  1. my 2000 has a whine in every gear at low rpm's. good thing these machines like higher rpms! I hear the whine and i gear down. no need for a tach...
  2. what he said! leave some space ahead pick up your speed go over the strips and stop as usual. I will often do this in slow traffic. leave some space instead of feeling like i have to be close behind the person in front.
  3. the wife and i want to go around the lake this summer...nice pics.
  4. Thanks so much. Finally got some time to check everything out and got it installed. I was -7.8. It is right on now. My odo seems to be short 1.3 miles per 30 miles.
  5. didn't like the glue so i used my grip tape for golf grips...works great.
  6. my wife is petite so that might be a good thought. i did put on the new tire but the bike is new to us so she can't compare. Also, adjusting the rear shock pressure may be helpful. thanks.
  7. Good thought. I am not one who tends to lug; however, we were taking back country roads. I will have her think about this when at lower rpm's!
  8. 1. wiring/lighting too 2. not sure when synched good idea 3. tire supposed to be balanced by dealer when replaced 4. pressure is good
  9. not sure what mufflers but they are louder. i can't feel anything. I did remove the trunk in the fall to lube the rear/end drive shaft etc.
  10. bought a 2000 venture last fall and got a chance to get out with the wife to ride. she told me that the backrest seemed to vibrate a slight bit that was irritating. she said the 82 goldwing didn't do that so wondering if something may be wrong. thanks larry
  11. just got mine in the mail yesterday. are the directions easy to follow? did you find anything unexpected? thanks, larry

    Victory

Also test rode the victory a few years ago. I prefered the hd ultra classic. i like the hd handling more than the venture or the victory; however, too many good points to the venture.
  13. my first masters was 1997 when tiger won his first. it was an awesome experience. i was only able to attend because i knew the right person. i have been back a few times since. i think they have a lottery for the practice rounds. don't discount the fun of a practice round. you get a chance to interact some with the players and see them practicing some pretty cool shots as they entertain a bit. waiting on the call someday to play a round! my buddy did get to play. since my buddy will probably never get to invite someone i will probably never get the call but i can dream a bit...
  14. good read and congrats! might have to try it sometime.
  15. probably hooked it up to drag it to the curb and forgot...better than forgetting a baby in the car!
  16. wish you were my neighbor!
  17. Not my first ride of the year but I also celebrated this nice MI day with a ride through the irish hills. Another nice day tomorrow.
  18. i was really suprised by the poor welding on the "big red" lift. I told them it was my first purchase at their store and was not impressed. they didn't seem to be very concerned. craftsman came with wratchet straps too!
  19. decided to get a lift for my 2000RSV. thought i would try the new tractor supply and buy the big red 1500lb lift for 119.00. lift seemed ok but noticed the welds on the locking mech were bad and was bent too. I had them order a new one and it came back just as bad. needless to say i returned it and went to sears to look at the craftsman 1500 for the same price. I had them open the box so i could compare before i took it home. The craftsman lift seemed far superior in most ways--foot pedal release, spring loaded locking mech, attacheable T-handle to move were a couple. **best news it was on sale for 99.00. guess now it is time to get a lift adapter or takle making one myslef.
  20. what about the shaft going back into the hub? I think i remember reading after the fact that it is pressure fitted into the hub...is it worth pulling it apart for greasing that too?
  21. i followed the steps for rear wheel removal...did i miss it? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515
  22. Thanks for the thought. I did keep the 4 bolts loose when i put the shaft back in; HOWEVER, I did NOT take the hub apart! I wonder if that could be it. I used a bunch of break cleaner which could have gotten in there and took some grease out. I also realized after that I could have removed the shaft from the hub...i guess it is just compression fit?
  23. pulled the rear end and lubed everything from hub to drive shaft with moly paste. also got a new rear tire and replaced brake pads. I have put several hundred miles on since the work. Last night the wife and i were arriving at home when i noticed a "creak" somewhere in the rear end. It goes with the rotation of tire or shaft. Any thoughts? Did I miss something? Thanks for the help.
  24. my 2000 radio just began crackling when i pull the clutch to downshift. i did wash the bike before this happened; however, even before i washed it it would cut out occasionaly. any thoughts. thanks
