Vmax Heads will make up some extra Power on your MKI. The Cam have a more powerish Profile and the Valves are a little bigger and Valve Springs are good for another 1k on the Tach. This will work with the 34mm Carbs. I could provide Info about needed changes to the Carb Jetting to accomplish the changes.

No sorry, not bolt-on. The rear Headers on the 2Gen have a different Outlet. They are angled towards left and right rear of the Frame, where the Vmax are point straight to rear and head downwards from there. But you could mount Vmax Cams for some extra Power. Pegscraper has done this and some More to gain Power.

I gotta admit, over the Years, i've sunk more Money in my '99 than i bought the '09 for. I thought about selling the '99, but i never will get back half of Money and Hours worth i "invested" at these economic Times. So, i'll just keep the '99 for the Fun Factor and i'm speculating about getting it worth more from Year to Year. The newest Inspection Policy makes it harder and harder to keep the Bike street legal with Mods and Aftermarket Parts. So, let alone the Frame with all the Parts and Mods written into the Title are worth more every Year.

Cheaper ?? Well, believe it or not ... Once you've ridden this '09 only one Time ... All this big Chunk of Money spent is long forgotten while the Fun lasts forever ... Also, you know the Saying, the last Shirt doesn't have any Pockets. To be honest, when i'd have decided against buying this Bike and get a test Ride now, i'd kick my B..t forever now. Waiting almost for half Year on Delivery, waiting over 7 Months on the first Ride (50kms at 4 Deg Celsius the loong Way home from the Dealer to my Property) and 9 Months for the first real Ride was worth it. It is worth everything, every Effort, every single Dime. It makes me grinning bold all the Time ... :happy34::hurts:

Sure, this 2002 Vmax Motor will fit into a 1Gen MKII. Only Thing you need to change is the Shift Shaft, because the Vmax Shaft is longer and coming out of the Middle Drive Gear Cover. Not a big Job. Other than this, it's a bolt -on Job. If you fit everything else, like Carbs and Airbox, you will have to adapt the Fake Tank Cover to the elevated Height. Or you move your Venture Mainfolds over to the Vmax Motor, taking out the V-Boost thereby and come out with only 125 hp, instead of 140hp.

Charging issue
Squeeze replied to rhncue's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That's why i suggested to wire a DMM to the Battery Posts, takes out anything else by measuring the Voltage on the Battery Posts. If there's also more than 14.5 V ... The R/R is gone or about to ... -
Well, on the 1Gen, the Starter Button is supposed to cut out teh Head Light during Starting. Once you let the Button go, the Light come back on. This is because there's an Opener Contact in the Starter Button Circuit.

Charging issue
Squeeze replied to rhncue's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe the Main Switch is about to go out. This erratic Contact may cause the Gauge read higher Readings. But higher Voltages usually means defective Diodes in the R/R. This leaks AC Voltages AND Current in the DC System, and can be seen at the Voltmeter as Voltages above 14.5 Volt. I'd connect my digital Multimeter temporary to the Bike and take a ride. If you seen higher Voltages at the DMM also, I'd replace the R/R asap, before it will fry the Battery and kill all incandescent Bulbs on the Bike, maybe even the TCI. -

I agree, there was a really brilliant Mind at work !! You and I wouldn't have been able to come up with such a genius Name, but maybe it's just the Fact that were both not in that Range in the Salary.

Well, maybe you misunderstood my Posting. Just to make it clear: I didn't say you should ride your Bike allways hard and rough all Day ... I said, you should ride it hard when you're using heavy Doses of Sea Foam after the Sea Foam has settled for some Time and made it's Way into those clogged Fuel Passages inside the Carbs. The chemics make the Crud come loose, but you need to break it down and run it out of the System ...

1st Gen brake upgrade
Squeeze replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, with ALL due Respect.... You don't know the Difference. If you believe your stock Brake gives you so much Braking Power, you'd be able to stop on the Corner of Dime with modern Brakes. Not on the Dime itself, just on the near Corner. -

It just came to my Mind, i might have a fitting Set of Yamaha Rotors lying in the Closet for you. They're off a MT-01, but that doesn't matter at all. I'll check on Monday and give you a shout. If that's within you Time Frame ... -
1st Gen brake upgrade
Squeeze replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, i just checked... The R1 Rotors with 320mm don't fit. They also changed the Bolt Pattern to 5 olts when they change the Diameter. You need a 6-Bolt Pattern at 132mm Diameter. -
Maybe too much Oil on the K&N Filter ? They don't need much of Oil. A little Shot from 12 Inches away from the Filter is enough. If you overspray, you're actually restricting the Air Flow.

1st Gen brake upgrade
Squeeze replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Really go for the 320mm Rotors. There's about 15 Percent more stopping Power in them versus the 298 mm Disks. You'll need to machine Brackets anyway. It's not too hard to make them happen. Use T6061 or T7075 Aluminium. The EFI is on hold, i ain't got no Time for anything this Year. TB's(2004 R1) are sorted out and i need to make the Linkages fit. A Lot of machining left, mostly on the Lathe. Extension Adapters for Vacuum Chambers, Brackets for the Throttle Cables and on ... The small Stuff takes a Lot Time if you want to do it right. The Connection to the V-Boost Manifolds is ready to go. I figure, that'll be around 10 to 15 Hours on the Machines. What the Site would do without me ?? The Informations would just come in a little later ...:thumbsup2: -
1st Gen brake upgrade
Squeeze replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Iirc, Jimbob has already stellbraided Bake Lines. A well as R1 Calipers, a different Brake Mastercylinder and he splitted the Brakes. But you're right, steel Braided Brake Lines are a must for our old Bikes. But 400 CAD ?? Sound a bit steep to me. -

320 mm Rotors from the '09 VMAX will fit bolt-on to the Rim. Also FJR 1300 from '06 or '07 to recent(Year needs to be double checked). That's what i would use. The 298 mm front Rotors from the Vmax/R1from '99 to '06 or so, would also fit bolt on. But bigger is better. But you need to fab two Brackets to move the Calipers , so why bothering with the smaller Disc anyway. Other Fork Legs .... hmmm ... this might be hard to achieve, because the 41mm Forks are not that common nowadays. Also, the Lengt is a critical Point. I'd just go with the bigger Rotors ... -
You''re absolutely right !!!

That Part of the Statement is not true. The VMAX was developed through and all these Expenses in 10 Years have been made. Wether the Orders would come in or not. There's a Book from Yamaha, named "Unitized" which every Owner of a new VMAx gets from Yamaha. They cover the whole Story about Development, their Goals and so on.. Now, the Part that those Yammi Reps from Japan don't listen to anybody seems to be true. Heard the same Stories here in Germany and their european Headquarters. Nevertheless, I'm very confident about seeing a new Venture in 2010 or 2011.
