  1. Glad to hear you've been getting family time too. I'm sure those grips and seat really do make a huge difference. Family is doing good, going over the usual developmental road bumps. Little man is learning that he cant have Mama whenever he wants and he doesn't like it! Rode again today, about 43 degrees this morning. I may try to squeeze a ride in Sunday, weather permitting.
  2. Braved the 35 degree morning for the ride to work yesterday. Had to drop the baby off to my sister's this morning, so no ride for me today!
  3. That salt tears bikes apart. I'm at the point with my venture that Itll never be a "nice looking bike again", so I dont mind if I get some extra corrosion and road salt on it. I'll try to ride it as much as possible this winter.
  4. I was surprised to see that it was only 7% of Polaris' market share or income. I thought I've seen a bunch of Indians on the road. That being said, I've seen a ton of them in the dealership locally that haven't sold so that may be the reason why. I think the Ultra Luxury motorcycles are either going to be a thing of the past, or at least not be profitable for awhile due to the economy. No one can afford these bikes, and if you can afford them, you're probably too old to buy them. That or the Indian name is cursed!

Dang, now where did I put those?...
  6. Congrats on your trip and I'm happy you made it home safely. That is also on my bucket list as well, to hit the lower 48 states. Good on your wife to take the plunge and do the ride herself! You two sound like quite the couple!
  7. Starting to feel that chill here, getting down into the mid 40s in the mornings. I wont be riding the bike for a few days. They are doing some repairs to our apartment building's parking lot, so I wont be able to access the garage.
  8. I checked yesterday and didn't have any trouble I don't believe. Seems like a good morning for some coffee and a car drive. We did get our ride in Sunday, but it was only 460 miles and it was in 40mph crosswinds pretty much the whole way. Needless to say, we were beat when we got home!
  9. Good morning everybody. Happy Friday!
  10. It looks like beautiful country out there! Let us know a date and I'll see if I can make it!
  11. Good morning. Planning a 500 mile ride this Sunday. We're planning on having the kiddo dropped off at my sister's and on the road by 7am. We'll leave Omaha and take Highway 75 up to Sioux City, then Highway 20 west to Highway 12. That'll take you north and west past Ponca (cool native history there). We'll stay on Highway 12 across the river hills until we hit Highway 81 and go north. Then we'll get to the south side of Yankton and cross Gavin's Point Dam. From there we'll take Highway 52 into highway 50 west across the South Dakota plain until we reach the west side of Wagner, South Dakota. We'll continue west and have lunch at Radar Hill, which is where the Fort Randall Casino is. It used to be called Radar Hill because there was an old Army radar station set up there. We'll continue west into Pickstown and cross the Fort Randall Dam and continue west on Highway 18 until we reach Highway 281 and travel south til highway 12. We'll then take highway 12 to highway 81 and take that south to highway 275 and head home! I'm really looking forward to it!
  12. Whats the general area you're in? I've never been to a Venturerider event, so after being on the site for like 10+ years I think I may like to finally go to one!
  13. Safe travels and enjoy your trip! I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures!
  14. What does the air filter job look like on the SVTC?
  15. Back in the saddle for another work week, will probably be riding all week as well. We're planning on a long ride Sunday. Keep the shiny side up!
  16. Good morning to you! Been awhile since I've been on the site. No ride for me either, dropped the baby off at my sister's but have been riding the rest of the week. We put about 275 miles on last Sunday. My mom bought a 2003 Goldwing with 77k miles for 3 grand for my brother in law-and sister to ride, hoping they ride more. We all had a great time! Thanks continuing to post on here, you're doing a big part keeping the site alive!
  17. Those are sweet bikes! I always take a lap around them when I see one out in the real world. Congrats on the new machine!
  18. The 88 Venture Royale is starting to feel pretty wore down with 106k miles. Engine wise she feels strong, but its needing more and more TLC in the suspension and electronics department. I know it'll go another 100k miles, and i'll never sell this venture, but we will certainly be upgrading to a 2021+ goldwing soon
  19. Looks sharp! Congrats!
  20. The end of an era it seems. Whatever you decide will be best for you!
  21. Thats a hell of start to get back on after your shoulder surgery! I'm sending it in not for the patch but I would like to hang the certification in my office. But I agree, it'll probably be one and done. 700-800 mile days are no problem. I dont ride much over 70mph on my old Venture, so that's a full day of riding anyway. I like to stop and see things, smell the roses, get off and walk, and have a nice big lunch
  22. Thank ya! It's something I can cross off my list, though I'm really not a fan of riding at dark, so it'll probably be a one-and-done!
  23. I will agree on avoiding high-output stators. I got like 5k miles on mine. I was then frustrated and bought a 30 dollar one from Amazon and got like 20k or more miles out of it. Now I'm running a Rick's stator. 10-15k miles on it so far and working good. We'll see how long it lasts.
  24. Hey guys! Friday I took off from Omaha, Nebraska and road down Highway 75 to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I then went southeast to Van Buren, Arkansas, and then from Van Buren to Crescent Iowa on I40 to I49 to I29. (I went to crescent because I was going to be about 8 miles short for the full 1000 miles). I took off at about 3:15AM and got home a little after 10:00PM. It was 102 degrees in Omaha that day, and low to mid-90s in Oklahoma and Arkansas and muggy. I could have done it a little faster, but I took more breaks because of the heat. I had a tremendous headwind going south and an even stronger tail wind going home. If you've never been on I49 coming north from Fayetteville, it is a beautiful stretch of interstate. The 1988 Yamaha Venture, of course, performed flawlessly. I got poor mileage on the way down and great mileage on the way up! My start mileage was 104,331.8 and my ending mileage was 105,344.4. I still have to get the paperwork sent in to be verified
  25. I didnt keep track of the CWS this year, but I'm sure they had quite the crowd!!
