Starting NOT in neutral
SilvrT replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A "trick" I used to get my '85 into neutral was to apply a little upward pressure to the shifter (assuming it's in 1st) and then rock the bike a bit. Dunno why but those 1st gens are like that... my '87 was too but a bit easier. It should start when in gear if the kickstand is up. -
We "roll it on" or "crank it on"

Handling on my Venture
SilvrT replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wally.... my 0.05 cents... if you're happy with the way the scoot handles where you're at, then stay there. Nobody I know of puts 10lbs in the front shock or 50lbs in the rear... but then again, I don't know everyone. -

Would be helpful if we knew what kind of scoot you're referring to? -
Handling on my Venture
SilvrT replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The shock air setting for the first gen is different. When I had mine, I ran the shocks at max using the on-board system. As for the tires I think I ran them about the same as I reported above. -

Changing the air in the rear shock probably won't make a difference unless you're carrying a passenger. Might not change things much either by changing the front shock air but for sure the tires. Also, make sure your air gauge that you use on the tires is accutate... you could use the progressive pump (if it's a 0-60) to test the tires. -

Put 42-44 in rear and 40 in front and then report back... also run zero air in front shocks and about 35lbs in rear... make sure you use a proper air pump for the shocks...not a regular air hose. -
did you forget your password? do you know how to get to the gmail logon screen?

Good job... wish they had those "Ding Kings" when I had my body shop (back early 80's). I did have a large suction attachment for my "dent puller" and it did work to some degree but ya had to yank on it or use the weighted slider/hammer which was a bit of a PITA.

It's a trick to get more x-border purchasing up here.

Ya, and I wonder who the idiots up here are that figured it was time for us to have such an ugly version of a flame job! What did we do wrong?

One might want to consider the new Victory Cross Country. http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-ca/Victory-Motorcycles/2010/Touring/CROSS-COUNTRY/Pages/Overview.aspx As for color & paint design schemes, Victory has some really nice offerings, although not all designs are available on all models. IMHO, the Cross Country "scull scheme" as a far cry better than the flamed Venture even though I don't like either.

I'm not a religious man so I don't pray but I do extend my wishes to him for a speedy recovery. Too many of us fall victim to cancer ... it's the one thing everyone should try and do their part to fight and find a cure.

yep... 6 days off the end of the month... can hardly wait! Then 3 weeks beginning Sep 1. Having said that, think I'll head home early today... feelin a tad wore out from placing the order for the equipment.. LOL

There's not a chance in h#LL I'd miss coming to Nelson ... equipment won't arrive here for a couple weeks and there's no panic to get them rolled out. That's a good idea... then I could maintain my daily standard of Hardly Working! LOL Seriously tho, I hope your hubby finds some work as a guy needs his work to have a feeling of self-worth. Nothing worse than sitting around feeling helpless ... been there, done that.

For the most part, my job is pretty slack-a$$'d .... I have the luxury of sitting around monitoring the network environment, swapping backup tapes, posting daily transactions, assisting users occasionally .... I basically can go days..sometimes weeks without even coming close to putting in a full day's work. Life is tough!! LOL That will all change in 2 weeks. I've just ordered 3 new servers running Win 2008 to replace 3 old servers, 6 new printers, and a new 1 Terrabyte backup device (actually 5 of them for swapping off-site). Looks like my slack-off time has come to an end... at least for a while ... Actually, it's a good thing coz a guy can get real bored and that seems to wear me out more than anything. The down side is, I won't have as much time to post so many snyde remarks on here LOL

It's not really faster.... it's just that all that extra wind makes a guy think they're going faster
