    I have been using Castrol GTX 20-50 since 89, in my 83 and have never found a clutch issue.

    I have that as my front plate on my ranger, I've had the plate for over 30 years.

    Finnaly got the repaired cms back into the bike. ALL IS WELL. Thank you for the info on this fix, I was thinking about doing the wire tap thing, but could not find it. This was a much better fix. Now to resolder the extra CMS that I have, and maybe someone will need one someday.:thumbsup2:

    I am the 2nd owner of my 83 Venture max, the 1st owner was my best friend. I got the 83 after he had a hart attack :(and could not ride any more. It was born on 8/00/83, It was reborn in 2000:cool10: with the Vmax head upgrade. then agen in 2003/2004 with new internals, and triporting on the heads and 1mm over bore, max carbs and a stage 7 kit. Since I have known this bike since it went to the first owner,:stirthepot:can I be conciderd:whistling: to be in the running?

    5. the pipe stubs on the front side of the exhaust crossover are broke:rotf: on both sides. makes it pretty loud I have one you can have. pm me and we can get it going. or call me my cell is in myprofile Bilko

    Found an extra cmm from an old frame, and took it apart as your post. I did indeed find several solder joints cracked, :(they were re soldered, I'll install it in the afternoon tomarrow to check it out. After installing the repaired unit, if it workes I'II do the same to the oem from this bike and keep it on the shelf with the spair speedo.

    I went to go for a late afternoon ride today,(its 65 out in NW Arkansas). While doing my pretrip, I found that I have no:( High beam, I changed the bulb and it still is out. I have no powerr to the bulb from the comp. I know that there is a fix somplace in the 1st gen teck area, but I'm unable to locate it. I would like some smarta$$ remarks and then maybe someone could point me to the tec page on the repair. I do not want to pull the dash so I'm stuck with the rewire,by the way its an 83.

    I got my 83 in 88, (it's been maxed since.) I got my other 83 in 98 or 99:icon_smile_question I don't remember, from a friend for 500bucks, and it ran like a champ, I now keep it (almost in stock condetion) for a friend;) that comes over from Scotland every now and then, That way he has a chance of keeping up with me, I paid another friend 200 bucks in 99 for an 87, All I wanted was the plastic, :pbut it ran. then I got an 05 250 verago for the wife, but she stoped riding alone after we got hit 2 months later, so I use it now and then. I have antique plates on the 83s so I dont have to reregastor them, the insurance would only be about 100$ a year but I need more then the state min. Bilko

    I am less then an hour from Branson. If any help is needed I am willing to go over. I have tools, and knowalge but no traler. My cell is in my profile. I am at work, but can receve cell calls. call if you need me. Bilko I also have work shop and lodging if needed.

    Since when do you need a passport:shock3: to go north? I was in Canada many times in the big truck, never once was I asked for a pass port. Bilko
