    I was thinking of going from the stock 120/90 in front to a 120/70, stock 140/90 in rear to a 140/70, so the diffrence in hight would be the same front and rear. :detective:Has anyone had a chance to ride an 83-85 with this tire combo on it? Bilko

    I carry a bag of tools in the bike. Mostly I dont get to use them, Yesterday I had an 8 mm in my pocket, "just in case" for the ride home. PS, I did get to use it

    :sick:I got 4 miles from the trolley barn, and the rear was starting to lock up:confused24:I don't remember hitting the rear brake:(. Had a honey do list to attend to at home, neadless to say, I did nothing to the bike, I'll pull the rear master tonight and do a good cleaning:) Bilko

    OK I removed about 1/3 of the fluid in the rear master resavor. It was tippy toped to the max, no room for expansion. Now to see if I make it home tonight without locking up the rear calaper.

    All the parts are in the right places. THANK YOU SQUIDLY FOR THE PHONE CALL. YOU ARE WAY TO COOL!!! I'll check the fluid leval at lunch, I'm at work 630 to 630. (the powers that be, frown on doing anything to ouy POV's during work hours, even changing a flat is verboten:() I'm hoping that I'll be able to ride home tonight, it's only13 miles. I'll post results as they get resolved. Bilko

    :fingers-crossed-emoI went on a 200 mile first ride after replacing all the bushings in the swing arm and replacing the rear shock. IN my 83 xvz12 all went well. I then went out on sat to the local coffee hang out, and the rear calaper hung up. So I went to the local Yamaha dealer and picked up an "O" ring kit, thats all thats in the calaper rebuld kit. after replacing the "O"rings in the calaper, It still locked up after aprx. 10 miles.:confused24:The calaper attaches to an arm, that appers to have the abilaty to floot, The book is not helping me in replacing the axal and spacers, I think I must have eather put a spacer, or washer in the wrong place, that, or I'm tightining the axal wrong, I need some help,

    What are you refuring to "chin faring"? Bilko

    What would the real temp. be at the temp sending unit, if taken with a noncontact temp indecator? My 83 used to run a little above 1/2 way up the guage, now its slightley higher then 2/3rd's the way up the guage.

    Since I'm to cheep to spend that much $$, I took a 35 gal oil drum, cut the top off, slit a pice of heater hose lenght wise and tie raped it to the open side rim. I have changed a lot of tires in the past 15 years with this set up. The drum sits at a good hight for working with the tire spoons to remove and replace tires.

    I am looking at Tires for my 83, I now have avon. I wanted to find out if any one has tryed a lower profile to elimanate the tippie toe stance I have at a stop. (I have a 29 inch inseam).

    My venture max, now thinks it's a Yamadavidson, it has left it's mark on the floor of the shop here at work. (looks like the valve cover gasket, and I'll have to clean the floor) I should never have put the H/D tour pack on the back.

    I just checked mine, L R was loose And R F was loose. Bike has been sitting for aprx 18 mos while I found all the bushings for the swing arm and the pivits for the rear shock, also replaced the rear shock with a works unit. The plugs rere NGK non rester, and a #7, they were put in when the eng work was done, I never looked at what they put in, This may be why I have a very high temp. reading. Bike used to run about half way up the guage no matter how I rode.

    Rebult the swingarm, New rear shock, replaced all OEM brake lines with teflon lined S/S. new brake pads, new Jorden mufflers, Then before I could finish putting the plastic back on, I noticed the clutch slave cylander leaking!!!! Maybe 103 dig in the shop is to hot for the bike. (And yes, It'll keep up. The guys at Bay Cycle in Bayonne N.J. nick named it scarey fast.)
