  1. It has been snowing here the last couple days but the weather is suppose to break and warm up next week with little precipitation. I hope the weather gives us a nice weekend, Paul
  2. Had mine for over 3 years and have been in the heavy rain on the bike at least 10-15 times and on several long trips. And still no leaks. Best $35 I ever spent.
  3. We got our reservation last night. We are staying at the Econolodge on York street I believe. We will also be getting there Friday sometime and coming back home Sunday. There must be something else going on as a lot of the hotels are booked up already. Anyway if its ok another couple is comming down with us I am almost certain they were to make their reservation last night as well, is there room for 2 more? not a big deal if not as they have never been to Gettysburg before so I am sure they can find something to do for a couple hours. I just hope the weather holds out and gives us a nice weekend. Paul
  4. Thanks for the help. Paul
  5. Hi guys was looking and found these they are for a Goldwing, but I was wondering if anyone has used them on a Venture. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2002430/c-10111/Nty-1/p-2002430/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10111/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=saddlebag+rails Thanks, Paul
  6. Good news the 18th has just opened up for us (2), The wife has to switch a day with someone but shouldnt be a problem. We will probably be comming down Friday and going back Sunday. I will have to check with my sister in law as she is a manager of a hotel here and she always gets us special rates when we travel which is nice. I think the Sleep Inn is one of the hotels on the list that she can get good rates from. I can ask maybe she can get a group rate. I know it all depends on availability and hotel policy but I can ask. So please add us to the list if there is still room. Also Bumble bee we are about 45 minutes from Johnstown so shoot me an email before Thunder in the valley and we will hook up. Paul
  7. April 18th is no good for us as well, April is pretty hectic for us. May opens up a good bit for us. Paul
  8. Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that the wind deflectors I posted a few weeks ago are up on ebay. The owner put them on at $17.99 buy it now, I dont know why he just didnt start them at that price before. Any way its a good deal if anyone is looking. Here is one of the item numbers 150309459852 Paul
  9. Our camp is on rt 144 a couple miles on the Bush Dam side of Cross Forks, so it is between Phil Baldichinos tackle shop and Cross Forks. We try to make it up as much as possible, I think we have been up 11 or 12 times this year and plan on making a few more trips up before the end of the year. Paul
  10. Yeah the elk were about a half of a mile away from our camp. All 4 big bulls and all the cows were in a 50 yard area right next to a guys house. You dont realize how big they are untill you get close to them. Paul
  11. It was a beautiful weekend around here to ride so we took the bike to camp which is about 40 miles from wellsboro in Potter county. Here are some pics check them out.
  12. Yeah they look sharp, so much nicer than just the smoke acrylic that most are made from. Thanks for the compliment on my bike you can see more pics of my bike in my photo gallery check them out. If someone has an old deflector from a second gen that is broke or cracked that they can send me I plan on doing a bunch for different bikes. Or if someone could send me some pics with the dimensions I can definetly make them for the second gen, and whoever sends me one or pics and specs will get their set free of charge (lets not all run to the garage at one time). Or if anyone has a different set for another bike I will make the same offer. The more styles the better. I planned on putting the ones I have up on ebay but I figured I would come here first to see what you guys thought about them. Paul
  13. Hey guys sorry I havent been here in a while summer has been very busy. Anyway I have started working for a company that does CNC routing and laser etching along with vinyl cutter for vehicle graphics and signs. We stated doing some wind deflectors (since I needed a new pair as one was cracked) and the owner has a Gold Wing. They are 3/16ths acrylic which is nice since they are a little heavier than the stock ones. I included some pics of the orange set I put on mine and also a few different colors red, blue, yellow and also we have black, dark red, light blue along with clear (which you can have back painted to match your bike exactly). They are 6 by 7 and 3/4 which is the size of my originals and bent exactly like the original set. The holes are not drilled so you can drill them to fit your own hardware. They will be $25 a pair plus shipping. I am putting this in the classifieds as well but I wanted you guys to check them out cause I thought everyone would get a chance to see them here. We can also customize them like I did with mine for an addidtional fee. But check them out and let me know what you think. Paul
  14. Sorry I missed you Bob. I saw a two tone red first gen and a two tone blue first gen yesterday. I took a bunch of pics but got caught in a huge downpour on the way home and forgot I had my camera in one of the front pouches and it got wet and I cant download the pics from it. I hope after it dries out it will be fine, we will see. I saw on Friday 6 mounted policemen on horseback patrolling downtown and thought what a great idea as they had a great vantagepoint looking down from atop the horses. But I also thougt that they would spook with the drag pipes but they were very well trained and nothing seemed to bother them. And look at the gas they saved with 6 less patrol cars going 5 miles an hour all day through town. Made it down Thurs Fri and Sat and got caught in the heavy rain comming home Thurs and Sat but what are you going to do we still had a great time and maybe heading down again today. Paul
