  1. The bike with the CB has a shot antanne, so i think i need a different one anyways
  2. Now the next part is getting all the necessary diagrams!!! Where do i even start to find those?
  3. Lol I ride with alot of those wingers, and they're pretty set in their ways I'm taking a trip to PA with my brother this summer and hes gonna be on his wing, so i'd like to be able to talk to him on the way.
  4. Does anyone own one with a cb? Do the original CBS allow you to talk, or only listen? I'm thinking about swapping the one from my old bike to my new bike. To do this I'll have to swap wiring harnesses too. So I guess another question of mine is, is it worth it???
  5. Have any of you ever had the fairing off? What about swapped wiring harnesses. I want to swap the harness from my 83 with a CB to my 83 without. I believe this is going to be a job, so what are some of your opinions? Would it be easier to splice in the CB? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- CJ
  6. I believe it is called the needle daiphragm for the carb, but im not entirely sure. Started my rebuild today and noticed all the rubber boots had holes in them. Anyone who knows that its called would be much appreciated
  7. all those sights and sounds, at an accellerated speed
  8. Noone that I have come across in my life so far is or ever was an original owner. Well, one reletive of mine was and he totalled it setting the cruise so i dont really know if that counts. I guess what im asking if there is anyone who is or was, what made you chose the venture over the GL 1200/1500. Have you ridden both bikes? And what are your key favorite things about both? I just figured this would be a neat thread to start. Well ill buckle up for hopefully a great story!!!
  9. They went several hundred dollars for them online. Does anyone know where i can get some cheap?
  10. I have access to a brake lathe. Is there a resurfacing spec to redo the calipers?
  11. Is it possible to splice my current plugs into the new harness?
  12. The bike that i have is an 83 royale. It has the neutral indicator, no cruise control, but does have a radio. I do not know what options the harness has, it was given to me by a member on the site
  13. If we're talking for my main bike, the bike that i'll ride every day, it would have to be the wing. But thats because i want yamaha to come out with a new tourer like the goldwing, you know, a new first gen like tourer! So right now, yes goldwing 1800, but i've always liked the 1st gen ventures more than the goldwings because of the looks and style. I do like the 2nd gens too, and will get one in the future
  14. Is it as bad as it looks like it'll be? What are some things i should look for? How many hours worth of work am i looking at? I'm going to switch to one that has a CB. This will probably be a doozy of a project, but ill start on it after i get my carbs redone and back on the bike
  15. Thats what im doing with my 2 first gens. Both have been neglected but im going to rebuild the one as close as a i can to its original glory days (Both bikes are blonde 83's one with 28k and the other with 68k, the one with less miles is going to be my pretty original rebuild), but the other one is going to get the vmax cams carbs etc get a crazy paint job, All sorts of lights, a 12 inch sub woofer in the back bag, a V-Max rear end, and who knows what else. I agree that both bikes should be kept running an on the road, because you really dont see enough of these today. You'll see plenty of 11 and 1200 gold wings, but hardly no ventures
  16. That is my ultimate plan with my venture with 68K but i also want a stock one that is a generally good bike, just for touring, the other one will be my hot rod. Ill see what i can i can dig up for V-Max carbs Thank you!!! I really appreciate all the help!
  17. Thank you very much
  18. So the intake manifold wont fit on the venture?
  19. Is it possible that the frame has cracked on this 84? I know its known on the 83s but it could be possible on any bike right?
  20. Give it a day to dry up a little bit, that might change alot for yah. Remember the KISS rule. Keep It Simple Stupid
  21. I have an 83 1200 and i need the complete carb rebuild kit. I'm looking for a cheap one, and hopefully someone can help. Any info would be much appreciated Thanks -CJ
  22. Im going to have the carb off my bike maybe tomorrow, so i was wondering if instead of rebuilding it and not being able to ride it for a few days, if i could buy a vmax carb. Would it be possible to give it more power this way? Or will it just flood out the engine?
  23. I'd like to know more of what you mean by jumepering. Do you mean have the lights on hand already, and then hard wire the brake and headlights directly to it???
  24. Ok thank you very much! I'll pm you that right now.
