The reason politics is as volatile a subject as religion is because, unlike you, most people also base their political preferences on faith, and just follow what they are told from the party to which they have aligned themselves. I personally don't think it is fair that I never get to vote in primaries, simply because I refuse to be part of any party that doesn't involve beer.

Yeah, what he said.. -
I didn't mention Virgina Tech again. I just listed the people that are now trying to get the "Gun Show Loophole" taken care of.. And the Virgina Tech Review board happens to be one of them.. And yes, there technically no "gun show loophole" but it is still called that.. and it is still a problem.. As is anyone selling handguns to anyone without a background check. But that is legal.

OK, OK,, it is still called a choke in common reference. Just like we still say dialing the phone.. When was the last time you owned a phone with a dial? Anyway, if I forget and leave my fuel enrichment control partial engaged, after the bike warms up it pops when I decelerate. -
In 2001 "Sen. John McCain says he will force Senate consideration of a controversial gun control measure early next year bolstered by a newly powerful argument: Foreign terrorists have exploited a loophole to buy weapons at gun shows while bypassing federal background checks." full article. http://www.usatoday.com/news/sept11/2001/11/27/guns.htm after that for 6 years, nothing,, now. In January 2007, Representatives Mike Castle (R-DE), Christopher Shays (R-CT), and Mark Kirk (R-IL) introduced the “Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2007” (H.R. 96). The bill would require background checks on the sale of all firearms at gun shows, and increase penalties for record keeping and criminal background check violations. The bill has yet to be considered in committee. Additionally, Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) has introduced S. 2237, the “Crime Control and Prevention Act of 2007,” which would require background checks on sale of all firearms at gun shows. In August 2007, the Virginia Tech Review Panel issued their final report which recommended that the "Gun Show Loophole" be closed in Virginia, stating “In an age of widespread information technology, it should not be too difficult for anyone, including private sellers, to contact the Virginia Firearms Transaction Program for a background check that usually only takes minutes before transferring a firearm”.

Thought about this after I saw the commercials for the movie. I've done so many adventurous things, and am still doing more as the opportunity arises. There are still lot of things I would like to do, but none enough to even start a bucket list.

And of course the simplest thing that can cause popping is if the choke is not going all the way off. -

There was nothing under mine but paint.. I took it off, cleaned the glue off, and waxed it. -
Not one of your statements there is in question. But that doesn't mean everyone should be allowed to do whatever they want whenever they want. If that was the case, why bother with laws at all. But the inconsistencies, the ridiculous hypocrisy, and the uncontrolled bureaucracy of the gun control issue is too much. One side fights the smallest change no matter how good it would be and the other just tries to ban everything. And in the meantime anyone that wants a gun can get one. The controls in place are unbelievably easy to get around. I could get a handgun, legally, without a background check anytime if I wanted. I wouldn't legally be allowed to carry, but once someone had a gun, does that stop them?

Did you miss the whole Virginia Tech thing? A young person with a history of mental illness went in applied for a gun, passed the back ground check, and killed a bunch of people in a shooting spree. You don't think things should be more strict than that? And the fact is in many states at gun shows selling between private collectors has little or no restrictions.. The did a check on the guns confiscated in Washington DC a few years back and over 70% were from Virginia, one of the easiest places to get a gun. We have a guy here at work who on several occasions has mentioned his hand guns.. His nickname is HotHead, he has threatened people with physical violence at work three times in the last few years, and he is on depression medicine, I wonder if he should really be allowed a hand gun?

I lived less than a half mile from Telegraph and 8mi Rd junction of Detroit for 12 years. My wife grew up in the projects of Louisville KY. Have moved since but never owned a hand gun even when I lived in Detroit. Never felt the need. And the only guns ever waved in my direction that caused me fear were by over zealous LEOs. While I don't believe in a total gun ban, I am for stricter controls on hand guns. The fact is that for personal protection at home shotgun is much better than a hand gun. And as far as higher education = higher income.. Teachers, including college professors, are the lowest paid profession per # of years education of any profession. Research scientists are next. Neither makes that much money. And a good percentage of the Hollywood rich you disagree with barely made it out of high school. And being rich, having gated mansions and body guards doesn't seem to keep musicians and pro athletes from thinking they have to carry guns and shoot at people. The difference is not the money. If it was the money and neighborhoods, then all politicians would be for the bans, seeing as all of them are rich, live in better or gated areas and have personal body guards. Yet it is about 50/50 split with politicians.

It is not much of a case, and neither side has any real evidence here is the chart for robberies and armed robberies in Australia for several years. For the first 4 years after the gun ban, opponents argued the armed robbery rate went up drastically. but the chart show, armed robbery rate stayed at the same percentage of overall robberies as it always was and when the over all rate when back to normal so did the armed robbery rate. Gun control made no difference in the rate. Didn't help, didn't hurt. http://www.conservapedia.com/Image:Robbery_victims_per_100K.png

Come on over, it is not that bad!!! Not that many carry, the ones that do are just a very vocal group. I never carry, only own one gun, a .22 rifle I have as a keepsake from my father. It was the gun he bought with his first paycheck when he was 16, and was the gun he taught me to shoot with when I was 8. But I have been all over the far East, and Australia in the military, and have to admit, the only place I felt as safe or safer than in the US was Australia. Great place, plan to go back for a visit in 2010. As far as to carry or not.. let me make a corollary to nature.. There are wolves and rabbits, in captivity wolves live to the average age of 17, rabbits to 7. In the wild wolves live to the average age of 7, rabbits to 7. Why, in the wild wolves know they have teeth and put themselves in situations they think their teeth can get them out of, but are often killed by other wolves in these situations. Rabbits take no chances, they know they are no threat and avoid all situations.

They have them on Ebay for like $9 new and $6 used including shipping. But I'm going to check with the computer geeks I know around here to see if they have an old used one I can get for free. -
My biggest problem with the Wing was with my inseam, only being 5'9" I needed to put my feet straight down to control the bike at a stop, and seeing the foot pegs are straight down I couldn't put my feet there. Truthfully I like the looks of the Wing better, but it just didn't fit me as well. ABS would be nice.. Final thing I have to say.. you should have got the air bag,, I've seen the videos from the testing, both early testing when Honda was using remote controlled GL1500s, and newer testing with pre-production remote controlled GL1800s. From both watching the videos, and seeing the impact information from the crash dummies they had strapped to the bikes. I'd say their air bag works.

I take it you have notified Ebay,, and you should file a complaint here http://www.ic3.gov/

Well, I bid on one, but was outbid, and all of the bells are now out of my price range. I guess I'll just have to donate a few dollars...

I have to work both weekends of bike week, but I have the weekdays off. So I will be down there several days. The days I'm not down there I will be riding somewhere if the weather is good. And we go to the Supercross races on Friday night every year.

I wonder if he has put that meter next to a cell phone? Even if he is correct, after all the coil, wires and other electrical parts are often under the seat, taping a couple layers of tinfoil to the bottom of the seat should stop it. Same theory that they use on the inside of laptops to meet radiation leakage standards.

The magazine is decent and I'm pretty sure what I save on insurance is more than the $39 a year I pay.. And I do occasionally buy parts from bikebandit.com online and get the AMA discount. I haven't really used the other discounts and benefits.

I belong to the AMA, and use Progressive because of the AMA discount.
