clerk at the city police station. he was one of the rich who was strong enough not to put suicide up as an option. lost all his money he worked hard for and the assets he worked a life time to accumulate. and he was'nt a crook. he earned it honest. a guy at work said i got no worries my house is paid for and i got money in the bank. i said where you going to get the money to pay the taxes on your house when theres a run on the bank and your savings aren't there anymore. the house goes on the block just like my grandfathers did.
  3. sounds like a dirt bag family from the word go. it's ashame the new biker did'nt use better judgment and let it ride. i feel bad for his family. if the guy did try to run him down and missed as is claimed, you go in and call the police. you don't run out in the driveway with a loaded gun. and call it a medical problem. i think his wife is guilty of something for instigating it.
  4. have been noticing everyone always seems to skirt around a wing. they ask for all the things the wing has, but keep avoiding it. never paid alot of attention to wings till i got one, but i have to say the wing does it all and does it well. they have superb handling, balls out power from idle to red line. in fact i can't think of a luxury tourer that will stay with one. sleek looks, ultra reliability, turbine smooth motor, great mileage. great warranty, and alot of neat little things that are to numerous to list. best quality of anybike i ever owned. and the price is a bargain. try one you might like it. let the bashing begin.
  5. it's riding season in missouri year round as long as theres no ice or snow. if the bike will start it gets ridden. almost every night, and morning.
  6. there are rumors of a 2000cc 6 speed wing in 2010, when they get done with the new plant in japan and move wing production out of the usa. i would have bet on a new 3rd gen in 2011 but with the economy the way it is it may go by the wayside. they aren't going to spend a fortune to beat a dead horse.
  7. just changed mine, very easy. the lady said they would contact all the venture riders just to be sure they new about the change. bill
  8. sounds like a great plan.
  9. did'nt watch the video, but thought i would inject a little common sense wisdom in here. pointing fingers is'nt going to get out of this mess. if the auto industry goes down this country is finished. this is not, just my speculation but a fact. there are millions of jobs that depend on the auto industry. just to name a few. tire manufacturers, electronic manufacturers, venders that make seats, door panels, carpeting, paint, computors, robots, utilities, lubricants, steelworkers, vinyl, glass, all the dealers that provide millions of jobs. i could go on and on. the auto makers only have engine plants casting plants, and assembly plants. most all the other assembly parts are made by outside vendors. when you get all these rebates and giveaway prices on new cars thats just what they are. they are paying you to buy a vehicle at their loss. i know we have a bunch of financial wizards on here that will say let them go broke it's their fault, and that may be right. but we are all going to go down with them, and thats the real fact. think about it, it don't take a brain surgeon to figure this out. this ain't no game this is the beginning of the dimise of the country that i love. snarley bill
  10. i got a really neat balancer on the way should be here tomorrow. i have always changed my own tires and balnced them. i use a large jorgensen wood working clamp to break the bead, has never failed to work, and it is wooden, and it won't scratch the rim. then i use three giant screw drivers to dismount the tire. on the tires that won't hit the rim to air up, i use a tie down strap. trick here is don't put the valve in the valve stem till you seat the bead. you ain't lived till you mount a 240 or bigger tire. like working with a tractor tire.
  11. now there is someone using the old noggin. never thought of welding the tire on. :rotf: :welcome1:snarley bill
  12. maybe your wife could take custom orders. can she spell goldwing. lol. seriously if she is going to bring some things to the 09 rally in the vendor area. what she does'nt have maybe she could make on site or people could order what they would want the bracelet to say. how about matching necklaces? just feeding in some ideas. bill
  13. dan those would go over big ay the 09 rally.
  14. i bought a nice wheel balancer on ebay this morning. any one looking for one cheap they have several kinds to choose from. mine was buy now for $95.95, and 15.00 shipping. after much pondering i think it was the most bang for the buck. figuring my time and materials i could'nt build one any cheaper. check them out on ebay. just punch in motorcycle tire balancers, on ebay. a real bargain and looks like good quality. bill
  15. lewis wings are going strong on ebay. if you do ebay i would list the trailer separate. would probably do better some people want a trailer without a wing and vice-versa. wings always sell fast on ebay, and bring premium prices. bill
  16. i think it is on the must list so the guys get some time to hang out. if the gals are like linda they will still be sleeping.
  17. i know you all are getting tired of my 09 up dates, but we have been getting alot of pm's from members asking good questions. so rather than answer each one individually, i thought i would just put their questions and my answers out there for all the members. the latest question is what kind of events do we have scheduled. here is what we have so far. lots of planned and mapped out group rides. biker skill games, vendors on site, plenty of food including a catered final meal followed by a party still in the planning, just added today by yours truly, a 4 hour maintenence morning for the guys to talk tech and work on each others bikes with coffee and donuts. the gals that get up that early can come to. it will be from 6am, to 10 am. one day. this is what we have so far. we are still open for suggestions. please register as soon as possible to help us figure on the attendees, and make it easier for cindy to figure on the tshirts, rosebud on the name tags, and i can keep the hub up to date on how many they will have to provide food for. we are way ahead on planning this meet and i want to keep it that way so we can make it picture perfect. thanks to all the members who have made good suggestions, and offered their help in the planning. what a great bunch of members we have. snarley bill :clap2:
  18. hit the bolts with a good hammer blow and drift punch in the bottom of the hex hole. that often helps to break them loose.
  19. thanks for the info. i may go take another look today. bill
  20. hey goose, my biggest concern is scratching the rim. and mounting chrome rims. also will i have trouble pulling the anchors out of the floor when i bolt it down? it looks like it would work good. bill
  21. how about having a maintenance day area one day for about 4 hours early in the morning when it's cool, and have hot coffee and donuts for the early risers. like about 6am to 11am. any one want to volunteer to do some wrenching to help people out that aren't to good at it. people could trade tech info and work together on their bikes. we could have a donation cup to pay for the donuts and coffee. this would be a great time for the guys to do their thing. give me some good feed back and i will write it in stone, and pick a day. bill
  22. great, honest, comparison, sounds like your hooked on it. i'm sure the boss will like the acommodations. must say they buid a well finished beautiful bike. the paint schemes are awesome.
  23. glad the bike is working out for you. what do you mean check back with us once in awhile. this site ain't about the bike it's about you and us. we are all friends and who cares what you ride. i ride a wing now and i'm here every day, and will be till i die or they run me off. so get your butt back here on a regular basis. now how do you like that arse chewing? snarley bill
  24. sure do hope so lewis. i'm already chompin at the bit to ride to memphis. snarley bill
  25. i'm game on this idea. i really don't want a gift, but if what we could give back would be more than the value of thier gifts. i'm all for it. brad you and lewis are great folks. :clap2:
