  1. Count us into the mix. 2003 GW with a 2007 Motor Trike conversion. Also, still have my 99 RSV, but it's not getting much road time. The trike is just too comfortable and my wife feels much safer on 3 over 2 wheels.
  2. OK, I gave up and went to an independent shop that only works on Goldwings. From what the owner says there is a ground under the seat that got fried. From what he told me this particular ground point is known for this problem. Anyway, left it on Friday afternoon and picked it up Saturday morning, all fixed and ready to ride.
  3. I went with the HF Tag-a-Long and I can only tell you it does everything I need it to do and then some. For the price it can't be beat, unless you really want to spend thousands, it is the way to go. I'd upgrade the lights to LEDs and take off the second leaf spring, but other than that mine is stock and working well behind both our bikes. Oh yes, I tow it almost every day being in outside sales I carry my samples in it so I can leave the cage at home until the rain returns. Good investment and yes, don't forget the 20% off coupon.
  4. Disconnected the trailer wiring and still have the problem. It has to be a ground, but where? I was thinking about taking off the bike trunk to see if anything was routed between the two trunks. But before I do has anyone heard of wires being routed between the trunks? If not there is a Motor Trike Dealer about an hour from me I can always run up the white flag and take it to them next week. I just hate to not be able to figure it out. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
  5. Thanks for the input! I phoned the Honda Dealer where I bought it and their trike guy was gone for the long weekend, but the mechanic I spoke with said he would start there too. I'll get under it and see what I find and let y'all know the outcome. George
  6. I just got our "new" 2003 GW with 2007 Motor Trike Conversion home. What a fantastic 2700 mile ride! Love our RSV, but the GW trike is just that step above. Now the problem; when I use the turn signals both of them flash on the dash board like the emergency flashers are on. The front turn signals are fine the correct side flashes, but the entire back is messed up. Everything flashes, the volume of light put out by the rear lights is almost un-seeable and when apply the breaks the turn indicators on the dash light up. I've jacked up the bike and looked under it to see if I could see anything obvious (I know never that easy). The bike wasn't ridden much for about a year before I got it. I first thought of dirty contacts letting voltage through both sides of the switch, but now with the break lighting them up I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
  7. Don't know how old the battery is as it was installed when I got her and that's been three years. So most likely time to replace it. We've been setting rain fall records here in the Portland area, maybe something did get wet. So it looks like new battery, starter relay and check all of the connections on the lower part of the frame. Not to mention a few sunny days to do the work! Thanks to each of you for your advise and suggestions. If y'all are ever coming to the Portland,Oregon area let me know. Always looking for friends to ride with. George
  8. Everything tests fine, very puzzling! After going through my checks I hit the start switch again and she fired right up. Just like nothing was wrong! I'm wondering if, as suggested, it may be the starter relay beginning to go bad? I shut her down and restarted her about a dozen times and she started perfectly each time.
  9. I just put in new plugs, fuel filter, adjusted the carbs and took her out for a couple of long runs 120+ miles both times. Everything was just fine including turning her off and restarting. The rains came and she sat for a week. When I went out to go for another trip I hit the starter the entire bike went dead. I turned the key off waited a minute and turned it back on and all the lights etc. come on just like she's ready to start , but she won't start. I get a click coming from what sounds like under the bike on the right side. If it was a car I'd think the starter was out, but before I start taking off/replacing parts...Anybody have any ideas or suggestions what it might be or where I might start looking? Thanks George
  10. What's the old saying "You can't cure stupid" The worst part of all of this discussion is that Ma and Pa Jones see a rider on the back wheel or doing other stupid stuff and it gives all of us a black eye! So the next time the legislature wants to pass yet another restrictive motorcycle law all The Jones want to do is vote yes to restrict the hoodlums that ride motorcycles. David good for you! I don't think I would have been as understanding as you.
  11. Golf & Venture How about we team up for Washington and Oregon. If someone in Northern California could meet us in Ashland, OR or somewhere down there we can hand it off. We could be the Pacific Coast Team.
  12. I haven't ridden your proposed route, but we drove it in our motor-home and had no issues keeping fuel in the tank. There are enough stations along the way, but remember an ounce of prevention....if you're at a half tank and come to a town with a fuel stop...fill up. Have a great trip. We still have to get together and do the around Mt. Rainier down through The Gorge and into Portland once the weather clears. George
  13. Has anyone heard of the ISRA, been involved with or maybe be a member?
  14. Interested all dependent on where and when.
  15. CSF you may have already made a decision and if you went with a Star you made the right decision. Mine is a 99 RSV and whines like a bear, but I don't notice it once I get on the road and as far as the carbs go if you keep them in sync there's not a problem. It loves to get on the road and run. Join VR as the people on this site are a wealth of information and more than willing to help with information for you. Oh, in the ego boost category mine gets more attention when I park it at events than any of the Harley's around it and that attention comes from Harley riders who love the look over their rides.
  16. I'm impressed and would have never thought of it! Thanks
  17. Is there anyone in the Pacific Northwest, hopefully along the I-5 corridor, that has carb sync equipment? Tuning my 99 RSV and just can't spend the hundred bucks right now to buy my own. I'd donate to the cause for your help. Oh, I'm in the Portland area, but willing to ride to where you are. Thanks, George
  18. Has anyone changed out their Tail Light for one of the Halogen or Xenarc bulbs? Also, what about changing the turn signals to a brighter bulb that are available. I'm concerned about the heat build up especially in the turn signals, but it's winter in the Northwest and I want all the light possible in the dark and rain. Thanks George:depressed:
  19. Just wondering if any members are heading for Street Vibrations in Reno next week or to Las Vegas for Bike Fest the week after? Unfortunately, I gotta fly to both, but in you're going let me know would like to meet some fellow VR.org members.
  20. Is there a format in place and help available, from previous area's that organized, for hosting? Like average number of hotel rooms needed, average number of people attending, how many rides are needed, vendor list etc. or is it left up to the local group organizing it to start from scratch each year? I guess I should ask is there a "committee" nationally or internationally that oversees all of this or does it fall on one who raises his hand. These may sound like stupid questions, but I'm new to Venture Rider so don't know answers.
  21. Exactly what I'm looking for! The IRS has easier manuals to work with than this. Thank You Very Much.
  22. Tom, Thanks for helping me make up my mind. I've been looking at the F4, for my RSV, but didn't know anyone who actually had one. Web sites can say anything, but reading your post about their customer service them just sealed the deal.
  23. Does anyone know where I might find or order the right side wire guide that also holds the front reflector? I've looked in my manual and it can't find a part number so going on line to order one doesn't seem to be an option without it. Repair Ideas Also Welcome!
  24. Thank you very much! I knew there had to be a way just couldn't figure it out.
  25. Is there a way of searching our member listing by region/state? I live in the Pacific Northwest and would like to make contact with other members who live here for possible rides or events.
