  1. I get the picture that it may be best if we bypass Chicago all together. We may not visit Minneapolis, and instead pick up 2 at Grand Forks and go the north side of the lake. Thanks everyone for the input. Nice to have people with experience give advice. Lots of time to decide. I had thought it would be nice to see some of Chicago even if it was from the freeways (tollways) Anyone know how much the tolls would be for two bikes and a camper trailer? We are used to the freeways in Phoenix as we winter there. But the drivers seem pretty good. I guess it's because if they are not good they get shot. Hope to see everyone at KW next year looks like Reiny and the crew have some interesting times planned for us. Wayne
  2. We need some advice. StarRider and I will be attending the Rally at KW next July and will be travelling through the states. We will be stopping in Minneapolis to see friends and then south through the Chicago area. Is there a way around Chicago so that we can miss the toll roads. Or is it better to take the more direct route through Chicago. We would probably pick up 94 in Indiana, and then into Michagan to Detroit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Here I am a year or two ago and here I am with my wife of 36 years. Not much difference, thou

  7. Reiny, will you be able to chart out some rides in the area. Maybe have some copies of maps of the different rides for us guys new to the area.
  8. Reiny can you tell me which area you have for us? I just want to check the camping sites over, they have a good map on their web site. BTW thanks to you and your team for planning the Rally. It will be good seeing everyone again.
  9. I just bought a lift (ATV and motorcycle lift) for raising my wife's 2005 1100 v-star up so I can do oil changes and other maintenance. Before I do the first lift, aside from ensuring it doesn't fall off, is there any other info I would need such as putting blocks on the lift arms so that the arms don't hit the engine? It looks like at least one arm would be under part of the engine which sticks out under the frame rails. Thanks
  10. Where do I sign up for the newsletter?
  11. Thanks Squeeze Tried your fix. But I believe that it was fixed already. After continuing doing what I had been doing (banjo lower than reservoir) after a while the bubbles stopped. Then I tried your fix. But by then there was wasn't any bubbles left. The brakes are fixed, and I am happy
  12. well I got some pressure on lever!!!! following instructions for reverse bleed (and not having any of the parts I need as its Labour Day and all the stores are closed) I raised the front end and turned the wheel so that the Banjo was lower than the reservoir. This let a lot of bubbles out still a ways to go.
  13. I am having trouble with bleeding the front brakes on my wife's 2005 V-Star classic. I replaced the upper brake hose. The one from the master res. on the handle bar to the splitter. Neither of the banjo's are leaking. I replaced the fluid till it ran clear through both caliper bleeders. Now the fluid runs clear but the lever still has no back pressure. It just travels right to the handle bar. Its almost as if the piston in the master cly. is not full, and yet it pushes the fluid out the bleeders. Any suggestion would be greatly appeciated. Wayne
  14. I replaced my speakers with a set of four inch Jensen speakers from a chain called Princess Auot up here. The install was not difficult. I took the turn signals off and went in through the hole and unscrewed the four retaining nuts and pulled the speaker off the front. (The dash side) Then I soldered the OEM connector wires onto the new speakers and the install was just the reverse of removal. Be careful with the cloth membrane when you reinstall it. The new speakers make the world of difference. We will be coming down to Phoenix for the winter we will be riding down your way maybe we can meet up for a coffee. Oh and then you have to do want gibvel says....
  15. I spoke with Allen (a member here) at DiamondR. He said that they no longer make the arm rests.
  16. Use pliers to turn the switch to reserve and leave it there. I did that and just wait till the red indicator light goes on before I fill it. (or sooner) The darn switches are very stiff. Duke
  17. Well said Don. We agree completly.