  15. I posted the same thing a week ago with not much interest. We were down for the opening of Thunder yesterday and the bikes were starting to roll in and things were gearing up. I saw another first gen yesterday and didnt know if it belonged to a member or not but its the white one in the pics below. I will post more pics as the weekend rolls on. Paul
  16. Look out for Penn dot trucks parked along the road or appearing behind you pacing you, it could be a Trooper driving the truck, it is called "Operation Yellow Jacket" and will be off and on all summer, each district has a truck cleaned up and ready to go! Watch Your Speed In PA! USE CRUISE CONTROL AND IF YOU ARE IN THAT MUCH OF A HURRY AT NO MORE THAN 2 MILES ABOVE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. THE FEW MINUTES YOU SAVE SPEEDING, ISN'T WORTH A TICKET OR A GAMBLE WITH YOUR LIFE. Starting today, Pennsylvania will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following: Rte. 1 north and south PA-220 I-99 north and south I-95 north and south I-279 north and south I-276 east and west I-376 east and west I-76 east and west I-80 east and west I-79 north and south I-70 east and west PA-60 PA-66 US-22 & 322 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in western Pennsylvania, you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you. KDKA and WDVE & CBS3 confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you. Driving Ticket fine increase in PA: Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of PA Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00 Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!! Make sure everyone knows about this! I am sure other states will follow so be careful everyone. Paul
  17. Yeah I cant wait and it is nice because we only live 40 miles away right off of route 219. So starting around Thursday we will see countless bikes running through town on their way. If you have never been to Thunder it is worth the trip as it is getting bigger and better every year. S o if you are even remotley close its worth the trip. I saw bike plates last year from all over the country as far as California and Alaska. Paul
  18. Yeah we arent sure what days we are going as well, hoping to hit Fri and Sat. One of the local radio stations said they are expecting 250,000 bikes over the weekend. Sounds like a great time. Paul
  19. Just checking to see if anyone was making the trip to Thunder in the valley in Johnstown Pa next weekend? Its a great time and every year it keeps getting better and bigger. Its definetly worth the trip here is a link http://www.visitjohnstownpa.com/thunderinthevalley/ also check out my pics in my gallery of some pics from last years thunder. Paul
  20. Im running synthetic and I just changed it about a month ago. I am thinking that I still may have a little air in the clutch line. I am going to take it off at the master cylindar and try to get it out that way if there is any air in it at all I figured it would or could be easier trying to get it out there than trying to force it down and out the bleeder. We'll see anyway I figured its worth a shot.
  21. Ok I changed the brake fluid and I started the bike and it wanted to pull with the clutch in. So I blead the clutch and it feels nice and now the clutch seems fine and holds the bike while in gear and running. But the problem with it shifting very hard in and out of gears still remains to the point of stomping it up or down several times to get it to change gears. I adjusted the linkage and everything seems fine there, so now I am scratching my head??? What do you think? Paul
  22. I looked at the bike yesterday and found that the linkage is a little loose and needs adjusted and also my master cylindar is a little low. I am going to play around with it today and get theings straightened out, and will let you guys know how I make out. Paul
  23. Hey Earl, sounds like a plan to go out and put some miles on together. I also see there is a guy from Indiana who is also close. Maybe we can all hook up sometime. I checked the bike out yesterday and I need to tighten up my linkage a little bit and my master cylinder is a little low so I am going to drain replace fluid today and I think that should take kare of it.

    Talk to you soon,

    Paul

  24. Hey everyone I have a question. I pulled the bike out yesterday (87 Venture) as I hadnt had it out in 2 weeks. I washed it and then went for a little scoot. When I rolled it out of the garage I had a little trouble hitting neutral to fire it up. It was stiff and hard and and just kept going from first to second without hitting neutral. Finally found neutral and down the road I go. The gears were stiff and hard to shift, almost like the clutch wasnt in all the way. Had a problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd and then to 4th, almost had to do it a few times to get into the other gears. Downshifting was the same thing had to shift pretty hard and a few times to get it to want to downshift. The bike ran fine other than that and when it was out last 2 weeks ago it was perfect, and I did nothing to it other than wash it before I went for a ride yesterday. It was dark when I got home so I didnt even look at it I just pulled it in the garage and and parked it (the penguin game was on). I figured I would look at it today. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know where I should look first? Thanks, Paul
  25. Looks like most of the roads here in Pennsylvania.
