  1. Hi I was wondering if anyone had an old windshield that will fit my bike. I dont care on condition as I am going to cut it down to a shorty, scuff it and flame it to match my bike. Thanks in advance, Paul
  2. It doesnt matter as long as you ride. Paul
  3. Did my 87 last year and 8000 miles ago and it worked out fine. You will see a couple little spot welds on the top and bottom of the collector holding the baffel in place. Mine had broke loose on the spot welds on a couple and sounded like the tranny was ratteling apart. Cut the rest loose and gutted the thing entirely then folded the flap I had made back in place and welded it shut. Put it back on and havent had a problem since. It is a little deeper in tone but not that noticable. I think there are pictures here somewhere showing the whole process. Paul
  4. The question is how many people have actually been burned by this guy? I feel if the number is more than 2 he should be exposed. This site is like a big helpful family which now has the greedy brother trying to get everything he can for himself (still like a big family as there is always one looking out for no one but himself). I feel that the people who have been burned have final say as if they want to warn other family members to stay away and not get the shaft themselves. I feel that more of the story needs to come from the people burned as to the circumstances as to how they were screwed, then if most are in agreement EXPOSE him, then Don can do his job and remove this boob from the site permanently. I dont know why anyone would even hesitate about this issue (must be by members who havent had a run in yet with this guy), but if some members want to warn other members so they dont get hosed is the right thing to do regardless. Because if I were to buy something from this guy in the meantime and got screwed, I would be not only jacked by the guy I bought the stuff from but also by the members that prevented the others from getting the word out. Bottom line is no one likes to be screwed over and warning others about the situation is the right thing to do as this is a big family and it would be like telling your brothers or sisters hey dont buy anything from Johnny as he is a weasel and will jerk you around or screw you over. That is what I would want from family members, HONESTY and HELPFULNESS which is what they are trying to do by preventing other family members from the same fate. Just my opinion take it for what it is worth, Paul
  5. Thanks guys now I have some thinking to do. Paul
  6. Thats sort of what I figured but will it sit level with the bike with the 12 inch tires on it? Or would it make it sit to high and look wierd? Paul
  7. If you are curious you could list it with a high reserve just to see where it gets you, but I have a feeling that you would be better off taking the parts off and selling the parts seperatly, as $20k is a lot for a 4 year old bike regardless of whats on it and miles. Most guys that will look at it will probably think why pay that for used when I could buy new cheaper with a warranty and then dress it the way I like it. Just my opinion though. Good Luck, Paul
  8. I had a quick question. I am getting ready to start my trailer project and they have the trailer kits on sale at Harbor Freight. here is one with 8 inch wheels for $139 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=42708 and the same with 12 inch wheels for $169 Which one should I go with as I have never hauled a trailer behind the bike. If I go with the 12 inch tires will it sit level with the bike? Any help would be appreciated cause I am not quite sure which would be the best way to go. Paul
  9. Still wiping the tears from my eyes:crying:
  10. Well Monday was the first day of deer season here in Pa. and it was raining and miserable, until 8:25am when a nice 6 point (should have been 8 but one side was broken off) walked 10 feet from my stand. I shot him and was back home by 10:30. I have to go and pick up the meat today, I was going to cut it myself but it was almost 50 on Monday and was a little to warm for me to hang. So another year down with anothe buck. I moved my tree stand 16 years ago to its current spot. There is a creek behind me about 20 yards and a swamp to my left about 30 yards away and the deer cross right at my stand from 3 different directions. Just the greatest spot in such a small patch of woods no one comes in and bothers me. In 16 years I have taken 15 bucks from that stand and all but 2 have been taken on the first day. I feel sort of cheated that my season is over so early but its a good thing. Afriend has to work the rest of the season so i might go out Monday and try to fill his tag for him as we are suppose to get snow on Sunday night. Gotta love this time of year. Paul
  11. Thats to funny:rotf::rotf:
  12. Vey nice congratulations. My thought also was how many are you allowed to kill during your season. Here in Pa. You are allowed one buck and if you buy your doe liscence which allows you a single doe. Then there are the green tag or crop damage areas where you can kill an extra deer if you have the tag. Here is a pic of one i got the year before last. This was the biggest deer I have shot (not points but weight) it was almost 200 pounds which is hugh for around here and the rack is near perfect and it just had to go on the wall. Our season starts the Monday after Turkey day and I cant wait. I moved my treestand 16 years ago to its current spot and I have got my buck every year since with the exception of last year (I saw 3 buck last year but none were legal Pa. has a law that they have to be at least a 6 point or at least 3 on a side). But now I have the itch. Paul
  13. Yeah there is nothing there that i would ride, maybe if I were in a Back to the Future movie, but other than that I wouldnt want any of them. Paul
  14. Airbrush work and the custom painting is the same no matter what you put it on, other than the sealers and primers used for wood surfaces are different. I got into the guitar thing because there is more demand for it with less guys that do it. There are only 3 of us in the states that are doing this type of thing for a living other than the guys who paint cars that will spray them, I get quite a few that have gone that route and came to me to fix them or repaint them because they are clueless on prepping the wood as it will move a lot more than metal or plastic will. There are a ton of guys spraying bikes and this works better for me money wise as there are just a few that are doing what I do that arent hacks. Plus I have work year round where the bike thing is seasonal. Just giving you guys some info on my reasoning. Plus I get to meet a bunch of great musicians and collectors. Paul
  15. Bought my 87 a couple years ago with 60k on it and it now has 75 on it and I would jump on it a run cross country today. You got a very nice bike. The only thing I did was gut the collector (rattle), cleaned carbs and am now an endorser of SEA FOAM it works miracles. Other than that it has all been cosmetic as far as fixing cracked plastic and broken tabs before I painted it. Trust me you will love it. ENJOY:thumbsup: Paul
  16. Hey guys I am going to take on a few bikes this winter to paint and figured I would let you guys know first. Any member that wants some paintwork done will get 20%off my regular prices. Let me know as I am getting my schedule together for the next couple months. You can check out some examples of my work at www.bigheadguitars.com or at www.myspace.com/bigheadguitars or you can check some stuff out in my gallery as well. Here are a couple things I just finished up. One was a restoration job and the others were complet builds, but will give you a good idea of what I can do, check them out. Let me know and I will talk to you soon, Paul
  17. If they would have come down off the asking price you would have gotten that much less for your trade. The bottom line would be the same regardless. Realistically he probably knocked $1500 or $2000 off of the bike (which there is close to $4000 in mark up on the bigger HD'S) but just reflected that in the trade. So an actual cash value on your bike that they will have into it would be $12200 or $11700 which sounds more like it. But if they showed it to you like that you wouldnt stick around or think you were getting a good deal. Its all a numbers game and I know as I have sold cars and bikes in the past for over 10 years. So the dealer will make a couple grand on the front end with the sale of the HD and will also make some when they sell the trade. Pluse a dealer can mark up the interest rate 3 percentage points over what the bank says and will make backend money on that. So if they give you something one way they will take it away another way. But where th HD dealers make all the cash is on the accessories that they will hose you on over the time you own the bike. It is definetley not black and white. Paul ps. As far as the salesman who throws a fit when a trade is thrown in last minute, he wouldnt be working for me long as that happens thousands of times a day at every dealership in the country. If he couldnt handle that in about 45 seconds he isnt much of a salesman and odviously isnt making the dealership or himself any money
  18. Every day is electric guitar season around here being thats what I do for a living (build custom guitars and do custom paintjobs), and thats the only room I can put some of them in as they are not allowed in the rest of the house says the wife. Well other than the shop and the practice room and the rest of my personal guitars are just in cases in closets and under beds. Here are a couple pics of a few I just finished up, one was a restoration job and the others were complete builds, check them out. I think that the ghost flames would look nice on a scoot. Well almost everyday is guitar season other than the 2 weeks of deer season:cool10: But I am thinking of taking on a few bikes over the winter so if any member wants paint work done i will give them a 20% discount. But I should probably start a new thread for that. Paul
  19. Thanks I am only allowed one room in the house to do what I want and that is it. But you should see the garage and shop in the basement (all mine) Paul
  20. Yeah its starting to get close around here for us as well. I am stating to get that itch to kill something. Archery season so far around here has been terrible which I am glad about so it means more for us for rifle season. I attached a few picture from my room of death, check them out. Paul
  21. That has to be one of the funniest things I have read on here in quite a while. And anyone that couldnt tell it was meant to be funny and took offense to it needs to sit down and take their lithium, xanex or whatever they need to make themselves better, then reread the post. Because that right there was some funny stuff:rotf::rotf: Paul
  22. I use an old roaster of the wifes slides under perfect with it on the center stand. From there I dump it into the coal bin and then to the furnace. Paul
  23. Yeah I wasnt sure how to mount them to the rear trunk and also if i would have to get amplifeid speakers or if I could just tap into the left and right speaker wire to power the rear speakers. Paul
  24. Also wondering if anyone has added rear speakers to their first gen? If so how did you mount them and will the stock power amp support both sets of speakers? Just a little curious as I want to open up my mufflers a bit and dont want to drowned out the stereo. Paul
  25. I was wondering the same thing for mine. I switched out the cassette and bought the cable from John to use my MP3 player and now you really notice the 20 year old speakers. Paul
