    Phoenix Riders?

Hi there. We are winter visitors in the Phoenix area. We bring our bikes down each year and go on terrific rides with the people in our resort. So many neat areas to ride in. I have been trying to get a meet and eat going with some members from here, and have met a couple of great people. We are in AJ. Let us know where to meet. Perhaps Tortilla Flats or Saguaro Lake or???? Wayne
  6. We would really like to do the Vogel meet as well as the IVR09 as we have read much about it on our site. I will have to look it up on the map. Now I really am going to have trouble waiting, fortunately we ride all winter in Arizona. Wayne
  7. Bill I can tell that you and your crew are pretty busy with the planning of the rally. However I was wondering. Would it be possible to have some of your local friends who know the roads be our guides for the various rides you have planned. I suppose there will be several at the rally and it would sure be a lot easier for the directionally challenged members (like me) who don't know the area. Wayne
  8. Yes we do have lots to be thankfull for. Our good friend Big Bob is doing real well and will have his bars and screws removed this coming Wednesday. It is a time for family, and a time to reflect on all of the wonderfull things we do have in our two countries. Times are tough for some of us but we will persevere. Things will get better.
  9. Sorry Bill I guess I shouldn't have joked about "dry county". Forgot how sensitive some people are. So I shouldn't bring up smoking......
  10. ????? Are you saying that the HUB is in a dry County?
  11. Have fun guys, I know that you will not go hungry. Wish I could get some of Owls chile. Oh ....and some pork too. Rick I am sure that Marilyn will like her new CB. We decided not to do anymore camping. We decided to sell our camper so next year we will go back to the 2009 PIP but we will stay in a local motel.... When you get back give us a call and we will set up a date for a fall colour tour of the Whiteshell. Wayne P.S. Say hi to everyone for us.
  12. Is anyone having trouble connecting to the ebay link at the bottom of the home page . When I go to the bottom of the ebay list I see that there is 290 articles for sale. When I click on the link it comes up with 2700 articles for sale many of which are not related to bikes. Does anyone have a suggestion???
  13. Reiny, finally got home (took a detour to see some friends) and read the posts. Susan and I thank you and your crew for a terrific time. Great organization, great food, and great rides. The banquet was a blast and please tell Hal that I finally got all the Fairy Dust out of my hair. LOL We hope to see you guys down in Arkansas for the 09 Rally Wayne and Susan (StarRider)
  14. Hello John, hope everything went well and was resolved to your satisfaction. We will see you when we get back to AJ end of November Wayne and Susan

    The Biker

A friend sent this to me, you may have read it before, but I thought I would share it with my friends..... The Biker I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant. But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But, you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But, you didn't see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you, stare at my long hair. But, you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves. But, you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But, you didn't see me cry as my children were born and have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But, you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car. But, you didn't see me pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me. I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you, race down the road in the rain. But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me, leave the road. I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But, you didn't see me because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker, a person with friends and a family. But, you didn't see me. Re-post this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community. If you don't re-post this, it sucks to be you. I hope you never loose someone that rides. The Biker
  17. While we may have slower reactions than we use to, we are probably less likely to hod rod and showboat and get ourselves in stupid situations. I agree with utadventure. Actually I agree with all these posts. I have seen a lot of MC accidents and most, if not all, were young riders and speed. We more (as my doc puts it) mature persons, do tend to drive more conservatively. Life is precious, isn't it.
  18. Don you don't need to take on this task. It sounds like a big one!! I believe that SilvrT has volunteered for the job. A PDF format on the site sounds good... Just my
  19. Reiny Great we are looking forward to it, thanks
  20. Hey Reiny.... I see that KW is not really very far from Niagara Falls. We have never been to Niagara Falls and we thought it would be good to go while we are so close. How far is it and how long would it take? Wayne
  21. We are lucky folks to have Don and squidley and others that are simply very good folks and will truly do what they can to help and have fun. RandyA Absolutely correct...Thanks guys
  22. Reiny We will take two of the new and improved patches. Thanks PS: also one 2XL T shirt and one Large, both in black, tx
  23. Thanks Chuckles. Good Info. We will talk to you closer to next summer. I trust we will see you guys at the rally. Wayne/Susan
  24. Hi Doc. I don't know about pulling a trailer with a bike on it but I also have an 86 VR and I pull a kwik Kamp. I use a hitchdoc hitch. I have no trouble pulling the trailer with my wife on the bike as passenger. I weighed the trailer and contents at the highway scale it topped out at 684 pounds. The bike ran real good and stopped good, (electric brakes would probably be better but I had no trouble stopping) The bike runs best at around 4000 rpm and up which is about 120 kph.
  25. I like the coins....took some getting used to but I like them, they are cleaner and don't crumple like the old dollar bills. (we didn't see too many two dollar bills anyways.) Easier to handle the coins than a lot of one dollar bills. And the word is that we may be getting five dollar coins I guess it's cheaper to make coins cause they last longer. Now the metric system is another matter. We still have a combination of metric and imperial in use. Its easier to say "the mile road" than it is to say "the one point six (1.6) kilometer road". Anyways my two cents worth.
