  1. No, I didn't use baffles. The fishtail pipes are louder than stock but not obnoxious by any means. They sound the best when you step on the throttle.
  2. I believe I used 36" pipes. Because of the fishtail design, the pipes need to extend past your bags, otherwise they won't fit. When I had mine on they extended @3 inches past the bag - basically, the fishtail part of the pipe. I've had my pipes for 3 years and they have worked fine.
  3. I have a set and you do need rear brackets. I simply use a P bracket...I think it's a 5 inch. It doesn't look the best but it works. The pipes are a great inexpensive way to get a nice sound and a good look.
  4. Made it home at 10:30 AM. Had a great time with a great bunch of folks. Good food, good folks and good riding....a great combination. Glad to hear that folks are getting home safe.
  5. Eck, Nice bike man. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Take it easy if you end up riding it back home. Be safe.
  6. Bobbie, I'd love to be there but I have to work that day....Kimberly and I look forward to seeing the pictures of all the fun. Don't worry, you will do great.
  7. George, The rack and the lighting looks great. By the way...in one of the pictures I thought I saw some crabgrass next to your driveway...or was that chickweed.
  8. Went to fill up last night and both gas stations near me were OUT OF GAS. I couldn't believe it. On top of that prices were up to $4.05. Oh well..
  9. Would love to make it this year but that weekend is full of homecoming football games, dances, running kids here, in-laws visiting and who knows what else......Oh well.
  10. Sorry to hear about this. If you find out she doesn't have insurance you would still be able to collect under your uninsured motorist protection - assuming you carry it of course. Many policies require you either file a police report of have an independent witness to the event. Sounds like you have both (if you count the video as an independent witness). In many states it's an optional coverage and many bikers that I talk to simply choose not to pay the extra premium for it. Good luck and I hope you get everything taken care of quickly.
  11. Once again.....great pics. Like I told you, the only pics I have of my scoot are the ones you have taken. Kimberly loves the ones you took of her am me. Thanks again.

    Biltmore Visit

It's my pleasure....or should I say after I get done with all of this...It's compliments of the Biltmore.
  13. For all of you that visited the Biltmore while in Ashville and paid by credit card.....BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR STATEMENT. I got my bill yesterday only to learn that they triple charged me for 1 ticket. I had the receipt for my one ticket and they then ran my card through 2 more times. .....They must have thought I was seriouis when I said that Riderduke was my spouse and Muffinman was my mistress (it was a family outing). 14. Hey Squidley, You make any of those for second gens?
  15. I just asked the dealer to put on in and he happaned to have one in stock. Not sure what size or any other info. Sorry I can't be of much help.
  16. He's a good one to practice on....he probably had more fun than you did.
  17. Hey there ECK. How the heck have you been. It's been a long time. Sorry for the late reply but I've been busy with work. Will you be at the Asheville meeting? I'll be there.

  18. I also downshift (engine brake) while slowing. Be sure to remember not to apply the rear brake too much as you may overbrake on the rear tire to skid. This is especially true in wet weather. When I engine brake I let off of the rear brake until the gear has been engaged. There's my 2 cents.
  19. Dan, By the way...I should be staying in the same motel.
  20. Dan, Thanks for the great info. I plan to show up in Asheville on Friday. Would love your help putting this thing together. I'll order the things you listed ASAP so I can make sure I have them by the time I leave. Look forward to seeing you.
  21. From what I have seen in other threads it appears that many use the Hoppy unit. It's strange that their web site does not recommend it for motorcycles. Anyone else out there use the Hoppy unit and let me know how you like it. Thanks.
  22. Next weekend I'm picking up a gently used Piggybacker trailer. I would like to get the componets to wire it this week but I have no clue on what is needed. Can someone out there point me in the right direction on this. Thanks for the help.
  23. I had gone to the same dealer in 2005 and put money down on a Venture. I even purchased @1500 in accessories from them that they were to put on the bike. They told me my new bike would be in the shop in a couple of weeks. I waited and waited on the bike. Every time I called I got different stories about the delays. As you can imagine I wanted my new bike. When it finally made it to an Atlanta warehouse they told me it would be another 7 days for it to reach their dealership (Atlanta is 36 miles to the south). The whole time I was waiting on the bike (at this point it had been over a month) I asked them why they just didn't get one from another local dealer instead of making me wait a month. They told me they just couldn't do that. After being fed up I walked into the store, very pissed off, got my money back and drove to another dealer @60 miles away and bought a Venture right off the floor. In the long run Lawrenceville Honda lost my sale, lost the labor work to install all my chrome, etc and lost a customer. Sounds like they paid a high price if you ask me.
  24. Hey Kit, Wanted to give you an update on my call to Luke at Yamaha. I called yesterday and left a message. Today I called again and got right through to him. He was very helpful and told me that Yamaha would replace my basket. I gave him the shop information where I wanted the work done and not 20 minutes later I got a call from the shop. Luke had already contacted them and set me up to have all the work done. This is a shop that normally has a 2-3 week wait to get work done. Well, I was able to get them the bike this Saturday and they should have all of the work done, along with one other small piece of warranty work, by the end of next week. Needless to say I am very pleased with the way things are going right now. Let's just hope that this cures my whine issues. Thanks so much Kit for the work that you did on this.
  25. I just changed my oil a few weeks back and used 10w-30 and 20% Lucas oil additive - it stated on the side of the bottle that this mixture would be OK. The noise is still there. No clutch problems in the 1800 miles I have since put on the bike. I guess next time I will try a heavier grade oil
