  1. Larry...thanks ... can you get back to me with the model # and is it one of those with the big ball?
  2. We have hardwood throughout the house. We use area rugs in a few places. The stairs from the foyer to the main floor are carpeted and we have an area rug in the foyer. A swiffer would be handy from time to time but at least twice a month we like to do a thorough vacuuming. A good vacuum is the only way to get a lot of the crap that gets into the cracks and corners, into the area rugs, into the furniture, into the heating vents, etc.
  3. OK, OK .. I know this ain't about motorcycles but where else can a guy get the greatest feedback about almost every topic under the sun? Nina's Kenmore cannister vac c/w powehead finally packed it in after (according to her) 35 years of use!!! Imagine that... only 35 years! Anyhoo, we're looking to buy a new vacuum and are contemplating a Dyson upright model DC 14 or DC 25. Been reading good stuff about these but the price tag is a little hard to swallow. Anyone got any alternate suggestions/recommendations -or- do you have a Dyson and what's your review on it? Tks for your feedback.
  4. We were gonna do the Ride last weekend which was May 30th but that was my b/day and we had a family "party" already planned so I guess it will be next year for us. We've been to the past 2 "Ride for Dad" events here in Vancouver and I think there were about 2,000 bikers last year. Haven't heard what the turnout was this year... maybe 1,998 (coz we weren't there LOL). Too bad the weather hasn't been more favourable this year although yesterday (Saturday) over here was awesome and we got out for a nice day-long ride. First chance I've had to really test out the new rear tire ... it's a real improvement!
  5. but... but... I'd get oil on my finger!!! eeeewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotf:
  6. Could it be he's one of those who loves wrenching more than riding? LOL
  7. Since I've never owned a Harley but have worked on my son's Sportster 1200, I'd appreciate someone elaborating on the above statement... {why do you say it's more challenging} ?? I did his oil & filter change, changed the plugs, replaced the battery, pulled the carb off and completely apart to clean it... didn't seem any more challenging to me than anything I've done on either my 1st or 2nd gens although I've never pulled the carb(s) on either but can't imagine that being LESS challenging...LOL
  8. Thank you ... I guess that was sort of a confession whether I realized it or not eh? Thankfully the statute of limitations has run out!
  9. Tell you what Brian... that's a little rich for my blood but we can stop off an any go-cart track (preferrably one with fast carts) and I'll run circles around ya!! btw, we're thinking of heading up thru Nakusp / Needles ferry / Vernon route on the way back, stopping overnight maybe in Vernon or maybe run up to Sicamous depending on time.
  10. now now... this is a PG rated site yanno...
  11. I rarely change the oil when the engine is at full operating temp; however, I do warm it up some. I usually put the new oil in and run the bike for a bit...maybe 2 or 3 minutes and then shut it off and let is sit for a while...then re-check the oil level. Thing is tho, if you put in 3.5 quarts, you should be fine regardless.
  12. If you're ever in the Okanagan area of BC and want to try something really cool, check this out... http://okracingexperience.com/ A little expensive for a guy like me but if I had the extra bucks, I'd not hesitate.
  13. I was once a master at syphoning gas but in the beginning, I knew what gas tasted like and felt like when it blew back out my nostrils... OIL surely can't be that bad LMAO! How did I become a master you ask? I travelled across Canada on FREE GAS back around 1968 in my '55 Merc LOL Juicy Fruit was my favourite gum in those days LMAO
  14. OK, so I have a REALLY DUMB question here... Why pour 8 ounces into a measuring cup but only pour 1/2 of that into the oil filter .... why not just pour 4 ounces in and then when you add the rest of the oil, put the 3 quarts in plus a wee bit (best guesstimate of 4 oz).
  15. Some may have other ideas on this but if it was me, I would empty some out. If not, you will probably get exessive oil buildup in the air breather box. The oil level should be 1/2 - 2/3 in the sight glass. In reality tho, it probably won't hurt anything to leave it where it is.
  16. huh??? I seem to recall you guys having highs of 25 to 30 a while back. In my book, that's a HEAT WAVE!! LOL
  17. OK, just so I have this totally clear (as mud) ... I have the bike up on the jack. Because the jack angles slightly to the left of the bike, the steering has a tendency to turn that way on it's own. I can centre it by hand but as soon as I let go, it will turn towards the left...it won't go all the way though. So, I will lightly force it to hit the stop and it will bounce off the stop ... and stop moving. All of this sounds "normal" ???
  18. Well, it isn't happening to ALL us Canucks ... The east has been warmer than normal and the prairies have had blistering heat waves. Here it is not called the Wet Coast (West Coast) for nothing LOL
  19. how much movement in those nuts did it take?
  20. Our weather over the past couple months has been nothing short of CRAPPY! http://www.theprovince.com/Weather+woes+Grim+news+starved+Lower+Mainland/3105672/story.html I got more riding days in during Feb and early March than I have since. Couple days in April and another day or two in May but for the most part, it's been considerably cooler than normal and almost always cloudy and rainy. Saw the sun for a little bit last evening and again this morning. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were almost a constant drizzle. It's really getting depressing! Can you imagine having to wear a winter coat or a warm jacket and a hat for 7 month's straight with maybe 1 or 2 days where it's warm enuf to shed them for a few hours? I think I will feel naked when I can come to work without wearing a jacket! LOL
  21. When I was looking at tightening mine, it seemed to me that it would be easier to get the right angle to the "locking" nuts with the screwdriver/hammer from the LEFT side of the bike...?? Yes/No ?
  22. Found a couple sites... http://www.twistedchrome.com/ http://www.winnerscyclegraphics.com/
  23. Now if that isn't a feeble stab I dunno what is! :rasberry:
  24. Well this is proof that no matter what a guy does or experiences on his scoot, someone else here also has .... I'm having the same problem! LOL
  25. If all indications hold true ... my carb tune will keep my cooler stocked with beer all summer! Besides the cycle jack and the lift adapter, the carb tune is one of the best things I have purchased for my scoot.
