Only silver lining was that i had failed to grease the clutch pins last fall when i lubed everything. I missed the C-clip. So, got it done this time. I thought i had some moly paste from last time but couldn't find it so back to the shop yesterday. Wouldn't you know the first thing i see on my shelf this morn? Yep, moly paste that i looked for 10 times yesterday. Even moved everything around on that shelf. Guess i have enough for a few more changes.

Well, when i took it back in they said the rim needed cleaning. i questioned him by saying, "Why didn't they clean it 8 months ago when the put on the tire." He had no answer.
-
ok. i did find the writeup just didn't see where it said to clean out the bushings.

I had to pull the rear wheel again because the dealer didn't clean the rim good enough so the tire was slowly leaking. Anyhow i realized that i didn't grease the pins the last time so I had another reason for taking it a part again. Anyhow, the pins were pretty rusty. I cleaned them up with some fine sandpaper. Anything else to do other than moly paste? Do you or can you clean out the bushings? thanks, Larry

Been working in a level one trauma center for over a year now and have seen many accidents. A few observations. Amazingly few deaths Driver error in 80+% of accidents Amazingly few life defining injuries Three wrecked this spring at 80-100mph range..road rash and sprained ankle in total. One without a helmet. Many alcohol related or excessive speed High percentage in beginning weeks of "trauma season"...motorcycle accidents define the beginning of the trauma season Just my observations

vaccum caps..thank you and ?
22lyons replied to 22lyons's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
the idle will slow a bit then pick back up to normal. so it is not a surge just a very slight slow for a split of a second and then back to normal. -
So i just checked the vaccum caps on carbs as advised due to backfire on decel. Just as was mentioned they were both cracked badly so i replaced. Will there be any performance differences since the leak is fixed? Will it impact mpg? I guess other than the backfire on decel what other issues does the leak effect? Thanks for all the good info! What a great site. Larry

anyone in the area able to help with a synch? thanks, Larry
-
good to know. I know they are not straight pipes. They appear to have something in them. After reading some older posts i guess i will try to start with a carb synch and check the two rubber caps for leaks.

thanks so much. will different mufflers make a difference? i don't know what the po put on it but they are louder. will they casue some popping with carbs in good order with no air leaks?

Got my new to me 2000 with 31k last fall and am needing to check valves and a carb sync (anyone in the area that may be able to help with the sync). Do you think these things could help with the little bit of popping I have on downshift. I also have been getting 32-35mpg no matter how i drive. I am one who likes speed but even when i have tried to drive easy 35mpg is all. Would there be more of a carb issue than the sync, etc. Thanks for your thoughts, Larry

In the same place. I just bought mine last fall and just turned 31k. I have never done it and would not mind getting together to figure it out. -
in the helmet too...still get the shivers thinking about it....
