Home-made Levelling Links
SilvrT replied to SilvrT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The change in height is one thing but I was more interested in the effects on the rake & trail and handling of the bike. -
There's a lot of threads/posts regarding levelling links including a "how-to" to make them yourself. Rather than adding to any of those, thought I'd just start a new thread due to a specific question. In the how-to, it says to drill the holes at 6 & 5/8 inch center ( 1/4 inch less than stock ). According to that, it should give about a 1" lift which changes the rake & trail of the bike resulting in better handling. I'm wondering (since I haven't read anything related to it) .... what effect a person would get if they set the holes at other positions such as, for example, 6.5 inch center or maybe even 6 & 3/8 inch center? Just curiosity here but I haven't seen any comments that address it.

xvz1300 check this... http://www.venturerider.org/modules/history/index.php hmmmm... just looked and it doesn't appear to mention that in there??

now that's a sh*tty thought!

... after some of that it does make things take on a different relational perspective so the answer "relational perspective" could well be correct LOL

hmmmmmmmm.... seems I saw a "version" of this somewhere already...

The factory is framed by trees which makes it appear bigger. As you get closer, the "frame" widens and the factory appears to get smaller (within the frame). COOL!

Maybe I'll try that next time

I went thru numerous oil changes, trying this and that... thought Rotella T 15w40 was pretty good but I recently changed to Castrol 10w40 and it not only sounds a bit better, the shifting is better so, I believe the viscosity has a lot to do with it. 20w50 around here is just too high I think.

if water flowed from North to South .... man would we have POWER over the USA (well, one can wish, can't they? )

Certain things have specific smells that automatically cause a "red flag" in my mind ... overheated brakes, hot or burning rubber, skunk, etc .... as soon as I catch a whiff of any of these, I immediately start looking for where it's coming from.

84 xvz1200 standard 1/4 mile tips
SilvrT replied to PEIslander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have never drag raced on the track but I've had my share of street races. One thing I've found (thru experimentation) is shifting without the use of the clutch makes a big difference. Upward pressure on the shifter, a short, very small "back blip" on the throttle and you're in the next gear and pulling hard. It's much faster than using the clutch and if the "other guy" isn't using this method, it really gives you an advantage.- 44 replies

Is the CD even showing up in the setup screen (a dumb Q I guess if you can change the boot order). What about installing another CD drive ... you should be able to get a basic reader pretty cheap. Other thing is maybe the boot CD for installing Win2000 is corrupt ... can you get another CD? I have one if you'd like I could send it to you.

Harley touring versus venture
SilvrT replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
yup, and a personal water craft a "Seadoo" and a snowmobile a "Skidoo" which are both Bombardier brands. -
you're not overreacting but punishment is not doled out on probablilities or possibilities and it's a good thing too otherwise some of us would never get out of jail LOL Yesterday while heading home from a day ride (on a 2-laner) I'm following a jacked-up 4x4 with a couple guys in it and they're passing ppl whenever they can and weaving side to side. After a bit, they're about 4 vehicles ahead and all of a sudden, they whip over onto the gravelled shoulder and start passing. Dirt and dust flying everywhere. I thought surely there'd be a major accident ahead of me coz it was a busy highway in both directions but nope... eventually the 2-lane turned into 4 and let me tell ya, I was having trouble catching up to them coz Nina wanted to get the lic. number and call it in. As it turns out, a guy in a car that they cut in front of (after their gravel-shoulder passing act) was calling in their lic number. Ya think they'll get anything more than a jaw-wagging??? not likely.

yep.... this would then become the largest thread ever!!!

That's a good guess coz he started a Harley site and then wanted to sell it so maybe nobody wanted it so he's thinkin of turnin it into a Honda site... ????
