  1. EarlI may just do that upgrade. The scratches are below the seal bet fairly deep. I don't think they'll sand out. I will be needing new inner tubes at least.
  2. I took my forks apart today to find out why the seals go bad so often. Found scratches on the inner tubes that I don't think I can sand out. Does anyone know what range of years will fit a 1984 Venture?
  3. http://www.sierra-mc.com/ has antennas for the old Ventures
  4. I am in gahanna near Columbus airport. Welcome!
  5. Check to be sure your pressure plate is aligned correctly. Putting it on wrong would cause this.
  6. Try traxms.com you have to search for your size but prices are good
  7. Thanks everyone for all the help. I pulled it all apart again and re-assembled. This time I turned the clutch plates around per the shop manual. The plates have 2 notches on one side and one on the other. Manual says to turn these around for sticking clutch. Not sure iof that was the problem but I'm riding now....
  8. Bled it two more times. Same. here is my list of things to check tomorrow after work.... clutch in wrong? I was pretty careful pressure plate bolts too tight? 7 ft-lb instead of 5.5? worn clutch rods? master cylinder needs re-built? Am I missing anything?
  9. I did pull the rods out to replace the seal at the slave cylinder. But I put everything back like it was supposed to be. I checked that closely. maybe the clutch plates are in wrong..... I haven't re-built my master yet but not sure that would do much.
  10. The clutch is not disengaging completely. I can shift into all gears with the bike on the center stand. I can get it started but the clutch engages about 1/4" from the hand grip. I have bled and re-bled the clutch. I have also replaced the clutch slave seals. I also tied the clutch lever and let it sit for a day with the clutch master cap taken off. I must have put something back together wrong.....
  11. My linkage is just like the pictures.....Will try rocking....
  12. Hmmmm....the 1st gear and 2nd gear indicator lights work...but no neutral....the light flashes as it passes by but cannot make go into neutral no matter how hard I try. I hate to tear it down again but I may have to....
  13. When I start it I still can't get it into neutral. Is there something about the way the shift mechanism goes in? It will start but it feels like the clutch isn't disengaging all the way. I don't want to ride it if there is something wrong....
  14. I can start my 84 in 1st gear but cannot get it into neutral! I just repaired the shift pit problem I was having and now no neutral. Hard to get out of the garage in gear....
  15. Ok, I figured it out.....Make sure the pressure plate is lined up with the clutch boss...I missed that part. After tearing off the slave cylinder 3 times I decided the piston was being pushed too far and getting jambed so it would not release....When the pressure plate is on wrong this happens. Now that I put it back together all is well...Thanks for all the help !! I'm going riding...
  16. No, the washer was in the right place....just pulled the slave cylinder off and put it back on...very big pain. I will let you know. I pulled the clutch lever when it was apart so maybe I jambed the slave cylinder or something....still can't figure it out.
  17. Yes, I did pull the clutch lever while the clutch was off....what do you think happened? The rod is still in.
  18. I have an '84 Venture. I just fixed my 4th gear loss problem and put the clutch back in. Now I can'y pull the clutch lever..... Pulled the clutch back off and still can't pull the lever....steel rod doesn't move at all...
  19. I bought some filter material and rebuilt my filter....seems to be working ok. only time will tell...
  20. I'll buy it for $500
  21. If your stator is still good solder the wires together for a good connection
  22. I put an Odyssey AGM in mine 4 years ago. It is still doing great. I was replacing the Yuasa every year before the AGM.
  23. Thanks Guys, I'm going to wait until the winter to take it out. I have a lot of things to fix so I'll just tear into it when the weather gets cold.
  24. Did you get at it from below or from the top?
