Find the match for the new Lexus Pearl White, very white yet still pearl and very sweet looking. Definitly more white then my Acura TL pearl white..
  2. So per this article, the US requires all car speedos to be within 4%,, I remember Honda being sued recently for not being within this spec on Accords and they extended warranties what ever their average error was off. If the bikes are that far off, either bikes don't have to meet the same regulation, or Yamaha owes us something!
  3. I put my son on a mini dirt bike at 11, on a Mini MX bike at 12 on a full size MX bike at 15. At 16 he sold his dirt bike and got a car. I told him when he had paid and took the safety course with his own money and got his endorsement I would help him find a street bike. He is now 19 and has yet to do it, but I feel he will be relatively safe when he gets around to it.
  4. I used Mobil 1 20w-50 without any additives and my whine went from always noticable and quite loud at 70, to hardly noticiable at any speed. At least I'm happy!!1:bighug:
  5. Why use a mix of synthetic and regular???? It seems to me if you are mixing you are losing most of the benefits of synth, longer oil change intervals and less thermal breakdown. Because the part that is regular will still wear out and break down as it always did.
  6. I don't see anything there that shows this is legal in the US.. Or anything in English except the word Download on the whole page.
  7. Since you brought up copyrights, what if you were the artist, wouldn't you want everyone that liked the song and owned a copy to have paid for it so you could continue to make a living? And don't say these musicians are all rich. Very few are, the record companies executives are rich the musicians get a small percentage of the profit. I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but technically it is stealing. I never download copyrighted songs, I buy the CDs. I always wear a helmet, and I never ride my bike after drinking, not even one beer. Just a few rules I live by. Peace.
  8. If you are interested in Jazz, or oldies music, search the web. There are quite a few site that offer free down loads. For more popular stuff, borrow CDs from your friends.
  9. Check the API circle on the back of the auto oil, if it says "Energy Conserving" it has extra additives that may not be good for a wet clutch.. I ruined one on my old Yamaha because I didn't know at the time. Since I have used Mobil 1 auto oil on many of my bikes with no problems, I just make sure it does not say Energy Conserving on the back.
  10. Not to mention that the Bridgestone front tire whines if not going in a perfectly straight line.
  11. My RSV has the pillow top and I love it, but did have some back pains on long rides, I added a Utopia back rest and no problems anymore. Did 1400 miles in 4 days last weekend and still felt like riding more when I got back. If it would just stop raining now I'd go ride.

    Insurance cost

I didn't say it in my first post, but my insurance is with progressive also. Are you an AMA member? Progressive gives an AMA discount that is considerably more than the $39 a year it costs me to be a member.

    Insurance cost

Of course area makes a difference but I only pay $350 a year for my 07 RSV. That is with the AMA discount.
  14. Mine started to whine about 500 miles, at the first oil change I switched to Mobil 1 motorcycle oil, 20w-50. The noise is minimal now. Oh, by the way. Kit, I hate the font.
  15. The easy fix is start using the front brake.
  16. We have no off season here in Florida either, and I got mine for 17,800 out the door,, 16,300 plus tax and title & license, no dealer prep or destination charges.. If you can't find it cheaper there it might be worth driving to Mississippi (depending on how far you are from them) to Lake Hill motors.. http://www.lakehillmotors.com they have them for $15,000 out the door, you pay tax and license when you get it home.
  17. As far as the cassette, I like it, I finally get to listen to all my old cassettes . I have not owned a cassette in my home since the early 90s. Besides, the bike has a AUX jack to plug in an MP3 or XM radio. For Yamaha to switch to a CD would still be out of date. Everyone keeps saying to add the leveling links, and put on a narrower front tire, but personally I have no problem with the slow speed handling.. I keep 4 lbs air in the forks, and 30 to 40 lbs air in the shock, and make sure my tires are at the right pressure. It just doesn't bother me. And this is only the second street bike I've ever owned that wasn't a sport bike (my other one was my very first street bike, a 76 Yamaha XS650) and the first bike I've ever owned that was over 450lbs, and it is way over.
  18. After 4000 miles on my 07, my only complaints ate the the stock windshield sucks in the rain and the stock front tire is noisy.
  19. Thanks for the info,, I think I will go with the XX-large with a vent. As long as it clears some at freeway speeds I think I will be happy.
  20. OK, there have been two replies to the question of how a Clearview works in the rain and fog. One said there could be a problem, and one mentioned the issue with riding slow and getting road grime and mist on the windshield. But what I want to know is, does the shape of the clearview push the rain off the shield at freeway speeds? It seems the bike with a stock shield is aerodynamically challenged. Even at 60+ mph the water just sits there, even though I keep it waxed and the water beads fine. I try not to ride in the rain, but we all know that is not always possible. I was planning on getting the xx-large as I like the calm air of a tall shield and I don't mind looking through the shield. But if the Clearview has the same aerodynamic issue I would need to get a shorter one. Thanks Al
  21. The terminology here is not quite right. Technically all oils have friction modifiers. Where the wet-clutch has issues is with those friction modifiers that allow an oil to be rated "Energy Conserving"
  22. from a post over on star.org, they mentioned that Metzlers are produced in two places, Brazil and Germany. And that so far all the Metz that have failed, that have been check, were from the Brazilian factory. Of course if you are ordering them you have no way to tell, but if you are buying them from a dealer you should be able to inspect them before they go on and tell. I personally am not sure where or what to look for to tell.
  23. funny, I've read several test analysis reports on oils, most by Amsoil said Amsoil was best, but the the two independent studies I read said Mobil 1 was best. I have never seen an independent study done on motorcycles comparing synthetics, The ones I've read were by a Camaro enthusiast group, and one was by a RC model plane racer.
  24. IN COMMING!!!!!!
  25. I keep mine cleaned and waxed with spray polish when at home and with Endust wipes on the road. Not to much of an issue, the water beads and runs off pretty good. I plan on switching to a Clearview with a vent when I can afford it. I understand they have more of an angle that help the water run off even better, and reduces wind buffeting.
