1. I left mine loose one time and I noticed the frame was more flexible than normal.
2. I think I have one from a 1983 if that will fit. Not sure what condition its in though. Let me know if you are still looking.
3. Hey Kevin, I'm not sure what bracket you are referring to. Can you post a picture? About the bike driving like a drunken sailor, there are a few things that could cause that. tires would be my first guess, followed by the steering bearing being too loose or possibly the swing arm plastic bearings being worn out. It could also be a cracked fork brace. Good luck and welcome to the forum
4. sierra-mc.com has them for $45.00 plus shipping.
5. This same thing happened with my '84. I pulled my swing arm and looked inside with a flashlight. If you have the same problem you can see what's wrong. There is a recent post about grinding in all gears with pictures if you can find it. There is a splined shaft with a spring in the middle gear area that splits. It is not an easy fix since you have to pull the engine and split the case.
6. I have a 1884 Venture and I just broke one if my spark plug caps. I don't really want to buy a new set of wires but can't find just the caps. (I don't know what to look for either).
7. I got it out. I don't think Yamaha intended for it to be removed.... There is nothing wrong with it s far as I know but I wanted to move it since I have the fairing off anyway. I wound up taking the air box off and the battery holder support member. Now to mount to the air box next.....
8. Wow, a real pain. I think I'll move it if I can get it out......
9. How do I remove my TCI? I think I can see it but i can't figure out how to get at it. Tried to search for this but for some reason no results...
10. When I replaced my stator I cut the plastic connector put and soldered the wires together. I was suspicious that the plastic connector getting a bad connection caused my stator to fail.
11. Is it the plug for the hole on the left of this piece?
12. Are you sure the tires are balanced? I had a similar but less severe vibration after I put on new tires. I used Ride-On and all vibrations went away. Also, you might check your fork brace for hairline cracks.
13. When I went we stayed in Gatlinburg, TN. Lots of things to do around there. I would ride the dragon during the week to avoid the crazy weekend riders. Also, check out the Cherohala Skyway which is not far from the dragon. I love riding in that area, I've never been anywhere with such nice roads to ride everywhere.
14. I'll be very interested in this project. I saw one on eBay last fall and it was good looking. I'd love to build one myself! Keep us updated.
15. I tried the spark plug wrench but it wouldn't hold so I used the all thread instead.
16. What type and size fittings are those?
17. I'll have to try the PVC tool next!
18. I thought you guys might appreciate this cheap tool I use to disassemble forks. It's 5/8 all thread with four 5/8" nuts tightened onto it. (I think 17mm would work too but my local hardware store only had 5/8"). I think it cost me about $8.00.
19. Thanks! I downloaded Tapatalk and Forumrunner. Both work. I'll let you know if there are any differences.
20. I saw this fork protector on a Vmax last summer at Vintage Bike Days - Mid Ohio. They looked good and I was wondering if they would fit on my 84 Venture. I cannot find where to get them either.
21. Does anyone know where I can get this 1200 badge? I have one on my right foot peg bracket but not on the left side.
22. Is there a forum app for iPhone? I use my iPhone way more than my laptop.
