  1. What stops you from staying at your own place, showing up and hanging out with the group and just buying your own meals? With lodging it seems like a great price, but $400 for a handful of meals, probably at a college cafeteria seems a bit much.
  2. Got the Clearview XXL with vent and the lower wind vents installed today before heading to work.. Still have to install the luggage rack. Probably won't do that until Monday.
  3. biggest difference on our bikes is the load rating,, Bias ply Avon Venoms have a higher load rating than the Venom radials. And they don't come in the exact same sizes.
  4. My laptop is fairly large, 17in screen, so I don't carry it at all. I have debated on buying a PSP and using that but not sure I can justify the price for something I will only use on the road, I have little interest in the games.. and would probably not buy movies for it either.. If I could burn the movies I already own to a PSP format it might be different.
  5. Changing oil to a good synthetic does not always work, it did not work for Kit.. It has worked for some,, try it before you discount it,, It is a lot cheaper and less hassle than changing a basket.
  6. I use the motorcycle Mobil 1, but any auto oil that does NOT have the words "Energy Conserving" in the API circle is OK..
  7. there is also this.. http://www.cruiserlift.com/swivelwheel.html
  8. After reading this, I would think the big bus style motor home, with the hydraulic lift to carry the bike towing a small vehicle that gets decent gas mileage would be the way to go.
  9. RainX can damage plexiglass and is not suppose to be used on the stock Yamaha shield.. Clearviews are different and they say you can use RainX but they recommend Plexus.. I use a spray polymer polish and/or Pledge wipes on the stock shield.. My tall Clearview should be in Thursday.
  10. Well there are these things. http://www.motorcycleramps.com/motorcycle_caddy.htm But not sure how good they will be with a bike as big as a Venture behind a 5th wheel.
  11. Gawd, I can't believe when I saw the pics of the new Avons I actually thought "Oh, sweet" And I don't even need tires yet.
  12. Oh wow, that was great, I'm originally from Michigan and have been listening to Bob since the late 60s.. When I was just a kid.
  13. My bike developed a medium loud whine (loud enough to be annoying at 70mph) around the time the first oil change was due. I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic and it made a big difference I hardly noticed it anymore.. Again last week, about 500 miles before an oil change was due the whine started getting louder, but not really that bad, I went ahead and changed my oil early, again with Mobil 1 and it quieted back down.
  14. How about I94,,,!!!! it is a freeway. Head East out of Battle Creek MI, by Stevensville you are going almost straight South on it to Gary IN,, then it curves around the bottom of Lake Michigan and goes North through Chicago to Milwalkee WI, before it starts going East again.
  15. Yup, its true!!! But I have heard rumors I'm not sure of that say the stimulus money will not be in check form, but as debit cards that can be used anywhere a credit cards can be used, so people will not use the money to pay bills.
  16. Maybe if they hadn't spent $24 million sending out those letters telling everyone the check was coming, they might have been able to get the checks out faster.
  17. per progressive's web site the part # for Royal Stars is 11-1144.. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=PROG%2DFORK&CartID= But have you put any air in the forks.. I have 5 psi in mine and it rides much better and much less dive than when it had 0 psi.. I think the max is 7 psi. on the front.
  18. OK, seriously, I have not been there but have been told St George's Island State Park is a nice place.. Just take 98 South East to Eastpoint and cross the 4 mile bridge. It is 68 miles from Panama City to Eastpoint.
  19. I've a 19 year old son sitting around doing nothing I could send that way in case you don't think you are going to have enough stress. :rotf:
  20. I get the wind gust in the back a little too at times, but the wife gets it a lot, that is why I'm going with the larger windshield. As far as rain, that is why I chose the Clearview, I've been told it has a little more angle and lets the water run off much better than stock.
  21. It is not quite that bad down here, but I figure when the time comes I will get either a lift or a center stand, take the tires off myself and take them to Cycle Gear. They will mount and balance any tires you buy from then for $20. And I checked with them this week, and the price they quoted me for Avon Venoms MT90B-16 front and 150/90-15 rear was $137 each.
  22. I just ordered a trunk rack, the lower deflectors/vents and a Clearview XXL windshield with vent.
  23. Years ago, riding two up on a Yamaha XS650 going up the mountians in Cali toward Big Bear,, I heard a screaching sound, it stopped and then I heard it again louder.. As I approached the next corner, a left, I saw an exit to an overlook parking lot on the right and not knowing what the screaching sound was I moved to the right and started to head into the parking lot. Just then an MGB convertible came flying around the corner from the other direction sideways completly in my lane. I was halfway off the road going into the lot when the rear end of the MGB swung by and took off my left rear turnsignal. My passenger ended up with a small bruise on her left calf. Had I not been going toward the parking lot it could have be very bad for me. Had I been in my truck with a full camper I owned back then, it could have been very bad for the driver of the MGB.
  24. I hope that is at least Imperial Gallons!!
  25. Yeah,, I also found they also have the lower load rating. Avons seem to be the only ones with the better load rating.
